This might make me sound totally and completely insane but I swear to god Soul 2020 changed me as a person. I cried at the end and once it was over all I could think was “holy shit I’m alive I can hear music playing and feel my dogs fur and see my Christmas tree and I’m breathing and my heart is beating and I am alive”

EVERY TIME I have heard this lyric, my heart has skipped a tiny beat.

It stings because fathers shouldn't leave. Leaving should be the LAST thing we expect a father to do. Fathers are supposed to stay and shield and love and be the ONE thing that protects from pain, not the very thing that causes it. Just like our partners.

But they do leave. And they leave surprisingly often. And so this lyric alludes to a pain that's novel, yet somehow almost expected. "Leaving like a father", because that's what they do. They run as easily as water flows.

Even her delivery of the lyric has this stabbing air of "yep, I should have known - boys will be boys"

Clearly this song opened a wound that I thought was long sealed, if not fully healed.

One day this lyric won't sting so much, but for now, it's my catharsis. Thank you, Taylor.

It hurts more having "hoax" come right after "peace".

Peace is about giving someone all that you can possibly offer them. Promising to always keep trying, despite knowing that you can never give them the specific tranquility - that sense of peace - that comes with being with your person. It's a song about loving persistently: despite their faults and through all of your own.

That makes it hurt so much more painful to hear "hoax" directly afterwards. It feels like the hoax is a lack of trust in the love you built. Having your unconditional love doubted. "You healed me, so I promised to do my best to do the same for you, and now you aren't even giving me the chance. You took it upon yourself to protect me from your faults, as if I ever wanted anything else".

Idk, I can't verbalize it, but following peace with hoax is just such a strong juxtaposition.

Quarantine Questions

I should preface this by saying this: I didn’t expect that quarantine would go down like this for me. I thought that I was doing the responsible thing for the public by advocating for social distancing. Because I truly believe it is the right thing to do, making sacrifices for the greater good in the midst of an international public health scare. So I prepared the house and lockedown with a smile on my face. For 6 days. But now guess what....

 A BITCH IS BORED. A BITCH is CrUmBLiNg WITHOUT THE TYPICAL STRUCTURE SHE IS ACCUSTOMED TO. A BITCH HAS ADHD. WE’VE BEEN INDOORS AND A BITCH GOT SeasonalAffectiveDepression -- so you read that correctly -- Without the sun, A BITCH GETS SAD. A BITCH NEEDS PHOTOSYNTHESIS. A BITCH NEEDS TO STAY OCCUPIED.  

I mean all this to say that until quarantine is over, I will use social isolation as a means to learn about/try new things. Quarantine Question 1:
