Have a Food Truck NYE ..
I love this. Why? Number 1 because it is in Brooklyn. Number 2 because it involves Food Trucks. Don't forget the fireworks ..
Festivities start at 11pm at Grand Army Plaza. From there you can secure a good spot to watch the fireworks and grab delicious eats and drinks from Wafels & Dinges, Mud Truck and Rickshaw Dumplings. Sounds like a delicious start to the new year.

Still Looking For NYE Plans?
I struggle with New Years recommendations. There are just too many fabulous things going on here, how can one begin to decide? I am always looking out for the unique experiences I haven't had before.
Tumblr media
Check out Underground Eats. These guys are my new favorite obsession and have an appreciation for unique NYC experiences I can get behind. They still have some last minute availability for two sure to be unforgettable events.
Choice number  is dinner at the new West Village gem Louro (I have heard nothing but fabulous things). If you are looking for a little more party in you scene, check out the masquerade party at Parlor.
Either way, two events that surely won't disappoint.

I Will Miss You, Holiday Markets
I Know, I am sad too. Strolling the Christmas markets on a Saturday afternoon with a cup of cider in hand is by far one of my favorite seasonal pastimes. And one of the parts I will miss the most? The food!
I will especially miss Mayhem & Stout who had pop ups at the Union Sq and Columbus Circle markets this year. They are the creators of some of the most delicious slow braised sandwiches. They have a variety of meats, sauces and toppings so every visit is a new experience. And believe me, I have personally tested a large number of the flavor combinations ... There really is no going wrong. I do tend to favor the braised short rib & brisket with the maple and brown sugar sriracha … I’m hungry.  I will be patiently waiting for news of their next pop up venture …

In Town For Christmas?
Will you be here? I will too! Whether you are a native who just wants to go out or just staying in town, you deserve a fabulous meal.
All week I will be sharing with you some of my top picks for Christmas dining in the city.
First up ...
LiL Frankies
Tumblr media
If you live in the East Village and have never eaten here, please change whatever plans you have for tonight and make this a top priority. This is undoubtedly one of my go to Italian spots in the neighborhood, and for that matter the entire city. So it is no surprise it is my first pick for Christmas Eve!
They will be hosting their first go at a Feast of the Seven Fishes. The menu includes their signature Mussels (I order them every single time I eat there, these are a must), Salmon Filled Ravioli and a Cioppino. The food here is simple and delicious. And the value for the caliber of food seriously can't be beat.
There are three prix fixe options or you can opt to go a la carte. But how could one even decide between them? Please just go for all seven ...

Fun This Week!
There is so much going on every day. I am brewing with excitement. Here are some of my top picks this week ..
Drink For Good: Taste unlimited beers from 16 different breweries. Proceeds will benefit various local Hurricane Sandy relief efforts. Food will be available for purchase outside including Wafles & Dinges. I’m there. Tickets cost $40. http://brooklynbrewery.com/blog/news/drink-for-good-a-hurricane-sandy-relief-fundraiser/
Caskers Craft Spirits Celebration: Casker’s will be bringing together some of the best craft distilleries. A ticket buys unlimited tastings and lite bites. Sampling things such as gin infused with raw, Vermont honey sounds like an amazing night to me. Tickets are $50 and can be bought here http://event.caskers.com/product/csc/
Tumblr media
Food Truck Scavenger Hunt: On saturday December 8th get your team together and head over to Sidebar. There you will register and get ready to navigate the city answering trivia and interacting with our fave trucks. In order to keep things interesting, names of participating food trucks haven't been announced. I can't wait to chow down at every single one along the way. Tickets run $50, but check out Time Out Offers and Living Social for deals. http://www.iadventure.com/event/detail/509c2cf46845a/food-truck-holiday-scavenger-hunt

Turkey Leg Ball 2012
Tumblr media
* Photo courtesy of Immaculate Infatuation
Ok, I am a little late in the game on the Turkey Leg Ball recap. What can I say except I think I just finished recovering today. If you haven’t heard of turkey leg ball before, you have plenty of time to get with it for next year.
Thrown by Chris Stang and Andrew Steinthal, the creators of Immaculate Infatuation, this was their third annual go at the event. Not a bad option for Wednesday night entertainment. The thought of venturing to Hudson Terrace sometimes makes me think twice, but no need to fear because ticketholders scored a discount with Uber. My car arrived in less than five minutes and my completely paid for ride to the door was a much welcome start to the night.
The place looked great (Stang and Steinthal weren’t too bad to look at themselves). There was a ton of great food courtesy of Austin based restaurant Foreign & Domestic. I must have been too distracted, eating because I missed my shot at a turn in the photo booth. I think the lamb shoulder grits stole the show for me.
Sure, there were sometimes lines to get food. I’ve rarely been to an event where there isn’t. That’s what the open bar is for. Point is, I’d accept an invite to a party thrown by these guys any time.
Check out Immaculate Infatuation’s gallery here for more pics. http://www.flickr.com/photos/immaculateinfatuation/sets/72157632138589950/

Weekly Delights (11/5 – 11/11)
There are so many wonderful things happening this week. Especially excited to see so many events benefiting Sandy relief. Some highlights:
Did you know it is Meat Week in NYC?
Started by Food Karma Projects, celebrate the farmers and chefs who provide sustainable meat options to our city. Event proceeds will benefit our neighbors who need all the help we can give in the Rockaways. Eat meat for the cause!
Events to note include the Modern Beefsteak and Spirits Celebration, Thursday November 8th at Hudson Terrace. Tickets available through Time Out offers.
Get all the info you need through the official Meat Week website http://meatweeknyc.com/
Five Napkin Beer Bourbon and Burger Festival
5 Napkin Burger will be hosting their first ever beer, bourbon and burger fest. Event is being held on Thursday November 8th at 6:30.
Attendees will get to bask in 10 beer and 3 bourbon tastings. If that isn’t enough to get your palette going, dishes will include signature 5 Napkin sliders, beer battered corn dogs and more.
Tickets are $47. There is a VIP option, which will gain you access an hour early and an additional grouping of beer tastings  http://5napkinburger.com/
Eater Eve
On November 12th, Eater will be hosting their third annual Eater Awards. This year, we are lucky to have access to a preview of this event through Eater Eve. It all goes down November 11th at the Bowery Hotel
Tickets are $95 and include tastings from 10 chefs along with a 3 hour open bar. Great deal, especially for the caliber of chefs who will be creating the dishes
They promise a chance to witness miracles. I’m counting on it. http://eater.com/eatereve/

First Food Weekend Post Sandy
A few days into storm recovery and the effort from the food scene in New York has reminded me once again why I love this city. Food trucks are back on the scene dishing out free meals to those who need it. Restaurants and their dedicated workers are finding creative ways to serve dinner to patrons tonight (do you fancy outdoor bbq or dinner by candlelight). Proceeds from many resturants are going directly to Sandy relief efforts.
On the top of my list, Motorino is serving handmade dough, by candlelight and proceeds will go to the Red Cross.....
That's a meal you won't have to feel guilty about.
If you have the means, please get out there and support our restaurants as we move through this weekend and the next few weeks!
Things to note this weekend:
- The rescheduled LES Pickle Festival cancelled
- NY Taste Monday November 5th has been cancelled. The event will not be rescheduled for 2012.
Follow me on twitter and let us know as restaurants come back to life!
