Its been a little while since ive posted. Honestly i havent felt like doing much for a while now. But today was my day off and i ended up rendering a portrait graylead sketch of an OC (no, she doesnt have a name yet) after some doodling. Ive noticed many of my portrait have this blank look on their face. Maybe it's a reflection of my moods 😅 This was done with one pencil. An HB. I get scared of the softer leads. It's been a stressful week. The landlord is selling the house I'm living in and it's driving me nuts and house hunting is also stressing me out and then stressing about money ahhhh🤯🤯😭. so i needed to sit down and colour this image i put on paper ages ago. One would think that this would be therapeutic but no. The art supplies were fighting me, my recording equipment was fighting me. And now even video editing is fkn fighting me😤 god damnit. But we got there. Breaking in a new a5 sketchbook. I need something to carry with me when i leave the house. I love how this idea turned out in spite of paper quality but Tbh would not buy this brand sketchbook again. it's too soft and damages easily when using an eraser. It also doesnt hold inks well we're talking textas and waterbased markers too nothing heavy duty. This is watercolour paints so id expect it to not hold up to it, most dont unless specify they can-which is fine. Wild friday night in. This was a canvas that i fucked. up. Nothing i did made it better or turned out how i wanted.So its been sitting around for weeks. Waiting. Yesterday i saw another piece of art through a shop window while on the tram that i thought was amazing. The whole canvas was bold bright colours with the most intense eyes. Work gave me one mother of a headache. No it wasnt the people yelling down the phone at me mind im over that too 😂 it's just the fluros in the office. I got home still had the headache so i started drawing which progressed to painting and then bam! Full colour painting that i wasnt planning on making just now but ok sure brain. This is LP fan art. Yes i am a fan. Yes i am LPU among other things😅 and no I dont always just draw band members(by band members i mean mike and it's not a crush, it's more just his face is intriguing and i. must.draw. Fellow creatives and artistic types do you find that the urge to draw/paint /write ect strikes you when you cant do anything about it? On the tram to work today I had an idea i wanted to sketch out but of course i didnt have a sketch book to sketch said idea... anyone got suggestions of how to get around having ideas at times where you cant really do anything about them? After this week i needed to create something because shit... Ive been KO'd for part of it with a cold (no one likes being sick but colds tend to linger with me and morph into lung problems😷)and with work because let's be honest i probably work too much but im tryin not to be a broke bitch 😂 so i have no life or time for long stretchs, but also the stress of getting a phone call on monday that my landlord is wanting to sell the property Im living in. Sure she can do what she wants it's her house, it just stresses me because idk what's gonna happen. I need resources to move but life keeps being expensive 😤 Anyway,life rant aside if you got this far i painted this on watercolour paper with my fairly new watercolour pallet, just for something to paint. My day off work. Was planning on catching up on chores and going to drop some hard earned on my new glasses currently on laybuy but instead got up late, and stayed on the couch drawing and painting.😂 Another watercolour and yeah another redhead😂 it's not a selfportrait i think i just understand how light works on red better than darker colours or even blond because i see ginger everyday in the mirror. Side note:There's hardly any black paint used. I dont like using black for shadows because it's generally too harsh. With the hair the watercolour pallet i have has this really gorgeous purple that was amazing for the shadows and burnt Siena mixed with the pink skin tone for shadows on the face. I added a little black to it to get the darker shadows but other than the pupils that's really it. More playing with watercolours. This time on #watercolour paper. The paper is average. While it doesnt lift bad its just not heavy enough to deal with water so it ripples 🤦‍♀️ should have gone with the 300 gsm not the 180gsm. Bought a watercolour pallet after work yesterday because ive been watching A LOT of youtube artists and many of them use watercolours. I remember watercolour pallets from childhood and they. were. horrible! I never liked them or working with them. I just never realised how bad those kids sets were. While this one isnt Amazing (dries a bit chalky and the colours dont stay bright) it's miles better than the crap i had when i was little. God the pigment just flows in comparison. My sketchbook isnt watercolour paper but it didnt bleed through or rip and there's quite a bit on the page too. Have been wanting to try draw a wolf all week. Finally had the time to sit down and draw. Then i decided to crack out my very old water colours and go over the sketch.
