Dean was usually the baitboy during hunts. Can you imagine an alternative universe/pilot episode where John never left and him and Dean were hunting the Woman in White? And John be like, "I'll lure her and you finish her off" without giving much detail to Dean. Only for Dean to find out later that the ghost attacks unfaithful men and he started questioning John about him being unfaithful, that there were others beside him. Asking Qs if it all happened before they got together-together or during.

Ahhhh poor guy… I don’t even think it would need to be an alternate world — assuming Dean does the math based on the voicemail + the identity of the creature. Like, why else would the WiW target Dad? And even more, why else would Dad abscond completely? Baitboy is devastated either way </3

I have to say tho: I think we see Dean a little differently in this context. I don’t think he could ever bring anything like that up with his dad. I’m inclined to fold in later canon re: Dean standing up to John (unbeknownst to Sam) and getting sent away for it— so there’s a lot at stake here! l don’t think Dean could ever be the person to initiate discussion re the dadfucking arrangement, let alone any kind of dispute. Despite the name, the Dadfucking is actually mostly sonfucking, and Dean is almost always following Dad’s lead. The way I could see it getting anywhere close to this kind of confrontation is John observing Dean reacting like he does in canon to the idea of John's other girlfriends--- but I don't really think Dean would allow himself to feel any sort of entitlement that would rise to the level of bringing it up. My unpopular (but correct) J/D opinion is that Dean wouldn't really like the fact that he likes fucking his dad--- because he recognizes the relationship as parasitic even as he genuinely believes his dad needs him and loves hims, etc. But as always, a good writer can sell me on anything!
