anyway you should always remember that all those foreigners you see dying on the news are just as real people as you are who have just as much interiority as you do. there is nothing about you that makes you more important and it is by pure chance that you are not in their position. in fact, this holds for all of history. every person, no matter the horror of the fate that befell them, had just as much interiority as you do. i feel like some people haven't fully internalized this.

okay let's talk about my favorite hunger games characters (based on the movies, books will follow! also not necessarily in order and not complete!)

1. cinna - i loved how he was on katniss' side immediately. supported her from the beginning until his very end.

2. haymitch - i can't not love a man whose life was shaped my tragedy, simply trying to make it through, adopting two kids and helping them through it all.

3. finnick - in the beginning, i thought he was only there for the looks. he grew on me so quickly. so much.

4. boggs - again, just simply a loyal person with a good heart who saw not a symbol in katniss, but simply a child who needed all the support she could get.

it's always been about showing up consistently, in smaller or bigger ways ♡

Why do I see no one talk about Boggs?!? I love him sm and he genuinely cared about Katniss. The scene were he wraps a blanket around her when shes cold (and having flashbacks?). Hes seriously underrated.

I thought about Cinna today.

he couldn’t be physically apart of the rebellion, but he was. In his own way. Through dresses and colors and birds and pins. He was with Katniss every step of the way. He was with her for every hunger games she endured.

But even he was taken from her eventually, and that makes me really sad.

i will never get over how cinna kept protecting katniss even after his death. he made sure that she got to make her own choice of officially becoming the mockingjay on her own terms even though he did want her to be the symbol of the rebellion and had already designed her uniform. i feel like he was one of the few that actually cared for what katniss thought and respected her choices, which, considering the amount of people she was around, is actually really sad.

feels like every few weeks I have to relearn how to exist, that I do need to sit in the sun and move my body and not drink too much coffee and dress in clothes that make me feel good and talk to my friends and journal and get off my phone sometimes and eat vegetables and drink more tea and generally reclaim the space in my life for myself ya know

you can pry happy endings from my cold-dead hands. It can be the most heart stopping, gut wrenching fic that has every existed and I will read every drop of it if I get my happy ending. I have had enough painful endings in real life, give me happy in my fantasy world. It can be at the last second, it can be a single sentence, even a single word. Give me all the angst and hurt in the world for 500,000 words, but please give me the comfort I need in the ending. please and thank you.

*through gritted teeth* i will be patient with and kind to myself. i will be present with myself in the everyday. i will allow myself to be comforted by the world immediately available to me. i will not abandon myself when i feel scared. i will trust myself to know how to care for myself. i will let a better life slowly seep into mine so i still recognize it as my own.

honestly, i've been feeling shitty for weeks - my hearts keeps racing and i've been having palpitations; can't walk up the stairs without a break (we live on the third floor) and have to sit down during walks.

the doctor i went to when my usual doc was on vacation told me it was from the flu at the beginning of april, but it didn't get better, only worse and now i went to my doctor today - he immediately told me to take time off work, ordered blood tests & gave me an urgent referral to a cardiologist. and i'm so glad he's done all of that, but it also really scares me because he thinks something might be seriously wrong :(
