*Spoiler alert* (If you haven't seen The Batman yet).
I have to admit that I'll probably never hear this song again without thinking of its role in The Batman. I use the word "role" purposefully. Not only was "Something in the Way" an appropriate theme for the film, that maybe not everyone would have thought of, but the decision to interweave the song's melody into the score, playing key notes at pivotal plot points, makes it hard to not now associate it with Matt Reeves take on "The Bat". At first, I had mixed feelings on the use of the Nirvana track, which could be viewed as an easy pander to the 90's crowd, but after hearing its incorporation into the soundtrack, which felt organic and intrinsic, I have to admit that composer Michael Giacchino's choice and employment of "Something in the Way" became one of my more appreciated aspects of The Batman.

What to say...
This is all awkward and clumsy, but I feel the need to speak...I just don’t know how to anymore. On my mind tonight: Where we are--did we have any choice in it? At all? Or was it all just the chemicals in our brain reacting to the circumstances at the moment. Free will, all that stuff you learn in religion and philosophy. Is it anything really? Or are we just set on a course at the beginning, and all the turns and bends just illusory for decisions we think we made? This is crap. I know. But it was necessary for me to get something out...tonight of all nights. I hope to get better, but I needed to break the shell. Often that’s messy and bloody.
