If you, like me, missed it, Ranboo hosted a Discord Stage today where (among other general content announcements) he announced that Z is no longer part of an ARG!

He is streaming on the DSMP tonight!

This blog functions as an Archive, focusing on Ranboo lore, and specifically the Enderwalk ARG.

If there is anything I can do to make this blog more screen reader friendly, please contact me.

Ranboo has said that you won’t need to follow the ARG in order to understand his character lore. It’s just for fun, and it’s not going to be required for the overall lore of the Dream SMP. Thus far, it has been context building for his character and not directly about him.

If participating in an ARG triggers feelings of unreality for you, please use your best judgement in whether or not to follow this blog. 

There may be streams that are entirely for the ARG, there may be hints to the ARG in streams, and there may already have BEEN hints for the ARG!

ARGS are meant to be played collaboratively! You’re always free to tag me in anything (just specify if you want it reblogged or not), the inbox is always open (with anon on; I’ll publish it unless you tell me not to), and DMs are also always open!

This blog could not run without the work of the team at @/RanbooUpdates on Twitter. They do the same thing I do with reference to archiving, but they do it faster and for the Twitter-sphere.

So, on today’s Origins stream by Ranboo (9/28/21), this happens. 

Ranboo was hoping to find libraries so that he could get water protection books, y’know because he’s an enderian and it’ll help him in water. 

This is all good- except for that second chest. In it there’s some water protection books, sure, but then…there’s a book and quill. It’s labeled ‘Do Not Read’. Sound familliar? It’s the same name as his memory book(s) on the Dream SMP. 

I wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt, maybe he had a resource pack that turned all books and quills into ‘Do Not Read’ for idk lore reasons I guess. But… well there’s two things wrong with that. 

The first thing wrong? 

Book and quills aren’t apart of the loot tables in libraries on Java Edition. There is absolutely no way possible that one can spawn in the chests. It had to manually be placed there. 

And, we DO know that there was someone at the portal. Yesterday during his stream, it was mentioned that the guy running the server (for the modpack and to watch lag and other stuff), went out to the stronghold to, well, make sure it was there. This is because on the last origins server, the stronghold had been glitched and the ender eyes didn’t lead to the portal. 

This means someone had gone to the portal to make sure it existed- and well, it would be very simple to ask if a named book could be placed in the chests. 

The second thing wrong, and I’ll admit I’m not the most knowledgable about this, but it’s the NBT tags. As far as I know, written books have 3 possible NBT data tags. The title, the author, and the pages themselves. 

A completely blank book and quill would have no NBT data tags until it is written in or titled/named. 

Since it’s not a published written book, it can only at max have 2 NBT data tags. 

If it were just an empty book, it’d have none. But clearly…it states it has two. That means not only is it named ‘Do Not Read’, but it also means it is written in. 

I equally love and hate the implications of this. Ranboo my beloathed why do you do this.

HEY if you have a ranboo sub (gifted, prime, all paid tiers) you have access to a special channel in the ranboo discord! all u have to do is link ur twitch to discord.

there's the sub/boosty chats and voice channels which have a really cool comunity feel to them as a lot of us are in there daily, recognize eachother and have inside jokes!

there's also ranmail, which is the channel where ranboo just kinda hangs out to talk about his day and give us updates on things. vv useful if you dont have twitter for updates.

also, we get the occasional discord stage! these are basically just sub-only bonus streams where we all just hang. it's like a twitter space almost, but with a chat! (these are reeeally cool. if youre not subbed here's a channel that archives them as well as beeduo twitter spaces!)
