Another thing that has happened: a week ago they opened the diocesan phase of your beatification cause. The speed has frankly been dizzying. Only Wojtyła himself got the full five-year dispensation. I am unsure what to make of it.
Do not take it as a question of worthiness. You were always the better man, even back inside the Sistine Chapel with our brothers. And yet when the good Monsignor David asked for personal effects of yours I may have for the Acta, I found myself unable to do it. Found that I did not want to. The Lord has already taken you away, and scraps are all that remain. What right do they have to take that, too?
That was selfish, I’m sorry. Perhaps it is for the best that I leave. I am still learning to exist in a world without you.
Yours, Thomas Proverbs 14:10

Ohhh look at me I’m Jacopo Baldassare Lomeli. I’m the Dean of the College of Cardinals. I got kissed by Aldo Cardinal Bellini and Sister Agnes. The new Holy Father looks at me with lovesick eyes and just hinted the start of a codependent relationship with me. Fuck you.
#Jacopo Lomeli sleep with one eye open I’m coming for you#Getting kissed by Bellini on both cheeks I can accept#but getting kissed on the knuckles BY SISTER AGNES???#BENITEZ LOOKING AT YOU WITH LOVESICK EYES??#kind of greed they talk about in the Bible#conclave#vincent benitez#conclave (2024)#thomas lawrence#jacopo lomeli#lawrenitez#conclave film#conclave book

I made these as a way to compile all the geographical vocabulary that I thought was useful and interesting for writers. Some descriptors share categories, and some are simplified, but for the most part everything is in its proper place. Not all the words are as useable as others, and some might take tricky wording to pull off, but I hope these prove useful to all you writers out there!

Well tell us what the dynamic is don't leave us hanging
I think post conclave Lawrence eventually retires and asks O'Malley (who I think would follow Lawrence anywhere lol) to stay and help out the pope. So he becomes Benítez's personal secretary. They are oomfs they are besties it's the gentle pope who's spirit is stronger than anyone you know and dangerously loyal dog that is his secretary
#conclave#wolfythewitch#ray starting out as incredibly wary of benitez but still accepting the secretary position bec he made a promise to lawrence#like what if benitez was just doing it to keep Ray close because he’s the only one who knows Innocent’s secret#but Vincent does genuinely deeply respect him because Lawrence speaks so highly of him mmhmm

Can we just... Talk about this moment right here?
Because - God. Imagine being Edwin in Episode Six.
Imagine being kissed for the first time and realizing that there are these feelings you have for your best friend that you need to confront, that you've felt this for him for a long while. Imagine the burst of panic, the terror this engenders - because while it was out of the question before, the act of being kissed (and - to your horror - finding yourself wishing it was with him instead) makes you consider for the first time that maybe, just maybe, admitting this to him won't be such a disaster. Maybe you can be honest with him now; nothing would have to change, and the delicate status quo you've built together for the past few decades doesn't have to crumble to dust. Charles is your best mate - you can’t keep lying to him if nothing else. He deserves to know.
And it's nerve-wracking, and it's petrifying, and you're a ghost but it makes you feel so sick (no, not sick - ghosts aren't supposed to feel sick.) It makes you feel like you want to vibrate out of this plane of existence. You dress nicely to summon the courage needed, to brace yourself for the heart-flaying (you see him look at you, see him take in your new outfit. If he hadn't noticed it would have been so much easier... but he does. His smile is soft and fond, and the hope that blossoms from your chest is terrifying and pathetic).
Then you think: "Buck up. Do it now." But there's a case that needs to be solved, and now everything's going wrong and everything is awful and suddenly you're clinging to the flimsy roots of an ancient, gnarled tree trying not to be subsumed by a giant mushroom. And you think, after more than a hundred years of pain and suffering, parting with the burden of existence would be a little easier, except you're back where you once started: a frightened schoolboy held down by cruel hands, and you're afraidafraidafraidafraidafraid...
You feel a hand, firm and steady, enclose upon yours.
Your head snaps up, eyes wide, and you see him staring right back at you. He does not say anything - the gag won't allow him to - but you know Charles, could read him in death, in this world and the next. He is scared but resolute, panicked but defiant. His grip on your hand is vise-like, and you choke back an incredulous sob. Because if this shall be the end, the final end, then at least you'll be going down together. There are no cruel hands this time, harsh enough to bruise: just his, fierce and unwavering. You don't have to face oblivion alone anymore.
And... Oh, god. You're in love with him. You love him more than life, more than death - this you're certain. And for that moment you make yourself believe that maybe...just maybe...
He may be a tiny bit in love with you, too.

