01.  we were set up on a blind date but it went horribly, so now you message me every time you have a good date because you think your tips will help me in the future, you ass 02.  I bought a house three months ago but I’m finally moving in and discover you’ve been squatting because you’re homeless 03.  you’re drunk in the department store I manage and you keep yelling at other customers so please come into my office while I call the cops 04.  I organize a petition to get you, the ceo, to live off of my wage for three months and since it’s getting media attention, your PR manager suggests you accept the challenge and you keep coming into my department to ask me how to do things 05.  I’m a pro-athlete at a press conference and I make a comment to my buddy about you because I forgot my mic was on 06.  in a moment of stupidity, I keyed what I thought was my ex’s car only to be surprised when you come screaming towards me 07.  I’m assigned to write a piece rounding up all the bad press that you, a famous celebrity, have been getting and you show up in my office and demand me to write a retraction and get the ‘real’ story 08.  I wrote my crush a note except I started it with ‘dear you’ and my friend stuck it into the wrong locker and now you think I have a crush on you 09. we’re strangers who meet at a bar, get drunk, and wake up to announcements of our new engagement all over our social media - what did we do??? 10.  you’ve been breaking into my car to sleep at night and I’ve let it slide because it’s been cold out but I have a date and I need you to find somewhere else (fine, go in my house/garage, I don’t care, you’re not messing this date up for me) 11.  my old dealer is moving to be with his boyfriend, so he hooks me up with you and you refuse to sell to me because I cut in front of you in line one time YEARS ago and I’m not even sure that it was me. this is ridiculous 12.  I’m working at the cash and when I ask you how your day is going, you tell me that it’s the anniversary of [something horrible] and I don’t know what to do with that information so I accidentally blurt “well hope it’s a good one!” when saying goodbye  13.  we make contact before trying to steal the last seat on the subway/bus/train and I end up in your lap and fuck you, I’m going to stay here because I’ve had a really long day and this seat was mine 14.  you caught me doing something a few weeks ago but didn’t report me and now you’re trying to blackmail me into secretly tutoring you even though you and your friends have always been assholes, no I don’t ‘owe’ you 15.  I step out of the bathroom and right into the middle of a bar fight and you punch me accidentally so I punch back on instinct

WHAT WE CAN BE : in which eren deals with his crush on you like an elementary school kid and you’re having none of it.

eren likes you. a lot. but he treats your existence like it's god's punishment to humanity. and you, not having any idea why he loathes your presence so much, decided to not give a single fuck about him.

“Eren, here!” You wave a hand as you saw the familiar brunette who you’ve been worried about all week.

Eren hears your voice, and he almost turns around to walk away and escape. Then he remembers Jean’s subtle threats and Mikasa’s not so subtle ones. And when he looks up from his hunched position, he sees your face and that’s when he throws all cowardice and anxiety off a bridge. How can he look away from that face? You look so pouty, you look so pretty, and if that was not enough, you look so worried. Worried for what? For him.

He gulps, throat feeling like a virgin with how tight it is. With heavy steps, he approaches you.

“H-hey.”

“Hi!” You greet, eyebrows loosening only a little. “How have you been?”

Eren looks away from your expression. “Good.”

“Yeah?”

“Yeah.”

The air feels so cold despite the sun being so scorching today. Eren feels like he’s back on square one but worse. It had never been this awkward and suffocating between the two of you before, but today is on an exceptionally different level.

“Say–”

“Um–”

“Sorry, you first–”

“No, you–”

Silence.

You start again. “The sun looks nice.”

God, you’re so fucking weird and he hates it. What he hates, even more, is the snort that he lets out and the goofy grin that forms on his lips when he sees you literally squinting at the sun. Who gave you the right to be that stupidly adorable again?

You turn your head back at him, vision full of spots but your eyes still hold a triumphant glint on them when you got that reaction out of Eren.

He doesn’t like how your eyes stare so hopefully at him though (he does, very much so, he just wishes it’s because of a different circumstance), so he averts his green orbs and stares at a lamppost instead. You frown at this, thinking you did something wrong again.

