Fired

Garmadon and Lloyd are prisoner, at the mercy of Garmadon's fired General #1s. They're about to get fired into a volcano.

Turns out, volcanoes are hot.

And Lloyd doesn't have the same heat immunity as his father.

Lloyd’s hands balled into fists. “They don’t admire you!” He snapped, whirling around to face his father. “They want to kill you! And I’m stuck in here with you! They’re going to kill me, too.” His fear cascaded into anger. “The only chance we have is if my friends somehow find us and fight their way up before the generals decide to throw us in.”

Lloyd grins as Zippy chases the laser pointer onto his bed, her pupils wide as she hunted, tail twitching randomly and letting out little chirps.

When Kai enters, the feline straightens as if she hadn’t just been playing. Lloyd flashes the laser pointer again and she immediately crouches, returning to hunt mode.

Kai watches the kitten bemusedly as she races around the room, chasing the red dot.

Lloyd points the light at Kai’s foot.

The Red Ninja laughs. “I don’t think she’ll—”

Zippy pounces on his foot, tiny claws extended to catch her prey.

Kai yelps with surprise and Lloyd guides Zippy away with a laugh.

The Master of Fire grins and extends his hand, summoning a few sparks. They fizzle out before they hit the floor, but Zippy sees them, and her attention is immediately drawn to the sparkles drifting down from Kai’s hand.

The kitten runs over and bats at the sparks.

“Don’t burn her,” Lloyd says in alarm.

“I know what I’m doing,” Kai reassures. The sparks are too cool to burn, and they extinguish before they could do damage anyway.

Lloyd holds his hand out much like Kai and a few green sparks fall from his fingers. The Ninja both laugh as Zippy bounces between the green and red, unable to decide which to play with so deciding on both.

When the kitten lays on her side, panting, both Ninja recall their powers. Lloyd winces slightly as he does but is immediately smiling again as he carries the exhausted Zippy to her cat bed.

“And that is how you tire out an energetic cat,” Kai declares.

Lloyd beams, his attention still on his cat as he strokes her fur. She purrs and rolls onto her back, demanding more pets.

Kai slips from the room, delighted to see Lloyd so at ease.

Lloyd can't read.

And, if anyone noticed Lloyd’s light on a little longer than the others most nights, as well as Zane’s sudden disappearances, they didn’t say anything.

(Lloyd shifts uncomfortably, not quite on board with the idea of traveling without protection—especially with his powers acting weirdly ever since the Oni. Zippy notices his change of mood and trills at him, pressing her head to his hand. Lloyd smiles and scratches her fur, earning a contented purr from the feline.)

Dangerbuff: nothing is going to happen Dangerbuff: I’ll make sure of it

Fireboy: same hree Fireboy: im not swimming so i can guard

Frosty: There are some ice cream packets in the freezer. Frosty: I will pack them into a cooler.

8:42 am They arrive at the beach Nya selected. It is a small cove, secluded from other people and protected from the wind. Fluffy white clouds dot the sky and the sun shines bright and warm. On one side of the cove, larger waves roll up onto the sand. The Bounty touches down near the middle.

The team sets up a small snack station near the ship, in the shade of a beach umbrella. The cooler of snacks, kept cold with Zane’s elemental ice, sits at the base of the umbrella. Multicolored bags and towels are scattered around the site, though only Kai’s beach towel is unfolded.

Lloyd immediately makes a grab for an ice cream. Nya smacks his hand away with a glare in his direction. Lloyd huffs in annoyance but retreats, following Jay and Zane towards the ocean water.

“Kai, don’t let anyone eat until after they’re done swimming,” Nya tells her brother as he lounges back on his towel.

Without opening his eyes, Kai gives her a little salute. “You got it, sis.”

Nya rolls her eyes but runs after the others.

Cole emerges from the Bounty with a surfboard and heads off to the larger waves.

It’s not long until shrieks ring across the secluded cove as a water fight breaks out. Kai is not jealous but simply watches from the dry beach, cheering on whoever appears to have the upper hand.

Usually it’s Nya, no doubt enhancing her water splashes with her powers, usually targeting Lloyd and Jay with the larger attacks and not so hard at Zane.

Hearing the commotion, Cole runs over to join in.

Laughter rings out across the cove.

Soon tired out, the team gathers in the shade of the umbrella and snacks on cold treats.

Kai decides that this is a part of the beach he doesn’t mind.

(The video shows Lloyd surrounded by several golden retriever puppies, all of them trying to lick his face and hands. He’s laughing and holding up his hands to stop them from getting to his face but not really trying and definitely not succeeding.

The picture is Lloyd holding a little black shorthair kitten with bright green eyes. He’s holding the kitten like it’s the most precious thing ever, and the feline is resting contentedly in his arms.)

Shadow Line AU

Mostly chatfic style with some written out scenes. Takes place after season 10.

This will be released early on Tumblr and then also on my AO3

First, though, a little background!

The Ninja haven’t told Lloyd that he died after the fight with the Oni, so he just thinks he got knocked out (he was also injured in the battle—they all were). Also, being in the Oni cloud made him feel “weird” and cold, which he hasn’t told anyone and he is still cold.

Cole’s scar saved his life when he fell from the Bounty, but he won’t tell people how, and he has a concussion from the fall.

The Ninja have already asked Zane to not be grammar police when they text :3
