Did you know that the production of one single-use plastic bottle requires about 6 times as much water per bottle as there is in the actual container? Or how about the fact that on average less than 9% of all single-use plastic actually gets recycled? Or that every year about 10 million tons of plastic enters the ocean? That's about 1 garbage truck of plastic entering the ocean PER MINUTE. Single-use plastic is convenient, but far from sustainable! By switching to reusable beverage containers, a single person would save around 1,460 plastic bottles per year. With 14% of all litter coming from beverage containers (that's not even including bottle caps and labels), switching to reusable containers just makes sense. Also let's be honest, bottles beverages are astronomically over-priced. Who wants to pay $5.75 for a small water bottle at the airport? Absolutely no one. Switching to reusable helps the planet, and if nothing less, it saves you money 🤷♀️

Hi guys! I've spent the better portion of my morning trying to come up with an intro post, and so far, all I’ve decided on is that I am absolutely terrible at this. So, in spite of my inability to socially interact or introduce myself, here’s my terribly awkward, first-day-of-school introduction:
I’m Karissa! I am obsessed with the ocean, and if you ever need a sit-in for animal trivia night, I’m your girl. My obsession with nature pretty much started when I was 5 years old, watching Steve Irwin in “The Crocodile Hunter,” and I’ve been annoying my friends with wildlife facts ever since. Fast forward a few years and a few states later, and my infatuation with the ocean and the environment is only more ridiculous. Now, I try to be more sustainable in my habits, and get involved in ways that make sense for me. My life can be pretty chaotic from living in 3 states in 4 years, so I’ve definitely had to get crafty in my ways of getting involved, and keeping up with eco-friendly habits.
I’m always looking for tips and tricks on how to be better at this whole sustainability thing, so if there’s something that works well for you, let ya girl know🤙 Need help figuring out how to get started yourself? Message me! I love giving people advice on how to be green 💚 Mahalo
