Hum... I just want to address this before the throwing of hands that have ensued

AI is not aiming human intelligence, nor pigeon intelligence in fact it is not aiming any intelligence. It is only assisting human with tasks using mostly patterns recognition (which... Fun fact pigeons are better than us to do but that's another discourse) to show us something that seems to please us from previous iteration.

So for cancerous cells, having something that has the possibility to detect any doubts in a fraction of a second (even if it isn't a good as a human) is good. In the other hand something trying to sort anything based on human value on blurry subjects (such as handling this or that) and basing this assumption on previous iteration of our society when we want one that evolve (I mean I do at least) is...bad

So yeah asking ai something you would ask an animal to do (react in a fixed but organic manner to a fluctuous stimulus) makes sense whereas asking it to grasp the complexity of a subject... Any subject really is BAD.

A good rule of thumb for AI is "would you trust a trained pigeon to do this?"

"We trained a pigeon to recognise cancerous cell clusters and somehow they're really good at it" okay great, that's something that could plausibly be a thing.

"We trained a pigeon to recognise good CV:s and left it in charge of sorting through all our job applications" uh perhaps consider not doing that.
