Regardless if you use Ai or not, Ai “art” is a big problem for everyone, absolutely no one is benefiting from Ai “art”. If you buy Ai “art” the person or Ai who is selling it is stealing from you and other artists that actually made the art it takes from. If you use Ai art for any reason you’re a part of the problem, yes it can give you inspo but using it at all hurts artists because it encourages Ai to keep pulling from others.

Ai art will and is taking jobs from people, from graphic designers to painters, Ai art is scary for these and many other professions.

Physical media

I would recommend everyone start getting physical media. This is due to how much we rely on our phones and algorithms that encourage us to get addicted. If we rely on our phones and they start breaking or they slow, it’s because companies are trying to make you keep giving them money by downgrading your devices. Instead of companies focusing on getting money from us, we should be focused on encouraging advancements and durability. To quote Drew Goodin, “Technological advancements don’t feel fun anymore because of the motivations of the companies. It doesn’t feel like we’re trying to make life better when things are made to be as addictive as possible. Technology isn’t supposed to be fun additions to your life, they’re supposed to be new things that your life can revolve around.”

Social media isn’t cool, it’s a tool for communication.

Today someone told me, if you’re not buying something you’re the product; while this was referring to the Ai algorithms that social media’s use, I think it’s a good thing to think about. We all need to think about only keeping the social media apps that help us and that don’t keep us scrolling. I’m not anti social media I just believe social media has become a social pressure thing, not something people choose to have.

One thing about social media that just frustrates me is the amount of ads, there are so many and most don’t even interest me. I like that there are different sites like Pinterest that added links to their pictures, but lots go to a website like SHEIN, and you know it’s going to be bad. This is why I really liked Etsy but with all the ads I can’t bring myself to go on it.

Another thing is I heard something today that kinda shocked me, in the Netflix documentary The Social Dilemma, a person stated “if you’re not paying, you’re the product being sold.” I hadn’t really thought of that. Something really funny is Netflix was playing adds multiple times throughout the whole documentary, showing even it doesn’t follow what it’s promoting.

How this relates to Ai is the amount of Ai ads, they frustrate the life out of me. Why would anyone want to sacrifice good graphic design and marketing techniques for Ai that makes everyone uncomfortable, or make them view your brand as childish? Even without Ai in ads, ads have become such a common thing people don’t even care to skip them or scroll past due to the next ad piping up right after. Ai ads, and the amount of Ads in general, tend to dissuade users but the algorithms keep us coming back. I would re-evaluate what you really want on your feed instead of what YouTube thinks you want.

Ai art is not art due to the lack of a process. No exceptions.

Unpopular opinion but if you don't enjoy the process you should find a different thing to do.

And I think this is true in general but now I'm talking about it in the context of AI.

If you don't enjoy making art and only care about the end piece and how it'll look and how much traction it"lol get online then making art is not something for you, find something you enjoy from start to finish.

Same goes for writing: if you do not enjoy writing and rewriting and then some more and instead want AI to write for you, being a writer is not something you should pursue.

Sure, not every part of creative process is going to be equally enjoyable but you should get satisfaction from solving the problems along the way and you should get a sense of accomplishment on your way of "making the piece yours" and you should have a sense of ownership once you are done.

None of these things will come from typing in a prompt into chatGPT. And I am sad to see so many people are missing on the opportunity to experience the joy of making something with their own hands and brains.

Just give it a try and if you don't like it don't do it again.

But also don't let the expectations of it coming out perfect ruin the fun you are having while making the thing. Because what if I told you this: having fun while creating is the actual purpose of the creative process, not whatever comes out of it.

When you were younger did you ever believe in elfs, or Dracula? These are fictional characters our authors use to represent human emotions and themes that resignate. People online try to do the same things, but with Ai, now how do you make human emotions come through from a robot, stealing art, but we’re going to talk about what risks Ai throw into the dating world.

Ai is a very big risk that wasn’t around in the early internet times, most people wouldn’t have to worry about a picture not being real, many just had to worry about photoshop or catfishing. Catfishing is where people pretend to be others so they can pursue romantic relationships, catfishing became so popular there was then a show made about it. The way Ai comes into this is: Now people have to worry about people they talk to not being real, optional or not. If not optional, Dr Sandra Wheatley, a social psychologist, said dating apps are already "fragile" and adding AI into the mix may only make things worse. "Who you are and who you portray yourself to be are kind of integral to starting a relationship with someone.” She later spoke about how Ai pictures can make dating apps so much scarier due to being unaware whom you’re talking with, which is a major issue.

On the other hand, some people chose to talk to Ai robots, this is also a very dangerous issue due to internet insecurity. “These apps are designed to collect a ton of personal information,” says Jen Caltrider, the project lead for Mozilla’s Privacy Not Included team, that had conducted an analysis. “They push you toward role-playing, a lot of sex, a lot of intimacy, a lot of sharing.” For instance, screenshots from an Ai chatbot show text saying “I love it when you send me your photos and voice.” These apps are dangerous due to many people being unaware of the apps taking data. Another problem is people not knowing where this information goes, if they even know it’s being logged. My final concern with Ai is the Ai chats. One man was told to kill Queen Elizabeth II while talking, another reportedly commited suicide after messaging a chatbot for six weeks. This is a big concern for others who are lonely due to these companies can take advantage of you.

