3 years later

I don’t know if you paid the tickets, but I didn’t hear about you going to jail, so I’m guessing you did.

You’re still stuck on her, she’s still destructive, but at least you’re back together and you have someone.

You never realized your full potential (in my opinion; you’ve got more in you than being a waiter for the rest of your life).

You won’t become a doctor.

I’m still as sad as I was 3 years ago when I wrote this, but at least then I had hope. Now after 4 years of that routine, I can’t imagine you coming back. 

I’m sorry I was so shitty that night. I’m sorry I wasn’t there when you needed me. I’m sorry I couldn’t send a simple text to figure out where I was supposed to pick you up from. I’m sorry everything seemed to go to shit, and I’m sorry that that one moment seemed to be the last push you needed to fully commit to her, because you could fully trust her. 

I still think about you, but this post really brought me back.

For a second, I was back in the car. I was riding those curves that you took too fast. I could hear you playing Trevor Hall and talking about your family and your dreams and I want, just for a minute or an hour, to be back there. We had a little spark of magic that’s perhaps only found when you’re 17 and free.

I miss riding around with you in your shitty, girly mustang.

I miss the way it drags on the ground when there’s too many passengers

I miss the windows and the air and the breeze.

I miss you playing music, sharing your tastes with me while I sat there amazed.

I miss random adventures to the library, playgrounds, hospital, and Providence.

I miss seeing your back and its muscles through the t-shirts.

I miss playing the guitar with you.

I miss your random words that made no sense (but I laughed anyway).

I miss you opening up to me and telling me the truth.

I miss you teasing me.

I miss your smile and laugh.

I miss your neurotic behavior, and the antisocial, loner moods you fall into.

I miss the stupid blue aviator glasses you used to wear.

I miss your crazy driving, the way your took turns too fast and didn’t pay attention.

I miss you.

I hope you paid those tickets.

I hope you’re not stuck on her forever. She was bad.

I hope you realize how insanely intelligent you are.

I hope you become a doctor like you used to talk about.

I know you can, I just hope you do.

What does eltr stand for/mean?

It's from a song I wrote years ago, stands for "Eyes like the river," that sort of dark green, with bits of mud color. Mildly autobiographical, haha.
