30/05/25 - less than 4 days left for my 1st exam

Thought I'd document what's left of my exam season this year, only a few days left, and I'm still barely getting 50% in all my practice exams, please pray for me-

-Today's activities :

2 hours of clinical skills practice with my university's clinical leads left me feeling more hopeless than I did going in. I'm not ready for these OSCEs, I just keep making mistakes, and I'm just so slow

Completed 2 practice papers, scored 45% in one and then 50% in the other - it's not looking good bruv

it’s honestly crazy that like. in theory literary icon jean valjean would do crazy numbers on tumblr, fanfics, etc. he’s a dad. he’s canonically hot and ripped. he has a tragic backstory and self esteem issues. he’s got nuclear levels of catholic guilt. he’s even unmarried so you can old man yaoify him to your heart’s content. man was built in the blorbo factory. but the book he’s in happens to have 20 college age twinks and the musical film based on the book came out in 2012, creating the perfect storm of oncelerfication that defines the fandom at large to this very day. anyway they could never make me shut the fuck up about you jean valjean

was talking to my mom about how white people ignore the contributions of poc to academia and I found myself saying the words "I bet those idiots think Louis Pasteur was the first to discover germ theory"

which admittedly sounded pretentious as fuck but I'm just so angry that so few people know about the academic advancements during the golden age of Islam.

Islamic doctors were washing their hands and equipment when Europeans were still shoving dirty ass hands into bullet wounds. ancient Indians were describing tiny organisms worsening illness that could travel from person to person before Greece and Rome even started theorizing that some illnesses could be transmitted

also, not related to germ theory, but during the golden age of Islam, they developed an early version of surgery on the cornea. as in the fucking eye. and they were successful

and what have white people contributed exactly?

please go research the golden age of Islamic academia. so many of us wouldn't be alive today if not for their discoveries

people ask sometimes how I can be proud to be Muslim. this is just one of many reasons

September 22nd, 2024 | Rereading the Lord of the Rings (9/?)

Spent the weekend in Middle Earth! I had a Hobbit movies marathon and made banana bread, quiche, and crepes! I spent my Sunday reading and ate quite a few leftover crepes 👀

I'm more than halfway through The Return of the King now, I find it's the hardest to get into somehow? I reached the last book and I love reading from Sam's point of view. Rewatching the Hobbit movies with my boyfriend, who recently reread the book, we ended up geeking about the Appendices and chronology and I'm very excited to read them. I might be staying in Middle Earth a while longer, I'm considering rereading The Hobbit and, well, the Silmarillion? Ah.

I genuinely need to lock in or I'm afraid I'll fail at least two of my classes