But seriously, why do we get grown people who believe in the WILDEST conspiracy theories about world control (From Antivaxxers, to Flat Earthers, to microships to evil electromagnetic waves the damn Atlantis and Reptiloids), but the ONE TIME we actually get some dystopian type shit for mass propaganda and controll... they just dont do anything. Like i swear (again), you`d think this would be such a FERTILE ground for the conspiracy fanatics to throw a fit and mass hysteria and DO SOMETHING GOOD FOR ONCE. But nope... they are in fact the ones believing those ai videos and pictures like they are real and reposting them as proof of giants and aliens. If someone started spreading some bullshit like: "The devil is infultrating childrens minds through ai and its evil secret hidden messages boOooOo to put evil spirits in their pineal gland and close their third eye" i would pray for their health honestly... ...Not because i`d think they are insane or anything (they probably are though), but because i`d hope they keep doing whatever they are doing lol...

C.ai

This is going to be hard to hear but C.ai, POE, and other Ai platforms are not good for you and others. These platforms steal from many walks of life, they steal from artists, words from sources, and stories from fan fictions. Now if the short term memory loss on these bots hasn’t convinced you itself, let’s look at some other things.

Another big problem with C.ai itself is places like AO3 and even tumblr are dying due to Ai becoming what children use for this, spaces that have been used for communication and exploration of art and literature, are being discarded in place for Ai. People aren’t using the work to see what may be of their passions, you can only find out if you like something by using it; The place where passions are found is school. A huge problem is Ai bots steal from real humans, which makes the ai checker harder and harder to understand due to it being human words. Another thing is: kids aren’t outing in the work to explore if they like journaling about topics or exploring and analyzing literature because Ai is so accessible, so if you can find the passion how will places like AO3 stay alive?

Everyone needs to be against all Ai no matter what shape or form Ai is presented in. Mind you, Ai isn’t the enemy, the companies behind Ai are. Ai has no place in any of our lives, especially not a front row seat to our personal data or lives.

Here’s a surprisingly unpopular opinion!: if your stance on ai is “gen ai bad” then that should include ALL gen ai! (ChatGPT, ai images, and yes, even Cai) I don’t care if it’s “easy” or “fun” or “just ai,” it all SUCKS! Need to solve an equation? Use a calculator! (Desmos is a really good graphing calculator!) Too complex? Look on the INTERNET! (Yes, we still have it, you don't need ChatGPT and never did.)

ai images? Here’s a funny tip to make your images better! DRAW! PICK UP A DAMN PENCIL AND DO IT. Yes, you will suck, but you’ll get better. Don't wanna? Commission! No money? Suck it up! Art is a luxury, you do not *need* it. “Oh but I have a yt channel and-“ SHUT UP! Look at yt and see how many channels use “subpar” art or stock images for things! If you get good at editing, the png of you crossing your arms and being smug about cartoons will not matter!

And I saved the best for last. Cai. Now look, I fell down that hole last year and it was fun! Until I realized that the bots are bland, repetitive, out of character, and have short term memory loss! Also Cai scalped basically every written work (Including fanfiction!) to make it’s ai. It’s just as much stealing as using mid journey is! It’s also easy to get addicted and lose yourself to it. There are so many horror stories of people who spend all their time on these apps and their life suffers because of it. Lonely? ROLEPLAY. want a story? WRITE FANFIC!!! ITS FUN! BOTH OF THESE ARTS ARE DYING BECAUSE OF CAI GETTING ITS GRUBBY HANDS ON THEM!

AND ANOTHER THING, I HATE how ai is just *creeping* into EVERYTHING I SEE NOWADYS! ITS ON SHIRTS ITS IN ADS ITS THE MUSIC ITS THE ART IT EVERYWHERE AND I HATE HATE HATE ITTTT.

AI rant ???

Obviously the age we are alive and able to live in now is amazing, we have so much access to information and connection to others, but anything concerning or connected to the humanities (social, language, etc.) is something that as a society is slowly being removed from the hands of people and being replaced by AI.

As someone who does art (in school and out) it’s annoying to always have to prove that the art you made is yours and not AI. Or the fact that my art teacher last semester used AI to give the class feedback on some of our projects, like what the freak, as a traditional artist is this not something you should be against????

My social studies teacher was more concerned about us using it than the art teacher, and my ELA teacher (who also teaches social studies) brings up how some AI sites are censoring a lot more than others, in connection to certain events in countries like China (Tiananem Square) were when you ask about the event nothing about it comes up, whatsoever.

And the amount of AI being used to post news articles, or using the generative AI on google to get references and information, just put in some work and find the information yourself it will be worth it in the end because you’ll have a deeper understanding of the topic.

What’s worse (it’s not it’s just annoying) is it being used for art and books like wtf bro, those are something used as a creative outlet if you can’t do it yourself have someone do it with you, learn to do it, or don’t do it at all.
