Sound the whistle, time to enjoy!
Three fired guys, a dream, beer passion and willpower. There are the things that motivated Steam Whistle Brewery to be what they are today.
In the past 20 years, this brewery is one of the notorious in Toronto and respected throughout Canada, but the begin was tough: Greg Taylor, Cam Heaps and Greg Cromwell were friends and used to work in a microbrewery, all of them were fired, but they couldn’t leave the dream and the beer passion behind. So, struggling they decided to open their own brewery in an old factory in front of CN Tower. What came next is a legendary story. You can check in their website and be in love for what they became.
Tumblr media
In a normal day, the Canadians work from 9am to 5pm and at this point, a whistle blow from the factory when they leave their jobs, to announce that is a BEER TIME! Interesting, Eh?
My experience in this place was because I was waiting to go to CN Tower observatory and I was really hungry, but I didn’t want just a simple meal: I wanted something cheap, tasty and good for a review, so I decided to have a good time at Steam Whistle patio, looking forward to some meal that surprised me. And I had.
Tumblr media
From begin to the end I had a good experience, what I consider more important than only have a good meal. Because of the COVID-19 (c’mon man, get out. You had been annoying) when you arrive to the place they sanitize your hands and in every table there’s a bottle of alcohol to self sanitizing. Their menu comes with a QR Code and you scan with your phone to check food and drinks, to keep social distance controlled.
Tumblr media
The focus of the place are the beers, but the food menu made my day. There’s not to many options but what they have is enough, because you don’t spend a long time to decide. For me, the beer was the goddess and the food just complement and both, made a perfect match. At first, I ordered an unfiltered pilsner - to late: They sold out. Good because proves that’s a great choice, bad because I was mouth watering to that one haha.
Tumblr media
Anyways, the waiter gave me another choice - a good one: Steam Whistle Pale Ale. In a stein ($14). HOLY BEER. I loved. The taste was perfect and one stein was enough for the whole meal and the time I spent there. Thanks for the waiter, your decision made me a little bit drunk and happy haha. Look at this this beauty on the bottom!
Tumblr media
Now, the part that you guys are looking for: FOOD!
As I said, there are enough options to eat and I picked one that look simple, but wasn’t. BURGER.
I’m a huge fan of burger, but not all of them are good enough and this one, was. Because of the details: It came with one patty, cheese, pickles, lettuce, mayo in a potato bun and on the side, coleslaw salad and the crispiest onion rings that I've ever tried. Like I said, details made the difference.
The meat was juicy and from medium to medium well, that in my point of view is the perfect way to a burger patty.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Last but not least, I ordered some fries, that they call German Fries to be an extra side of my meal. It came with smoked bacon, mayo, caramelized onions and scallions - This for me was audacious, because I never tried like this, and being honest, everyone should try this combination. Totally 10/10.
Tumblr media
Obviously I will return soon, to try more beer options and a different kind of meal, but for now, they exceeded my expectations for every detail, since the greeting until I leave the place. I’ll be back to “EatJoy” again.
Cheers!

Jeulgyeo  - Korean BBQ and the connection with the food.
Jeulgyeo, or just “Enjoy it”. The word that represents the meaning of this blog.
I decide this time to try a different type of way to eat, and Korean style barbecue was the one that I went to.
The restaurant was Korean Grill House in Toronto and I’ll explain how it work. It’s simple: In the middle of the table there’s a grill with a bowl format, the waiter/waitress come to your table with a paper and a pencil for you and your friends make a check in what type of raw items you want, the side and drink and after that, you cook your own meal. Nice, right? An the best part: IS ALL YOU CAN EAT!
Tumblr media
The options are: Sea food, beef, pork, vegetables, ribs, sausage and fish fillet and salmon. All of them come to our table raw and with the place seasoning. If your table is already empty, you can make a note on the paper with the quantity of the products and the server bring more to you. The sides are tofu, rice, potato, beans sprouts and beef soup.
Tumblr media
The interesting thing about the food is the cutting, they are really thin, to make the seasoning absorb quick and when you put them on the grill, it will cook really fast, so you have to check the food all the time to don’t burn them. The waiter will set the fire and under the table you can control the level of the flames. But be careful to don’t turn off the grill, I made this mistake twice (Sorry guys haha).
Tumblr media
For an All you can eat restaurant, you can order as much as you can eat, but be sure to don’t waste food. If you really want to enjoy a good food for a regular price, this type of restaurant must be on your list and there’s a lot of types here in Toronto, with different prices and different seasoning, that make them unique!
Tumblr media
Are you ready to try? If you already did, comment below and if you want, I hope you’ll enjoy like I did.

