Minna: What's going on, Rolf? You've looked horrible for days now. I'm worried.

Rolf: I'm fine, Minna. It's just a headache. Not uncommon with all the work I do.

Minna: You should take a day off at least.

Rolf: And get behind on work? I can't just 'take a day off', Minna.

Minna: Adelbert can take care of everything for a day.

Rolf: That boy is not capable of that; his head is loose off his damn body.

Minna: Rolf.

[ A few days later ]

Minna: Are you not getting up today?

Rolf: I feel horrible. I think my stomach is going to fall out.

Minna: That doesn't happen. And you should have listened. Just stay in bed, alright? You feel like a fire.

Rolf: Fine. You just make sure Adelbert gets everything done.

Minna: Stop worrying. Adelbert is not as 'lost' as you say he is.

Rolf: Right. I'm just... going to take a nap.

[ Later that night ]

Minna: Rolf? Rolf, dear, wake up. Rolf? Rolf!

[ Rolf passed from Dysentary later that night ]

UDC Update

For my own sanity... I am going to be changing how I post my decades challenge save! Not a lot happens in a UDC year (four days) so I am thinking of not posting for every year... trying to screenshot literally everything they do to try and compile a post for one year is... draining to me (hence why I took such a long break)

So, instead! I will have multiple years in one post, possibly every five years... We shall see. BUTTTT in exchange, I can hopefully (no guarantees) focus on storytelling?

UDC YR. 1324

Adelbert has been learning more about horse riding, but he is absolutely terrified of it still. He's trying; leave him alone. He does have a really good relationship with Lightning though!

Zelda is way too excited to have a little sister but is so upset that she can't walk. She also doesn't exactly understand why she can't.

Adelbert got sick and he is still climbing the monkey bars that Rolf had built him... like kid, get your butt back in bed

Oh, and Minna has been using Lightning for runs to town! (i love this side saddle mod so muchhh it also lets the sims wearing dresses actually have their dress not all glitching into the horse T-T)

Zelda decided to help her mom cook, but ended up making a complete mess of things and may have broken a few things... and Ennelyn is one and a half years old today!! (her portrait is in the family tree, I forgot to take a photo of her after she aged up... it is linked at the end of the post if you want to check it out)

Also... Adelbert has taken quite an interest into painting... Minna doesn't sell her paintings, but he seems set on sharing his art with the world when he gets to paint himself. Let's just not mention to Rolf about it... Rolf is very set on setting Adelbert up into the merchant line.

UDC YR. 1323

I know I am skipping 1322... We are ignoring that

I figured out how to link my family tree! You can find it here. I will add, if there are deaths or births before I post the update, you will get spoilers !!

Surprise, surprise, Minna is pregnant again! They are planning for this to be their last child. Rolf is pretty excited about it and hopes for another boy, while Minna is convinced it's another girl.

Adelbert is now a child! (I know he is technically six... but he's getting on the damn horse as quick as he can) He... isn't the best at mounting just yet. Given how defiant Lightning is, he is surprisingly patient with Adelbert. Adelbert is not ready to actually try to walk with Lightning just yet.

When the baby was born, Minna turned, and they welcomed little Ennelyn! We aren't going to talk about the fact that Rolf immediately turned and stared at the wall. Adelbert and Zelda are pretty pleased with their new sister! Ennelyn is not very entertained by Adelbert's stories though.

Rolf is selling this time and somehow has caught the eye of the King...? Totally not stressing him and making him ecstatic to be noticed as a peasant. (Townies are from the Tale of Yore save file made by Divan the Simmer!)

ultimate apocalypse challenge | diary entry 7

kind of forgot I had to post these, not just make them- but I also haven't played this save in a while...

UDC YR. 1321

The foal has slowly been warming up to the family, but she is still quite defiant. Sometimes she refuses to eat from the bottle but is still too young to eat the prairie grass just yet.

Adelbert has been talking up a storm with his baby sister, mostly blabbers with some coherent words about food. His "food" was mostly straw pies and mud soup. Minna just hopes he's only pretending to eat said food.

Zelda is growing quickly, and healthy as a horse. With her now three and able to fully walk with Adelbert being five, they've become a terribly troublesome duo, always keeping Minna on her toes. Rolf of course is too busy with the farm and the animals to help. (the animals hate him no matter what i make him do im going insane)

Minna finally finished her painting! I officially decided it is a portrait of herself, a dream of what she could have been in another life. I think that there is a both a beauty and emotional depth in the piece to leave it unfinished like so. Like it has her soul in it, never going to achieve her fantasy world.

