You know, i never thought that i could - with no preparation, whatsoever - make a graphic novel. But somehow i'm making one for my bachelor project and it's really scary.
It's about a small medieval city, that unfortunately got invaded due to a missing wooden pin, a carrot and some geese.
Here's a test page i did for it!

uuuuuuuuuuuh got in one of those moods to draw these goobers again, but with a specific vibe ya'know?
I also tried something new with their designs, at least for me (not that anyone here would know cuz I haven't posted them but I digress).
Anyhow, I like Tommy and Tubbo, especially with how unhinge I can make them ((Tubbo)) :)
#waoow cool cool cool!#love the spikeyness#esp tommys tail is 👌🏻👌🏻#peak shape#tommyinnit#tubbo#dsmp#art rb

I had a dream that i interviewed tommyinnit about why he likes "like a complete unknown" so much because i thought it was kinda whack. We had a great and honest conversation and i woke up with the feeling that i get why he likes it, but i can't remember the reason.

Okay, here’s an interesting question. What hobbies do you guys have that wouldn’t be apparent from your online presence? Like something you spend a lot of time doing or thinking about beyond whatever you post on your blog.
#i'm leading a scouts group lolll#my one and only hobby since i'm 14#other than that i like to think about word origins a lot#today it was “klo” (toilet in german) and why we went with the short form of “kloake” instead of “latrine”#we could have had a whole other word!!#klo ist son prölliges wort#pröllig ist auch toll#ich liebe deutsch

been trying to improve my values and color through maprunch and photo studies and painting demos. haven‘t done many and it reaaaaally sucks when the pieces don‘t turn out how i want them to, but i feel like i‘m getting a bit better through this practice. tutorial below:
————————
I also tried to establish a workflow, so i don‘t get overwhelmed by tring to capture all the information at once.
At first i‘m looking for composition. I want to either put the horizon line at the upper 1/3 mark, or the lower one, never right in the middle (because thats boring). And the focal point / point of biggest contrast goes on one of the vertical 1/3 lines.
then i‘m looking for big shadow and light shapes. it’s easier for the eye to group smaller shapes together. kind of abstract.
Then comes the hardest part: colors, saturation and contrast. i think i still stay too much in the grays and whites. i almost never go into black and my contrast is always a bit low because of that. then i oversaturate stuff to keep it differentiated from one another because of the lacking contrast xDD
This is a very good example of this: everything is very oversaturated and bascially screaming at the viewer. everything is loud, contrasted and saturated and thus lacks a focal point, even though the buildings on the side are pointing towards the middle building.
Doing these studies is kind of boring sometimes, but very helpful in pointing out my weaknesses and hopefully one day i have learned so much from them, that i can use it to draw some imaginary scenes.

I will be stuck here forever
Sometimes I think I'm stuck in the past but then I remember there are still people here in the year of our Lord 2025, posting about the Dream SMP. Never have I seen a fandom crash and burn THAT hard and I was watching it all go down in 4k in 2022.
#i'd love to see where the fans will be in 20 years#and i bet there will be influences of it in very subtle ways#like some guy will be a script author at that point and write deliberately crimeboys coded characters#or someone makes passerine into a published book and then into a well adapted movie or something like that#there will be ceos who were fans of dsmp in 2020 how crazy is that#fun stuff :)#we will be awesome#dsmp#dsmpblr

Process 😗✌🏻
this is the stage before i used any kind of reference… and for most illustrations this can work just fine, but this one didn‘t. i had to reduce it to the essence of what i even wanted to say with it. And that was: tommy is impressed. wilbur acts unimpressed. quackity is the puppet master of this whole place. And thats too many things for one illustration in this case.
So i found a well lit reference, scaled my subjects and blocked out the background. An Angela Sung painting demo also helped immensely with value grouping.
this ugly excuse of a drawing is the original idea from … *looks at notes* …2021. But i should‘ve kept the cigarette in the final one.
okay ahaha byeee 😵💫

Guys promise me to check your backs when you have backpain. I have waited for a year until it was really unignorable, and,, just don't be like me. Go to the doctor. It's all fixable, i promise. It won't go away by itself. I also promise you that. This chronic pain is of my own making and i'm glad i'm working towards a better me now. Yayyy :D

tubbo as a mouse
i think this would suit his story arc well, because in the beginning he‘s more of a follower, scared (like a mouse) to make his own decisions. and later on he can be a more deranged rat type of guy. you see my vision?

Pushing daisies is if a series of unfortunate events was a doomed comedic lovestory. It has a weird aunt duo like Anastasia McCrumpet. It has goofy sets and props and a wonderfully multigenre story. It has this very nieche, immaculate vibe and humor. Anyone who likes weird stuff should watch it.

Just a heads up for inactivity //
Okay so, i'll be writing my bachelor thesis this semester and working on a book of some sorts as my practical project for that.
Simultaneusly i'll have to put together a portfolio for a master in illustration (AAAAA 😵). Any tips of any kind are very welcome!
Basically the dsmp zine will be on hold for that time, but i'll try working on it when my bachelor stuff gets too overwhelming. I bet it's good to have a side project to switch to for that exact reason. If anyone wants to give feedback on what i have of the zine, feel free to message me! I'm thankful for any kind of feedback, especially for the text parts! I wish there was a way to make it an even more collaborative project, but at the end of the day, they're still my own drawings, which are not exactly collaborative ^^'
Okay, thanks for reading my little post :>