We’re back - In Bakery Style
Hi everyone!
After a long time without write, I decided to start all over and focus in this project. To the people who read me, we’re back in definitive!
This time I came to write about my favorite meal: Breakfast. Okay, I know it’s not the first time talking about this, but now, is in a different way: Brazilian breakfast in Toronto!
Because of the COVID-19, everything around the world stopped and now the things are going back to normal here in Toronto. (For other countries, stay home - if’s possible.) We’re in stage three, and the government decide to open some places to dine-in, but in this case my friend and I we ate in a patio - really common in some places that want to open, but cherishing health of their customers.
After this pandemic, it’s my first time eating inside a restaurant, even if in a patio. I decided to search for a place to feel at home and I found one called “Padaria Toronto” - Padaria means “Bakery”, but in this case with a Brazilian touch outside and with the food.
Tumblr media
They recreated the Brazilian bakery concept, with similar food and drinks that you can find everywhere in Brazil - And that’s the charm of the place.
I tried to ordered a lot of food (Maybe that’s the reason I’m getting chubby everyday here haha) and the result are these photos below.
The place atmosphere is incredible, with tables inside and a small patio. They decided to keep only the patio and take-out for now, due to covid pandemic, but in a future they will reopen and serve everything as a normal restaurant (Thanks God, get out Covid).
Two things that impressed me: The flavor of their coxinha (Typical snack in Brazil: A deep fried finger food, made by dough and shredded chicken) and the calabresa bread (Homemade bread, filled with calabresa sausage). AMAZING!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Brazilian regular drink during breakfast is black coffee (strong, please) and one that we call “Pingado” (more coffee than milk, creating a stronger latte).
The best “pingado” partner is “pao de queijo” - a tiny cheese bread, really common EVERYWHERE you go in Brazil and really delicious (damn, I missed this cheese bread so much). You should try in your visit over there.
Tumblr media
During the day there’s different types of food coming fresh from the oven, and one of them is Potato bread, filled with homemade cream cheese. That cheese, they sell separated too, with different utilities in a kitchen - Trust me is reeeeally tasty!
Tumblr media
Last, but not least - Dessert.
We tried two types, one regional (from northeast of the country) and one seasonal, common in “festa junina” - a typical party to eat and celebrate, throughout June in Brazil.
Bolo de rolo and Pamonha: One look like a roll cake filled with jam and another made by corn, boiled with sweet flavor (but can be tried salty, with butter).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
There are more items on the menu, but I didn’t have time to try all of them, not even money (haha), but I’m planing my next visit, because the charisma of the servers, attendance and the way they care about their clients, make the place more special.
See you next time and don’t forget: Eatjoy.

