"I didn't think we had to be on much of a basis at all to say that," Eddie responded sheepishly, nudging Adrian's cake and a plastic fork in his direction. "And I'm used to being the one to set up the dates, I've only ever been taken on one by someone else once. The only guy, besides you, clearly, that I've ever gone out with." He shrugged his shoulders and opened up his container, mushing up the refreshingly chilled chocolate pudding with the soft, moist chocolate. cake.
He had to admit that maybe this wasn't all that he'd been hoping for in terms of a date. Adrian wasn't even dressed up that nicely and he felt a bit silly. There just wasn't much... effort in all of this. Of course he wouldn't say that to his face.
"I don't drink, actually. But thank you," he responded politely to the question that was thrown at him. "Just... have a really long and difficult history with alcohol is all." He hated the stuff, actually, and he hated the smell of beer that was wafting in his direction but he made sure to keep a cool face, eyes down at his cake as he poked his fork into it. "So what brought you here? You always seem to be with someone or another."
A Date of Some Sort
Several sips into his bottle, and the fizzy potion was working its magic. It was a funny thing what alcohol did to you. It just made all the wrong things seem right. Sadly, the twenty dollar beer hadn’t cast its spell onto the young man… yet. It was the a small voice, barely above a whisper, that broke the placid state Adrien had fallen into. Slowly prying open his right eye, a figure resembling Eddie, came into view.
“Ha, we on the joke cracking basis now?” The blonde chuckled, before closing his eyes again. When the curly brunette mentioned cake, Adrian’s eyebrows shot up. He hadn’t exactly been hungry, but a little cake never hurt anyone. “Didn’t think I could handle it myself, huh?” he teased, sitting up straighter; no longer resting on his elbows. Eyes still closed, Adrian felt the scent of cologne waft up to his nose. This prompted the young man to actually look at his date.
Eddie had cleaned up, and nicely. But would Adrian admit that to his face? Ha. Think again—- never in a hundred years. He’d rather jump off the dock before he complimented him. It was a contrast: the well-shaved, well-dressed brunette sitting alongside a scruffy blonde with nothing but a pair of Converse and a ratty flannel on. Okay, the flannel did look messy, but it was designer. It was supposed to look like that.
"Can’t believe you actually took my message to heart and dressed up, man." A low laugh rumbled in the back of his throat. Not really sure what to do, or what to talk about, Adrian gestured towards the case of liquor. "Fancy some dirty beer?"

May I emphasize the word most. I'm not being a baby, I'm being a person with a fear. Maybe illogical, but a fear nonetheless. I'm sure there's something you'd refuse to touch that I would find ridiculous.
Most spiders are not poisonous and won’t hurt you. They may look scary but they’re not. Don’t be a baby. Just capture it under a bowl and paper and put it outside.
#yo yo yo#it's evelyn#there#we both did it for no good reason#i'm so glad you got a character though

Eddie just watched Adrian with a slightly curious expression, stiffening when he began to flick through the pages. His journal contained poems, sketches, entries just like any other one, but it also had a copy of the photos he'd taken for work that he liked. "Uhm, just... my log. Thing. Yeah, careful please," he said with slight discomfort when a sepia tone picture of woods and a solitary road fell out, mountains towering in the background.
"Sorry, wasn’t trying to be. It just happens sometimes." Eddie licked his lips anxiously and sat down on the couch, searching through his leather satchel for one of his pens and his journal. He opened it to the back inside cover and held out both objects to his favorite band member, embarrassed by himself for how badly this was going. "I just figured that you’d be beyond a dating site, I guess." He looked around the white and cream colored cottage, it was open and airy and very vacation home like. "I rather like it. But I can see how you wouldn’t. I’m Eddie, by the way."

