“Fire? What kind of fire?” She perked up at the mention of fire. “Was it red like normal fire, or was it like, blue? Back in Tevinter I heard that some mage’s fire is a different color.”
“It’s when you jokingly annoy someone I suppose. One of the mages set another mages robes on fire. Normally pranks aren’t that extreme though.” It seemed like an easy concept, but trying to describe it wasn’t an easy task.

She smiled warmly, her demeanor became rather bubbly. “I’m glad you’re okay, I have a potion if your head hurts.” She paused, and tilted her head to the side, appearing like she was desperately trying to remember something. “Oh! Right. Introductions. I’m Vesiara, I’m new to the Inquisition. And you’re important. Probably. Wait, did that come off badly?”
“I am fine now, thank you.” She was glad to be away from the shouting. Some arguments got too heated. It was surprising to see someone would come to check on those that were dealing with such surroundings.

She tilted her head to the side, confused. “Pranks?” The concept seemed totally unfamiliar to her, the word sounded foreign on her tongue. “What are a pranks?” She tried to hide the confusion on her face, and likely failed.
“There was an amazing view from the taller stories. You’re right about them being extremely tall. I guess it’s because there are so many of us.” She shrugged, not knowing entirely why they constructed the Circles in such a way.
“Aside from dull, there were a few interesting moments. The mages in Kinloch Hold weren’t known for their positive behavior. They pulled quite a number of pranks and there were always couples sneaking around. The rest of us always had to ensure the Templars didn’t find out.” She had to admit there had been enjoyable moments. Only the other mages could make it so.

She paused, contemplating showing him or not. She decide the reward was worth the risk, and slowly rolled up on of her sleeves, revealing brands of her own.
“Same thing that brought you out here I’d expect, unless those tattoos are your doing, in which case I’d say that you never saw this, but I’ve never seen vallaslin like yours before.” She kept her hands away from her weapons, although in all likelihood she could reach them in time to block his sword. What she lacked in size and brawn she made up for in dexterity.

Grunting noncommittally, he shrugged and turned back to his fire, keeping her well in his line of sight. Whatever she claimed, she could very well be another hunter. And if not, a woman travelling alone this far into the mountains seemed strange. “Speak, then. You’re far from the city… what brings you here?”

She shook her head. “No thanks, I might spill it again, and we wouldn’t want that.” She ran her hand through her hair. “Thank you, Cullen. It was rather kind of you to do that.”
Cullen wrapped the leather around her wrists, effectively covering her tattoos.
“There! Now no one will have to know.” He smiled, winking at her before picking up his cup of tea.
“Would you like another cup?” He offered, still smiling,

“The south is fond of its Chantries. I heard that in Val Royeaux that they sometimes have Chantries inside other Chantries, and multiple Chantries inside buildings.” She smiled.
“You grew up in one of those Circles? What was it like besides dull? I have to imagine the view would be beautiful, to my knowledge they’re usually very very tall.”
“I’m not sure how it is normally. I spent my childhood in the Circle until I was conscripted into the Grey Wardens. It was a life of dullness and studying needless to say.” She couldn’t remember doing much else from reading and practicing her magic skills.
“The South as a Grey Warden has been interesting though. It’s cold, but there’s a lot to see if you know where to look. Aside from Chantries and statues of Andraste, there’s some nice taverns and forests.” There were other sights as well, but those seemed to be the main points.

thefereldenideal “You’re one of those wardens, aren’t ya?” The elf asked, sitting on top of a small building, her legs carelessly dangling off the edge. Her leather armor matched the brown of the tiles.

She paused, considering it for a moment. He hadn’t done anything to make her not trust him, but she was also very careful around letting people get close to her. She decided that she could trust him, at least regarding this, and put her wrists out.
“I… I wouldn’t say a word. Maker no. I wouldn’t you want you to go back to that Maker forsaken place…” His eyes were sympathetic. He wished he realized it sooner. He could have done more for her. He could do more for her.
“Excuse me a moment!” Cullen climbed up the ladder, and rummaged through his trunk. He knew he had some spare leather somewhere.
“Aha!” He slid down the ladder and walked over to his desk, placed the leather down, and cut two thick pieces, and two longer, thinner pieces.
“Hold out your wrists.” His tone was calm. Comforting. The poor girl was fearful enough. He wanted her to trust him. No, he needed her to trust him.

“They call you the Herald of Andraste I assumed you believed in the Maker. My apologies.”
“But yes, they’re very dead, and they’re with whatever God they worship. Perhaps we should leave so we don’t join them in the afterlife?”

She nodded slowly. “I know you have a Vint here, don’t tell him. I don’t want to go back.” She looked up at Cullen, attempting to meet his eyes, her eyes watering ever-so-slightly.
He knelt down beside her and gently lifted her wrist.
“Oh Maker…” He whispered.
“You– You escaped?”

“To speak to you.” She spoke plainly, as if the answer was obvious. “And I would also like you to point you have no reason to not believe me.”
“You wanted someone to understand you. Well, be careful what you wish for because I do.”

“So you say… as of yet I’ve no reason to believe you.” His hands curled as he eyed her warily, resisting the urge to draw his blade. “What is it you want?”

She shook her head. “No, I didn’t.” She unconsciously emphasized the I. She continued to try and clean the tea off the floor, putting more force into the towel than was necessary by anyone’s standards.
His gaze followed her hands. This girl was hiding something that’s for sure. His head tilted sideways, eyes slightly narrowed in thought. “Did you burn your wrist?” The question was slow. As if as he asked, he’d put the pieces together. He took a step towards her.