Dee’s Family Restaurant. To that craving breakfast every hour a day!
Go to another city, different from your home town and traveling long days, we’re always looking for a comfort food to remember our place in this universe. (haha). And every place I visit, my stomach craves for breakfast and doesn’t matter what time it is: Is it 3pm? Ehm, I think we deserve a big american breakfast, what do you think? This is my stomach talking with me!
Tumblr media
When I visited Utah, I arrived near to 9pm and I was starving, because aircraft food, you know, is equal nothing, only to keep your belly’s mouth shut during the flight.
9PM and we had breakfast. Nothing better than this at that time. Dee’s family restaurant was a choice in common, because everybody were looking for a different plate, and I was looking for a big breakfast, pancakes, bacon and liquid of happiness: Coffee <3
In a traditional american breakfast restaurant, looking around we could see several diner tables and bunch of people eating something similar as our order, with some waitress refilling the coffee, and running with some trays full of food. We sited at the diner table, ordered our coffee and checked the menu.
My choice was Luberjack breakfast (I think is because after eat, you’ll need some axes and hammer to practice exercises, to lose weight), and it came with 3 pancakes, 3 eggs, bacon, ham, sausage, more bacon, a delicious gravy over everything and the magnificent hash browns - my favourite part of this meal. One fact about me: If I’m looking for a breakfast and the potatoes isn’t included, or if is included and it’s a bad potato, there’s a huge chance that I’ll never go back to the restaurant again. Seriously. Potatoes are the magic touch in it.
Appreciate this beautiful breakfast.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
*Chubby little baby pancake*
The restaurant is a family business that started in 1931 with a dream of Dees Anderson to be a restaurant man and now, with almost 100 years of history, and 3 restaurants in Utah, they keep serving  good service, good atmosphere making you feel in the 40′s, and 50,s and last but not least, amazing food.
With a menu for every kind of taste, on my next visit I’ll try another meal, because this time, my morning mood was in spotlight and my stomach was roaring so much, It was the reason that ice from Utah mountains was falling down -  The weather changed after that (Joking!) They serve full meal with steaks and chicken and good visual (probably with good taste too) milk shakes.
Tumblr media
On some reviews, the restaurant is classified as “one money”, that turn into a good option if you’re broke, like me haha - a familiar place that I’ll return one day, hopefully soon.
A photo of myself, after eat and happy, as every meal lol
Tumblr media
If Utah is on your next trip, you must check Dee’s and before, look the menu on their website and you can find the three address there too.

This was my point of view about our breakfast choice that day. See you around eatjoying this article!

What about EATALY?
Yes, you can visit another country without getting a plane and spending hours in a flight. That’s the feeling that I had when I visited Eataly. This is a known brand worldwide and they have about 35 stores, included in Italy (No way?), USA and Brazil. It was created by Oscar Farinetti and start to operate in 2007 - The name means Eat Italian, what is a good idea to a big market that sells items from the Italian eat culture to dine in and take out, to prepare by yourself at home and feel like a Italian chef (mangiare!).
When I visited, I was planing to eat something different than pasta or simple pizza and I walked throughout the place, looking around: Everything there makes you hungry - Seriously. You can find there lots of products coming from Italy like, Italian tomatoes sauce, oil, vinegar, fresh made pasta (different types self produced in front of the guests), big legs of  prosciutto and big wheels of parmigiano reggiano cheese.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The design of the place make you walk through the every single aisle and see what they can surprise you, with food and good service you can enjoy your visit.
PLUS: They teach culinary lessons and you can try some classes, just check the schedule on the website - https://www.eataly.ca/
The Eataly that I visited was in Toronto: The new store, opened in November/19.
In front of the building you can see a huge name EATALY brightening and after a revolving door, looking up at the roof, you’ll see bronze pans and pots hanging there, as a decoration. Before go to the stairs, they show you two signs that say: “Discover Eataly upstairs” and “Italy is Eataly”. That’s a good invite hehe.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
As I said, I was looking for something different - Not only different ingredients, but a different food, that I never tried - And I founded two things that I loved. First was the Roman-Style Pizza and second one, was the Cannoli. Sure, I already tried different types of cannoli, but this...this was perfect!
Roman-Style pizza is not a regular pizza, is more like a square, and they call it as a Focaccia. If you want to try everywhere you go, just order an Italian Focaccia - It’s the same.
I asked for two slices and they were big: One Tricolore (With Prosciutto, cherry tomatoes and Formaggio cheese) and one Cacio Pepe (With Formaggio and black pepper). The flavour that I could feel was individual: I felt the ham, tomato and cheese individually and at the same time, mixed. The flavor of the dough is unique, different from regular pizza because is thicker than others (not like Chicago style, I’ll explain that in other post).
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
After that, I went to the sweeties and I chose Cannoli (Leave the gun...) with sheep milk filler and traditional shell. Really, this turned into my favorite cannoli ever, because the taste is soft, you can feel the difference between a regular filling and sheep milk feeling, and this makes my experience better than I expected.
Tumblr media
Finishing my tour, I took some pictures of the restaurants and coffees shops that the public spend hours there and it was registered in my heart as a different experience, from a person that never been in Italy. Yet.
I hope you enjoy your visit there and reply with your review too.
