ASTR covered Drake "Hold On, We're Going Home" at The Standard Hollywood

The beginnings of ASTR sound a little bit like something out of a movie. Guy meets girl at a yoga class. They become friends, then form a band. Band makes it big. The end, right? But according to the New York duo, it wasn't quite that simple. "We didn't intend to play professionally when we first met," explains frontwoman Zoe, who met Adam at the yoga center where she was an instructor. "He told me he was a singer, and it's like, 'OK, but everyone else in the world is a singer--in the shower,'" she laughs.  After a couple of recording sessions, the pair's side gig quickly morphed into the real thing and a polished, shimmery electro-pop sound emerged. Thanks to buoyant, high-flying tracks like 'We Fall Down" and "Operate," their debut Varsity EP is basically a dance party wrapped up neatly into a shiny, six-song package. Clearly we're not the only ones who think so, either, since the band's shows also double as sweaty ragers.  "We just played Brooklyn Bowl and it was so amazing," Adam recalls. "There was a giant roaring crowd--and everyone knew the whole set! It was 1 AM and people were going crazy." One of the many reasons why everyone's so obsessed? Drake, whose single "Hold On We're Going Home" pretty much planted them headfirst onto every music blog and soon after, into thousands of headphones.  "That was such a last-minute thing, because we needed one more song in order to go on tour," Zoe said. "We sang it like because we thought it was dope, but it had such a good response we decided to record it." With over 600,000 plays, we'd say they made the right choice. Just don't expect them to turn into a full-on cover band.

NONONO’s full performance at Le Baron

The Swedish band NONONO played their first US gig for us.

We loved their Encore! Session set and especially their live rendition of pop hit Pumpin’ Blood.

Chairlift at the NoMad Hotel, has just premiered on YouTube.

Lou Doillon's full performance has premiered !

Refinery 29 has just premiered Lou Doillon's performance at Le Baron. Her first ever in the US. "Here at Refinery29, our appreciation for French actress/model/singer Lou Doillon is no secret. Though she pretty much grew up in the public eye (she's the daughter of actress Jane Birkin and director Jacques Doillon, which makes her half-sister to Charlotte Gainsbourg), Doillon's musical career is still a relatively new endeavor. Even so, considering her artistic pedigree and striking presence on screen, it isn't a surprise that Doillon slipped behind a mic so effortlessly. Her first EP, Places, was a windswept folk record that enraptured everyone who heard it.  Now, we're happy to present the video premiere of her first-ever U.S. performance. The concert took place at the Lower Manhattan haunt Le Baron last summer and Doillon's as charming in songstress mode as she is unguarded in one-on-one mode. It’s officially on for Swedish import NONONO in the United States of America. Their catchy as hell single, «Pumpin Blood,» is on fire. Encore! Live Sessions at Miami Art Basel during Absolut Block Party, Season 2, Jacuzzi Boys

Here is the new video of the Encore! Sessions, shot during the Absolut Block party the most exclusive night of Miami Art Basel 2013. The Jaccuzzi Boys rocked the show in their hometown. If you haven't heard of them yet, here is what Iggy Pop says about the band : "There's a band here in Miami called the Jacuzzi Boys. It's a stupid name, but they've got a good spirit."