“They’re still very, very dead. regardless of how you go out, they’re with your Maker now.”
"How lucky can they be? They're dead."
“They died quick deaths, instead of slowagonizing ones. That’s how lucky someone canbe before dying.”

"No, your great-granddaughter had to become a cross dresser!"
"Stop me? He invited me."
"Ah, I see you have a sword! I have one too! They're very manly. And tough."
"Lemma hear you say AH!!"
"You wanna stay, you gotta work."
"I am the guardian of lost souls!"
"My ancestors sent me a lizard to help me?"
"Down, Betsy!"
"Make a note of this; Dishonour on you, dishonour on your cow!"
"Beautiful, isn't it?"
"Look, this tattoo will protect me from harm!"
"Punch him. That's how men make friends."
"Relax, and chant with me."
"Stay that to my face, you limp noodle!"
"I do love surprises."
"He started it!"
"I didn't ask for his name, I asked for your name."
"He doesn't talk about me much."
"Tomorrow, the real work begins."
"Look, it's porridge. And it's happy to see you!"
"I think my bunny slippers just ran for cover. Come on, scare me, girl!"
"Wait, you forgot your sword!"
"That's not funny."
"Yeah, 'cause I owe you a knuckle sandwich."
"Oohh, tough guy."
"I'll get that arrow, pretty boy. And I'll do it with my shirt on."
"Let's get down to business."
"I'll make a man out of you."
"You haven't got a clue."
"I'm never gonna catch my breath."
"This guy's got her scared to death."
"Heed my every order, and you might survive."
"Pack up, go home, you're through."
"What do you see?"
"We can avoid them easily."
"We should return it to her."
"Hey, this is not a good idea. What if somebody sees you?"
"If you're so worried, go stand watch!"
"We're doomed!"
"I know we were jerks to you before, so let's start over."
"I'm king of the rock!"
"We have to fight!"
"Snake! AGH!!"
"Boy, that was close."
"That was vile!"
"I never want to see a naked man again."
"Don't look at me, I ain't biting no more butts."
"This guy's messing with my plans!"
"We're not finished!"
"I'll hold him, and you punch."
"I saw that."
"You like him, don't you?"
"That's better! Much better! Let's go!"
"You owe me a new pair of slippers."
"Excuse me? I think the question is who are you?!"
"I should have your hat for that!"
"Think of instead; a girl worth fighting for."
"Bet the local girls thought you were quite the charmer."
"He thinks he's such a lady killer."
"Yeah, the only girl who'd love him is his mother."
"I'm sorry."
"Oh, sure, save the horse."
"Fire!"
"You missed! How could you miss?!"
"We need help!"
"I knew we could do it! You the man! Well, sort of."
"From now on, you have my trust."
"He's wounded, get help!"
"I can explain."
"So, it is true!"
"I knew there was something wring with you!"
"I didn't mean for it to go this far!"
"It was the only way!"
"My debt is repaid."
"But you can't just..."
"I never should have left home."
"Maybe what I really wanted was to prove that I could do things right. So that when I looked in the mirror, I'd see someone worthwhile. But I was wrong. I see nothing."
"I can see you, lookit you, you look so pretty!"
"I mean, you risked your life to help people you love."
"At least you had good intentions."
"You ... lied to me?"
"We started this thing together and that's how we'll finish it. I promise."
"They popped out of the snow! LIKE DAISIES!"
"Go home."
"Why should I?"
"Please, you have to help!"
"No one will listen!"
"Huh, I'm sorry, did you say something?"
"Okay. Any questions?"
"Ugly concubines."
"I tire of your arrogance."
"So what's the plan?"
"You don't have a plan?!"
"Way ahead of you, sister."
"I need firepower."
"Your worst nightmare."
"Guess you're out of ideas."
"Not quite."
"I am ready, baby!"
"That was a deliberate attempt on my life!"
"Stand aside! That creature is not worth protecting."
"She's a hero!"
"That is enough!"
"I've heard a great deal about you."
"You can have his job."
"Is she allowed to do that?"
"You fight good."
"The flower that blooms in adversity is the rarest and most beautiful of all."
"You don't meet a girl like that every dynasty!"
"The greatest gift in honor is having you for a (enter whatever)"
"If you ask me she should've brought home a man!"
"Would you like to stay forever?"
"Dinner would be great."
"You know, she gets it from my side of the family!"

Vasiara shyly moved towards the Lady Seeker. “I don’t know, I heard loudness, so I came. Are you okay?” She rubbed her lower arm absentmindedly and darted her eyes around, taking in her surroundings.

“All of that yelling is giving me a headache.” She rubbed her temples as if that would help. It was only then that she noticed someone else was there.
“Forgive me. Is there something you needed?” She didn’t recognize the newcomer. Hopefully she hadn’t heard the yelling; it would spare her a headache.

She smiled. “Yes, I suppose your right. What about here? What’s it like growing up and living in the South? I spend most of my time on the road or in taverns, so my perception of life down here is a bit skewed.”
“That’s all that matters then, right? I’m glad to hear you’re treated better.” She wasn’t fond of the way people looked down upon elves, or anyone else for that matter. She knew how it felt to be treated as inferior. It was hurtful. Getting out of that mess was always for the better.