Content Warning; Child Death

Minna had twin baby girls. Luckily, the birth went by with little error and both are alive. We've got little Selma and Zelda Wendlen in the family. There is worry with Selma though because of the fact her head is scarily small compared to her body.

Despite just birthing twins, Minna has found time to herself to return back to the easel in the barns and started painting after long months of not being able to. This piece is still undone, but the more she does, it is beginning to look like she is making a self-portrait. (Which I thought was so cute when I saw the hair color)

Rolf hasn't gotten the bathroom when its free, so he took it upon himself to just shower out in the rain and the pond. Just be glad he went into the more secluded part of their lot to do so, but he's definitely clean for once!

Sadly, baby Selma did not make it. Her head was too small and over the night, Minna found her un-waking. She looked just like her mother, and I think that scared Rolf off because he has been avoiding the house a bit now. Luckily, Zelda is still healthy, she is too little to understand where her sister is, but she definitely knows that she isn't around.

On a foraging expedition, Rolf came across a little foal. He doesn't know why the little horse followed him home, they seem to both have a mutual hatred towards each other. (Seriously, why does every animal hate poor Rolf) Rolf was going to send the girl away and force her back to the wild, but then Minna had seen her, and Minna was not going to let Rolf do that.

Minna was able to convince Rolf to house the foal until she could fully live by herself given the poor foal seems to have an injured back leg. Minna made Rolf promise, and Rolf has a problem of not being able to say no to his wife. While he attempts to work on the foal's leg, the girl kicks him away every time, so it is a bit of a task.

At least the girl seems to like Adelbert, Rolf would have said "absolutely not" if the horse even looked like she might kick at his child. The foal seems to understand enough that Adelbert is three years old only and keeps her distance unless he approaches her.

I think I figured out why my sims often have more than one babies... I have it set so they can have up to four babies. (and in the first family, I forgot they were supposed to woohoo instead of try for baby) Rolf does less work than Minna, poor girl is going crazy. For some reason, she brought Adelbert outside while she was doing laundry, I think she's been lonely.

Adelbert survived his death roll! He's such a cutie, I love my child. Now that he's a bit older, Rolf has actually been paying attention to him... I mean. At least he's interacting with his kid now. T-T and I love that Minna is able to play with her son, it's so cute.

Episode five thousand of sims glitching into objects! Why is Jacques coming out of my sims stove/chimney, bro's Santa Claus?

Family photoooo. They look so formal and professional, it's crazy.

Adelbert PUT HIMSELF into that chair that was put their just because they own it but dont use it and he's looking at me like I put him in timeout. The family actually all went over to the market table when Minna was tending it, I had to make Rolf go back to work smh. But it was sweet of them.

UDC YR. 1318

For this crop year, we rolled bugs zone! Surprisingly, I didn't actually get bugs until two days in- but we digress. Minna had the baby! His name is Adelbert Wendlen and (at least for now-) is our next heir.

I fucking love when sims get stuck. He went in the water and decided he couldn't walk back over the plants. Anyways, here is the infant Adelbert now that we got to the next day, he's wiggly and so far, really loves sound. He really hates tummy time.

I've decided that their only income will be from selling at the lowest price and trading with Jacques (I don't think I spelt that right but oh well if I didn't) so we've got Minna selling to their next-door neighbour here.

Another instance of my sims going into the damn pond (river in terms of not able to make it expand past lot??) Apollo luckily got out just fine by themselves unlike somebody.

And we've got little Adelbert playing with one of Minna's cooking spoons because why not. He's got these animals wrapped around his fingers already and I love it. (especially because they literally hate Rolf if he tries to talk to them)

UDC update

So! My save file got corrupted! I am so... so happy can't you tell? Anyways, this means I have to start over... I got up to 1317, so for the sake of my own sanity, we are starting at 1318, right after the great famine. So, let's meet the new "cast"

I gave them the biggest lot in chestnut ridge and brother... it took too long to build everything, i don't even know if it was worth it or now gah. (i didn't take pics of the actual house cause... it's meant to look like shit. and we don't need to see that)

So, yeah! That's the beautiful lot. that took way too long. Anyways! Story wise! Minna is already pregnant! (for my own sanity, shut uppp)

Honestly, they've just been doing a lot of hard labour. Nothing too fancy, and I've named their animals after Greek Gods which is always fun! (was totally listening to Epic while building and it kept me somewhat sane)
