#there's really only one way my fellow Americans misspell my wallet name #(add a second N)#which is basically “eh whatever”#the much more common problem is that my wallet name is one letter off from a closely-related-but-different name #and people get those two names mixed up annoyingly often #I mind that a lot #I have gotten very careful about enunciating #and my wallet name is 3 syllables while the other name is only 2 syllables #but people still get them confused #...to be fair the third syllable is a schwa #still bugs me though #look! a poll!#liz reblogs random things

Ok so today I was on the bus with another trans guy and we were talking about how hard it is to get testosterone. The waiting lists, the price, all the doctors you have to go to, that kind of stuff. Except, we were calling it ’T’, like you do when you’re both closeted and in public.

Then suddenly the elderly lady sitting behind us was like ‘young men, either I’m going crazy or you both have never heard of supermarkets, they have shelves full of tea there! Do you need directions to one?’

To which my buddy starts to explain, because why not. ‘Well you see, we’re both trans, and… ’

The lady didn’t wait for him to finish his sentence. ‘Oh no, I don’t mind that at all! Now do you want to know how to get to a place that sells tea? I’m actually heading there right now!’

We let her take us to the supermarket. We let her show us, excitedly, where the tea was. We both bought loads.

we still get immediately shoved out of our immersion in tv shows or films when The Girl find a dead body and immediately shrieks - we just don't find it realistic because we're pretty confident most people would gasp rather than shriek (i.e. sharp inhale rather than sharp exhale) and it also feels unnecessarily (and predictably) misogynistic too, as men encountering corpses almost never do the same on screen

also of course please do tell us if you've actually encountered a corpse unexpectedly, because tumblr is absolutely a place where some people have done this thing and we love a good anecdote

suddenly imagining "burst into song" as a potential response

#liechtenstein is a mini-country in europe #sandwiched between switzerland and austria #it's a semi-constitutional monarchy that exists mostly because a rich austrian family wanted a home base #without a higher lord playing middleman between them and the holy roman emperor (aka the habsburgs)#so they bought two chunks of mountain nobody was doing much with but which didn't have an official overlord #and the emperor said “okay cool we'll smush those bits together into one principality and call it liechtenstein after your family castle”#then I think it was like a hundred years before any of the family members actually went to liechtenstein #because obviously the rich aristocracy have better things to do than go hang out in rural mountain districts #central european political history is wild #also I have in fact been to liechtenstein!#my family drove through en route from switzerland to bavaria #and specifically stopped the car and got out on the side of the road to walk around and admire the scenery (mostly mountains) for 15 minute #so we could properly say we'd been there rather than just driving through #look! a poll!#liz reblogs random things
