A customer contacted our team with questions, and then finished their email with: "I am daunted by the complexities and unknowns." I haven't been able to stop thinking about it since.

you can tell that the protocols of the elders of zion is a fake story because it’s a book where a bunch of old jews gather in a room and agree on something

I haven’t had/attended a proper pesach Seder since 2019.
Obvi nothing was happening non virtually in 2020, and there still wasn’t a ton going on in 2021. By that point the small group we had formed within our synagogue had mostly moved on (either from graduating or the Big Controversy of 2020).
I’m not really sure why we didn’t do anything major in 2022. I know I was back in school and SUPER sick from pregnancy, and maybe it just seemed like too much?
I know last year we had a Little Tiny Baby (who we still have, she’s just less tiny, which honesty makes it even more challenging), and hosting a Seder, especially for a group of mostly non-Jews, felt like too much. I was kind of hoping we would do something this year (after all, our Tu b’shevat Seder was a BIG HIT!), but I just don’t know if I will have the energy. Especially since I just feel like I’m not doing the holiday properly this year because I am pregnant again and there’s no WAY I can stop eating bread (the baby has spoken).
So I dunno. I’ve felt pretty disconnected from Judaism since 2020 and since leaving rabbi school. I think we will probably become more connected once babies are older and we can go to the kid services and they can go to the preschool, but it’s definitely strange. Maybe that’s why I’m here, is for some semblance of community. And because my relationship to my religious practice has always been multifaceted and anti-monolithic.
Maybe I’ll suddenly get the energy boost to put together a mini Seder or something. It feels wrong not to mark the time somehow, but I am just…so tired.

Amulet (“kame’a”) against difficult childbirth. Beshenkovichi, Vitebsk Province, Belarus. Late 19th century.
The text is repeated twice, in the left and right part of the amulet: “Adam and Eve. To expel Lilith, Senoi, Sansenoi, Sammangelof.” The image and text are reproduced after “Raziel,” a mystic 11th century book that served as a kind of instruction for making amulets.

Lady Asherah (A.K.A. " God's wife") was placed in Solomon's Temple at Jerusalem by King Solomon's son King Rehoboam in c. 928 BCE. Solomon's Temple stood for 342 years and was destroyed in c. 586 BCE by the army of King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon. Asherah was worshiped in it, side by side with YHVH for no less than 236 years or for more than two thirds of its existence. It was only after the destruction of Solomon's Temple, during the Babylonian captivity that Judaism became an exclusively monotheistic religion. Before that, God had a wife...

Well, the spell did not work. But that might actually be a good thing? And something else better might work out? So I’m not taking this as a bad sign quite yet
I did my FIRST EVER SPELL* the other day, and I am excited to see how it turned out!
*well, first since I was like 14. It feels different doing it alone and as an adult, and also gives me a bunch of big feelings about my childhood best friend

They’re back! Argh!
No matter WHAT I DO it seems that I will never have a green thumb! I have been trying so hard with our house plants, and now a few of the succulents have what I suspect are mealy bugs???! Arg!