Eddie was shocked when he saw who his date would be, out of everybody there he would've been just as surprised to get one of the lesbians. From their first conversation, he could tell immediately that they were insanely different. And maybe not in a good way for once. He could handle differences, he really could, but he didn't like the disrespect or haughty attitude that had been presented to him.
He was still a fan of Against, though, and he believed strongly in second chances and that there was good in everybody.
He made sure to put on something suitable, a white cotton button down he left partially undone, black jeans, and his favorite black leather boots. He combed his shoulder length curly hair back and used some of the expensive cologne his oldest little sister got him for Christmas. He'd been baking a chocolate pudding cake before that and so he cut out two slices and put them in containers, knowing that Adrian was supposed to set up the date but feeling like he should pitch in somehow. He'd never actually been taken on a date, he'd always been the date setter upper so to say.
Once he decided he looked decent and everything was ready to go he made his way out to the docks, quickly spotting the blonde haired rock star sitting at the end of the main leg.
"Long time no see," he said, loud enough to be heard but soft enough not to break the peace of the evening. "I, erm, brought some cake. I made it today. I just thought I should contribute something." He eased himself down by Adrian and gave him a dimpled smile. "It's really good, I snuck a few bites earlier."
A Date of Some Sort
The minute his cell had beeped, alerting the blonde that it would be him setting up the entire date, Adrian had rolled his eyes. And to make it even better, who could his date be other than his pitiful roommate. Okay, the guy wasn’t that bad, but still. Eddie had seemed like a pushover to the man from their first, aka their only, conversation. Maybe Adrian was being too harsh, judging before actually getting to know the curly-haired individual. Ha, yeah right. Like the egocentric bastard cared about being harsh.
So what had the rock star set up for the date? Nothing too fancy: just a few beers and the dock. It was something that didn’t take much thought, and anyways getting the alcohol had been easy. Sure, the drinking age in America was twenty-one, far higher than Britain’s, but the minute the man discovered the grocer was a fan of Against— well he’d pulled a few strings. Strings involving several signatures and band merch.
The sand stuck between the dock’s boards crunched beneath his sneakers as waves crashed softly against the beams supporting it. Beer case in hand, Adrian made his way to the end of the wooden structure; seating himself down, legs handing off the edge. Before opening up a bottle of the fizzy liquor, the blonde pulled out his iPhone to message his roommate and now his date:
Text → Eddie
meet @ boardwalk. don't stutter and make urself cute (;
Placing the bottle’s mouth between his lips, Adrian chugged. The alcohol tasted cheep, but its job wasn’t to taste good, it was to get the two drunk. Maybe that’d make this date a bit easier. Anyways, everything was better when you got drunk. Leaning back on his elbows, legs still swinging off the ledge, the young man closed his eyes. All he could do now was wait.

No. I would stay at least ten miles away in case your spiders happen to break out or something. That's just a bad idea from the get go. Esmeralda, that's a neat name! It's very regal and elegant sounding!
Lighten up. I’m only joking. But it was my pleasure. I probably should just be a specialist in spiders. Found the first ever spider museum to force people to get over their fear. And you’ll be one of the first guests, VIP of course. Eddie. Nice name..it suits you. Just call me Esmeralda.
#i'm glad i got off today though#i had a math test#a lab to turn in#a spanish skit i hadn't memorized to perform#and a short story due#and i didn't do like half of it whoops#what's made your week so rough?

Oh my god, please don't go into further detail. I have enough nightmares already without that being thrown in there.
I feel the same way. My cousin has a strange fascination with bugs but then again she also live off of the earth after she’s eighteen. I think I started hating spiders when I learned about a spider whose bite made your skin fall off.

"D-D-Don’t stutter. It’s not cute. And sure, you got a pen on you?" The blonde had forgotten his usual sharpie companion in his suitcase. Unpacking was not his forte. "I didn’t question anything, just set my limits. I couldn’t give two fucks about your sexuality. And what? I thought this little operation was open to the public. Didn’t know there were any restrictions and shit. Though,if it were up to me, I wouldn’t be staying in these low class cabins.”

No. Not at all. I love being outside and hiking but I can't stand bugs. I think it all started when my cousin tangled a spider in my hair when I was three...
I think everyone is at least a little bit afraid of spiders. They aren’t particularly the most beautiful looking things, are they?
#oh my god it was worse this morning#my car skidded#and#yeah#but i'm okay#and i don't have school tomorrow#it's negative thirty#and a little cold#but hi hello#i don't think we've met#i'm evelyn

Because they're spiders! They could be poisonous! They could jump on your face! Crawl up your shirt in your sleep! Bite you!
I don’t get why so many people are so scared of tiny house spiders! They wouldn’t hurt a fly! Wait.. they would actually hurt a fly- but I’m pretty sure you’re not a fly so I don’t think you have anything to worry about.

That's the type that's sitting on my wall right now. I love being outdoors but bugs terrify me. I'm just gonna go ahead and lay that out there for everybody to see and pray there aren't any pranksters here. I'm Eddie, b-t-dubs. Nice to meet you!
I think most people are, spiders are freaking scary. Especially the big ones.

Eddie. Great to meet you, too. I am quite the fan of dragons, something to definitely look into. It'll kinda sound lame but my all time favorite movie is The Secret Life of Walter Mitty.
"It’s about dragons and fighting, like… It’s just great. Anyways, I’m Lathan, nice to meet you."

Excuse you. I can stand up for myself perfectly well. Thank you for smearing arachnid guts all over my white wall. I'm Eddie, by the way, who might you be?
I see we have a major drama queen on our hands. God only knows how you spent the last however many years of your life without getting pummeled to death. I see no hairs. Except the ones sticking up on the back of your neck. Man you really are afraid of these things. I’ve got it. There it’s gone. How easy was that? I see a bit of it’s guts right there on the wall though. Oops?
#shoot i can't remember what we were talking about#i forgot to look before I set this all up#but#uhm#hi#no school tomorrow#whoop
