If I keep going...Maybe someday I'll find out how to get rid of this thing. If I can get rid of it, my irritation will fade away...I might be able to be kinder to those around me...Even to my family one day…One day I'll become a kind person...

Kaiju's connection to Chi. / Orb series
This is the English translation for the song by @ kuromo_tan on Twitter (https://x.com/kuromo_tan/status/1892273053930852422). I like this version better because it is the closest EN translation to the actual JP lyric. I feel like there is a substantial context within Yamaguchi's choice of words.
Or maybe that’s just me lmao I'm definitely not an expert in Japanese.
I've always wanted to talk about the lyrics and how it connects to Orb. I waited for the anime to end to fully comprehend what's going on here. Now that it's ended, I'm gonna full on yapping about it. Spoiler for the entire series included.
The most familiar translation to Kaiju for me would be "monster" or "beast". Normally I even just leave it as Kaiju. And if one says Kaiju, the first thing I think of is Godzilla. So when I listened to this song, I imagined people turning into Godzilla. While fun, I did think it’s too over the top and not exactly what’s going on in Orb.
So I wondered if there was a reason why Yamaguchi picked "Kaiju" instead of other nouns like "Kaibutsu" or "Bakemono" or the other “monster” synonyms. Then I checked Jisho.org and find this.

I kinda see his point. In a sense or two, humans are animals.

After checking the Cambridge online dictionary, on one hand I personally prefer to translate the title as "beast" since "monster" has this more imaginary element to it. But on the other hand, leaving it as "kaiju" or using "monster" has that dramatic flair. After all, for the church in Orb, the heretics who sought heliocentrism are practically abominable beings who defy God, disrupt peace and status quo, and overthrow common sense.
But who knows, this is just my random analysis so maybe there is another more solid interpretation. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I love the eating symbolism. You know the Snickers tagline “You’re not you when you’re hungry?” because people turn crazy when hungry? It’s exactly like that. When someone hungers for something, they would turn into a monster. Including hunger for knowledge.
Specifically for stars, blue stars has the highest temperature among other stars, while the red ones has the lowest. Other celestial bodies like galaxy or planets also have different colors due to temperature, light-reflecting dust and such.
The stars that we see currently is actually from the past, due to their light years distance from us. So when our protagonists look at the stars, they are from the future gazing at the past.
I like the loneliness and solitude parts. They are pronounced the same, but the kanji and the meaning are different.
Due to that kanji and therefore context difference, I’ve always thought that they come from two different people.
I've also suspected since the beginning that these two choruses are from different people but I couldn't put a finger exactly who in Orb.
After ep 24, I finally understand that it’s Rafal and Albert. Rafal (through Hubert) realizes that there are just too many things that we don’t know about the world, and that’s why he wants to find the truth. But Albert simply wants to know the truth, because he has innate curiosity towards the world around him and wants to learn about them.
This one word is so goddamn important I’ve never been so STOKED at the word “but” like this.
It felt like a turning point and it just made me so sad yet so happy.
I love how Yamaguchi puts this single word on a separate line. Absolute poetry.
This part is incredibly beautiful. Like, the protagonists and deuteragonists ultimately believe that there is a future far away worth fighting and sacrificing themselves for. If I have to visualize it, I think it’s like seeing the light after being in the dark for so long.
On personal note, I think it's a kind of reason to continue living too.
The choir sounds like different people coming up together. It’s as if the “heretics” keep rising despite being killed one after the other. The truth won’t die as it will keep being passed from people to people across ages. In a sense these humans indeed “become a monster once again”
I love these parts too. It's subtle but they are all differently spoken. That's why I also think these are from the perspectives of three different people.
And I love the use of the blank space in the last chorus. It symbolizes the extremely distant future that none of them could even imagine, and yet that they all believe in.
35 fucking years from Rafal to Albert. Even longer when you count the years Hubert was active in the study. It might as well be light years. But still it survives.

I realized something one day while I gazed at the sky. I realized that a world exists beyond our own. We're not alone. The feeling excited me. What's more, all the stars occupy the same sky. We must be connected by something bigger. Connected by some form of truth.
