World Challenge TV 2015 Review
Three months of planning led down to one of the most stressful (yet somehow relaxed and interesting) jobs EpicTech has ever done; the Annual Bodyflight World Challenge skydiving competition.
THURSDAY - 2.4.15 - The Day of the Pre-stream
With the only live-stream on Thursday being between 5pm and 7pm, the Thursday crew had loads of time from 8am to test everything, from 50m SDI cables to Polecams, to roaming camera signal throughout the Bodyflight Bedford venue to emergency procedures in case there was either really good news on another floor and we need to cover it quick to the really bad scenario of a fire hazards, and informing all the crew of the closest CO2 fire extinguisher in case there was an electrical fire (Luckily there wasn't)!
After much testing and planning, 5 o'clock quickly rolled around, and the warm up (test) live-stream began; and it worked!, for about 20 minutes, and then we developed some audio issue. Eventually, it became so unbearable that we had to stop the stream. After this, the brainstorming began, with many theories being thrown in to the mix, considered, and then discarded as everyone considered the cause of the annoyance. I am not going to bore everyone with the technical details, but we decided on a plan, and then set about carrying it out. Fortunately, it didn't take long, and by the time we all went home for a (short) night’s sleep it was working.
FRIDAY - 3.4.15
Obviously, the first and most important thing that happened on Friday was the amazingly delicious buffet breakfast provided at Bodyflight, with lots of bacon. (Plus the fact that none of the kit had exploded overnight, and that it was all still working fantastically from our quick rejig the night before). After a quick, and rather tasty breakfast, it was all hands on deck to get ready with the stream. As it was the first day, people yet had to get into a routine of constant live-streaming, and what to do when they were needed. But after the initial them introduction by presenters and the opening ceremony, everyone quickly settled in to the routine needed for the Bodyflight World Challenge. Amazingly, everything worked perfectly, but with the next big hurdle being lunchtime, as everyone on the crew needed to have lunch at separate times. Nothing major (good or bad) else happened on Friday, but during the de-brief for the day, the presenters were amazed with our experience and behavior, even though the oldest person on the 9-man EpicTech crew was 19 years old.
SATURDAY - 4.4.15
The Saturday was similar, with no major hick-ups, so there isn’t really much to talk about. The most difficult part of the day was the quick change over from moving all the cameras from the award ceremony in the flow-house to the roof, for the fireworks display.
IMPROVEMENTS FROM WCTV 2014
One of the major improvements between the WCTV 2015 live-stream, and the one the previous year was the behind the scenes preproduction and producing. Unlike last year when we had on person making all the decisions, this year was much simpler, with three producers scheduling interviews and studio use, more crew from EpicTech and an Executive Director making all of the quick moment decisions. It ran like a well-oiled machine. I cannot even begin to explain to you how well that it worked, or how relaxed everyone was due to the fact that it worked; just believe that it was truly amazing.
Hopefully this has been a good insight into how World Challenge TV worked behind the scenes. Everyone had an amazing time, not just the EpicTech crew, and we are already planning on how to make the 2016 live-stream the best one yet.
Attached is a photo of all of the WCTV crew, plus a couple of skydivers we found lying around.

This is another video we made with Zoedale, but this time we focused on a specific part of their business. Zoedale have a full team of engineers and servicemen that are fully capable of servicing and repairing valves and actuators, and we feel that this shows of their skill in a professional way.

      One year today!!
On the 11th of January 2014, EpicTech was born. It was born of the idea that making and sharing great content shouldn't be hard, expensive or awkward for anyone.
So, today is our birthday, and to celebrate that, we have a special showcase to show some of the work we are most proud about from the previous year.
It includes work from our promotional video for BMW, Zoedale and Bodyflight to name a few with clips from a music video which is in post-production.
Everyone here at EpicTech is so amazed at what we have achieved in just one year, and we are all very excited to see what the following year will bring.
So, goodbye for now and we hope to see you soon, whatever it should be for.
Many thanks for last year,
The EpicTech Team

Zoedale - 28.10.14
During late October, EpicTech worked with Zoedale PLC to create a slick corporate video to aid with customer services.
You may not have heard of them, but Zoedale provide actuators and valves for all branches of industry; with some of their products being used on structures such as oil rigs.
It was great fun to work with them on this project, and we hope to be doing more work with them in the near future.
Above is the behind the scenes video along with some photos taken whilst on location.

BMW Specialist Cars 0 14.11.14
EpicTech teamed up with Polecam, The Raw Image and Specialist Cards to bring you the awesome video above. In order to demonstrate BMW's new xDrive system and their brand new snow tyres, we headed down to Hemel Heampsted Snow Centre just outside London to demonstrate the advanced capabilities these products provide.
"We had a great time shooting, although my toes were a little cold!" said Ally Adams, Director of the shoot.
We hope you enjoy the video. Please find some pictures of the shoot above. Stills courtesy of Marek Jamroz (www.mjphotoart.com)
