I'm in a reddit group for a larger hungarian city and someone asked where they can go as a queer person to socialise and a bunch of assholes from budapest were in the comments like "you can always take the train up here or join fidelitas :)"

As a Hungarian transfem, I feel obligated to share that Budapest PD tried to ban our biggest Pride parade that is scheduled to take place on the 28th. And they failed. Budapest's mayor announced that the event will take place as a MUNICIPAL event, not just as a private event, which makes the police UNABLE TO DO ANYTHING.

"The Budapest Police HQ issued a ban on a non-existent assembly, and with that power they could have banned the walking of unicorns.

Since the Municipality of Budapest did not make a notification according to the Assembly Act, the ban is irrelevant.

The Municipality of Budapest will organize the Budapest Pride Freedom Festival as a municipal event on June 28, Hungarian Independence Day. And that's it." - Mayor of BP, Gergely Karácsony

Do the cops in Budapest really think they can do anything? Does Orbán and co. really think this is their country? The majority of Hungarians support our cause. The majority of Hungarians support the opposition. When they say "Protect and serve", who are they protecting us from, and who are they serving?