You teach your son your craft. You are a carpenter, and poor. It's hard work, but an honest one: a skill you've honed for years and years. It's the most important thing you have that you can bequeath him - a livelihood which he can use to carve out his own. You teach your son how to swing a hammer, so if he becomes a carpenter in the future, he will know how to use it, and not hurt himself in the process.
I'm glad Joseph died before the Crucifixion.

Apologies! Here's the plain text:
A Compilation of Jesus Foreshadowings in Good Omens 1 and 2: 1. The Crucifixion (Hard Times, S1E3)
While he had been a throw-away character in s1, we now know through s2 that characters who may not seem that important in the 30-minute cold open of S1E3 can totally be expounded on.
Establishing Jesus' character so early on won't make his theorized appearance in season 3 too abrupt. We also now know how the main protagonists perceive him: a bright young man they can sympathize with.
2. The Lazarii Metric (The Clue, S2E2; I Know Where I'm Going, S2E3)
Season two introduces Lazarii, the unit used to measure miracles.
It's a reference to Lazarus of Bethany, the man Jesus raised from the dead six days before his Crucifixion.
"When he had said this, Jesus called in a loud voice, 'Lazarus, come out!' The dead man came out, his hands and feet wrapped with strips of linen, and a cloth around his face." - John 11: 43-44 NIV
As we'll soon see, the raising of the dead will be a recurring theme in the Second Coming Narrative.
3. The Resurrectionist (The Clue, S2E2; I Know Where I'm Going, S2E3)
A double entendre. The Resurrectionist refers both to the body snatcher Dr. Dalrymple, and to Jesus, who raised his friend (then himself) from the dead.
Once again, the pub sign references Jesus' raising of Lazarus from the dead. It's important to note that while Dr. Dalrymple appears in this minisode, Jesus does not. And yet this is the sign, anyway.
4. The Second Coming (I Know Where I'm Going, S2E3; Everyday, S2E6)
The Second Coming is the Christian Belief that Jesus Christ will return to Earth to 'judge the living and the dead' after his ascension to heaven.
According to the Book of Revelation, The Second Coming will first be precipitated by Armageddon. After widespread death and destruction, the dead will then "walk the earth once more" so they may be judged by Christ. Good Omens s1 only touched on the first part of Armageddon; supposedly, when the world had ended and the great beast (Adam) was defeated, Christ will come down to enact the last judgment.
"The sea gave up the dead that were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead that were in them, and each person was judged according to what they had done." Revelation 20:13 NIV
5. The Book of Life (Arrival, S2E1; Everyday, S2E6)
The Book of Life has been mentioned plenty of times in the Book of Revelation. It is the scroll (or book) that the Christ will use in the Final Judgment.
"Another book was opened, which is the book of life.... Anyone whose name was not found written in the book of life was thrown into the lake of fire." Revelation 20: 12,15 NIV
6. Thy Kingdom Airways (Good Omens S2 Opening Credits)
In the past, both authors have divulge that 668: Neighbor of the Beast (the unwritten Good Omens Sequel) featured Jesus coming down to Earth on a Silver Airplane. This appeared in the opening credits of s2.
"Thy Kingdom" is a phrase that can be found in the Lord's Prayer, which was allegedly taught by Jesus himself (Thy Kingdom Come, Thy Will Be Done.) "Thy Kingdom Come" is also yet another reference to the Second Coming.
Here's a compilation of every Jesus foreshadowing I could find so far in Good Omens s1 and s2. This also includes my notes on what these hints may be referencing to (based on the Book of Revelation as the source material we will be parodying for s3, plot hints about 668: Neighbor of the Beast that were dropped over the years, and finally the themes and motifs that had been established in s1 and s2.)
When put together, it's actually incredible how much his character had already been foreshadowed in the past two seasons.
