I don't know if I'll ever be able to get to it at the moment, so I'll just put my thoughts here for now. I really want to expand on this AU though.

I plan on reading Le Morte d'Arthur, trying to really decipher what King Arthur was like-- and incorporating that into Arthur's character from Sonic and the Black Knight.

Lancelot's character I've defined enough where I don't think I need to tweak it anymore. He will be similar to how he is portrayed in this comic. I imagine Lancelot is the version of Shadow that dealt with his grief in a healthier, albeit still rather depressing.

Instead of relying on memories that could be false, he goes about the loss of his beloved king on his experience with him. I imagine when Lancelot sees Sonic, he clings onto him like a chance to redeem the faults within his and Arthur's relationship.

This tenderness and care within a romantic relationship is something we never truly see within the canon mainline games of Sonic. The closest thing I can imagine is the relationship between Tails and Sonic, but that's purely platonic in my eyes.

So this is ultimately a case study of how I think Sonic would handle something like said relationship. There will be some differences relating to my headcanons of Sonic. I don't think Sonic in canon could ever truly be in a relationship in my opinion.

But I really wanted to go into what Arthur and Lancelot's relationship would be, since I think it's mainly up to interpretation. There isn't really anything on the romantic relationship between King Arthur and Sir Lancelot. I wanted to delve into how I think it would be its own form of forbidden love. The King who is meant to find a maiden, but only has eyes for the hedgehog he knighted as his most trusted knight.

I plan on making Arthur go through a horrific transformation from his hedgehog form, to a more humanoid-- corrupted form. It makes sense to make, since it would help explain how he went from a form similar to Sonic to something more sinister.

This was the general idea so far. I plan on changing it up a bit, but I wanted something to visualize and get an idea for when I do draw it out for a multi-part comic.

Shadow is GUN’s top spy, lethal, efficient, and devoted to protecting her creator, Professor Gerald Robotnik (currently in GUN custody). She’s used to eliminating her targets. So when she’s ordered to capture her next target alive, she’s not exactly thrilled. Especially when that target is the infuriatingly fast, obnoxiously charming Sonic the Hedgehog. What follows is chaotic Looney Tunes shenanigans, threats, and a suspicious amount of flirting.
