Still thinking about the accent choices, and I think they really do make sense! Dori, who was likely born in Erebor (not a sure thing but fairly reasonable to believe) has a Yorkshire accent and so does Thorin. It’s plausible therefore to conclude that yorkshire accent = one of Erebor’s regional ways of speaking. That’s where Thorin (and Fili and Kili, via him and their mother) get their english accents!

Similarly, I think it’s within reason that Nori’s cockney Londoner accent can be attributed to his many travels while living rough and on his own.

Ori is an interesting case. He’s been sheltered for most of his life, and he’s quite young. Even in Ered Luin, which seems to do a fair bit of trade with other races (as seen by Thorin’s blacksmithing for Men) he probably stayed fairly isolated within dwarf villages since children are prioritized and protected. Therefore, his Berkshire accent could be one of the Ered Luin dwarves’ regional accents! Northern Irish country, as spoken by Bofur, Bombur, and Bifur, would be another.
