Had finally gathered the nerve to try something more complex in gpose, was working on a shot for about a half hour when the game crashed in the middle of me trying to figure out how to make actors gaze at each other, went "fuck it, guess that's over, at least let me get a simple shot out of this", for some reason my screenshot kept magically disappearing from my computer when I tried to edit it in a photo editor, finally just uploaded it to discord to edit on my laptop instead, didn't realise it'd upload as an ugly ass crunchy webp, kind of feel like I'm being cosmically punished for something, here's Sosiel and Dayir anyway.

I think I get it -- Diablo III's playerbase seems largely leaderboard-focused. The social element, the competition, the PvP, is the whole impetus. Whereas my main ARPG, my most beloved, is Grim Dawn, and that has always had a more self-driven atmosphere. It has multiplayer, but I think it was added after the fact and it's not a competitive mode at all. There are no seasons and no leaderboards. You want to get better gear, improve your build, take on big challenges, simply because you want to. Because getting to the point of, say, melting Nemesis mobs is fun and satisfying. There's more freedom to fuck around and try weird builds (the "how many pets/minions can you have at once" challenge is always a good time), too. If you're not focused on staying current with The Meta™, then you have more creative freedom and freedom to just... fail a lot.

This is an entirely neutral comparison, I obviously am a self-driven gamer naturally but I think it's perfectly reasonable that other people prefer to compete with fellow players. It's just funny that I always forget that's a thing 💀

reading the Solo Self-Found guide on Icy Veins and realising that because I've never engaged with the multiplayer mechanics in my near-decade of playing Diablo III, the way I naturally play the game is considered agonisingly slow and painful by "normal" standards ◉_◉

Dayir originally had no remaining memories of the aetherobiologist Angevere until her foray into the Crystal Tower, at which point she developed complex feelings of sorrowful affection for her engineer. We could probably fill a book with her opinions on Emet-Selch, I don't even know where to begin there (especially since they vary depending on what time period we're discussing). And her opinions on the adults of the Mol clan are the least complicated -- she loves them all unconditionally, even the ones who lowkey did not appreciate having to take care of a random and very strange baby someone found out in the wild (understandable, really).

Also, as I was in the middle of watching that, my computer completely lost Bluetooth capability. It's just suddenly gone. All right. There's a reason why I can't poke fun at the whole SJM/"romantasy" thing going around and that's because I remember the quality of the books from my own "paranormal romance" phase 2 decades ago, and if I ever dare to forget it, some low-budget streaming service called "Passionflix" will put out a series based on one of my old faves and the trailer will spiritbomb me with cringe (affectionate)

I love that Morrigan is known to everyone as "the mean witch" and then one day she just... isn't, and that seems to make people upset, as if it's a betrayal of her character. I think that's a thing that happens, a lot. You're raised a certain way, in a certain closed environment, and then you're thrust into the world and your hackles are raised against it for a long time, and then things keep happening to you -- big things, important things, things that change you whether you like it or not -- and one day someone who knew you in your early 20s and thought you were so cool back then meets you now and is like "you used to be such a badass! you used to hate your mother! you used to want different things! why aren't you the way that you were?" and you realise they've mistaken a survival adaptation for the entirety of your personality and potentiality.