“Listen, Eren, um, you haven’t been talking to me lately. Did I do something wrong? I want to at least know before I apologize–”

“I like you, okay! There, I said it!” Eren suddenly exclaims, hunching his shoulders in insecurity. He mumbles. “There… I said it.”

“Oh.” Yeah, oh.

Your ears heat up, and your eyes widen ever so slightly. However, you remain composed, chest feeling warm. Although, Eren’s is boiling and for the first time, it’s not because he’s lying. It’s so true he feels his ribcage cracking with the way his heart is hammering against it.

“I like you, too, Eren but,” He whips his head up, cutting you off immediately. The world is too cruel for Eren Jaeger.

“It’s alright, I understand. I mean– what did I expect? Look, I just hope this doesn’t make things awkward between us because my feelings aside, you’re a good friend to me. To all of us, actually–”

“Eren.”

“Although I might feel awkward around you after this at first, but I swear, it’s okay! Just don’t mind me, I’ll get over it eventually, maybe, I don’t know honestly–”

“Eren.” You say a little louder, staring at him in mild amusement and he finally pauses. “You never listen a lot, do you? You talk a lot, too.”

Eren only gapes at you before pursing his lips. “And you don’t talk enough.” He huffs with a pout, embarrassed and frustrated at your nonchalance.

You laugh, and by god, it’s the most melodious song he’s ever heard.

“That’s just how we are, and I think that makes us fit.” You remark playfully to which he grumbles childishly. “Eren, I don’t want to reject you at all because I like you, too. I want to see where we can go. It’s just… this is new to me so,” with a charming and sincere smile, you offer him your pinky and ask, “can we work on it?”

It takes him a minute to process what you said. But when he finally did, his expression lit up and his heart starts beating again. Eren’s eyes glimmer as they look back up at you. For someone who’s incredibly tall, he looks so small in front of you right now. Uncertain if you are for real, if you are real, he hesitantly intertwines his pinky finger with yours.

“Okay,” he says breathlessly, gazing at you like you’re the most ethereal person he’s ever seen, “we’ll work on it.”

The sun is way too hot and there are so many people around at the damn parking lot. Out of all places, he confessed at the damn parking lot. It’s not the perfect day and weather for this moment, really, but it’s your moment that makes it perfect anyway. There were no hugs. There was no kiss. Just a pact between the two of you, a promise that’s only yours and Eren’s and no one else’s.

“So,” you hum, slowly releasing his pinky and smiling at him cheekily. “you like me?

“Yeah.” Eren smiles with so much genuine happiness, he thinks he might tear up. “I like you.”

“Fuck!” Eren’s forehead collides with his door.

“Oh, shit.” Armin cussed.

“Eren, are you okay?!” Mikasa gasps, rushing to his side once she realized why the door didn’t open as wide as it should have when she used all her strength to force it open. “I’m so sorry.”

“Cough…! He kinda deserved it …cough!”

Eren glared at Armin as he holds a hand over his bruised forehead. “You do realize you’re literally saying ‘cough’ as you pretend to cough, right?”

“I don’t know what you’re talking about.” The blonde whistled away.

“Are you alright?” Mikasa asks, voice full of concern.

“Is his hairline okay?” Armin can’t help but joke.

“My hairline is fine!” Eren replies indignantly.

“But seriously, I’m surprised you finally faced us.”

“…I was worried about the door.” The brunette admits.

Mikasa blinks, staring at the cracked hinges. “Um… I’ll pay for it.”

“What do you guys want?” The brunette grimaces.

WHAT DO WE WANT???? Armin wants to scream, but he instead took a deep breath and faced his best friend softly.

“It’s not just [Name] that’s worried about you, you know? The others, too.” The blonde starts. “And you’re approaching the situation very immaturely. So what if, if, she doesn’t have feelings for you? You can’t ignore her forever, Eren.”

Mikasa places a hand on his shoulder. “[Name] deserves to know what, or if, she did something wrong, at least. You can't just forget everything all of a sudden.”

Eren lowers his head in shame, too distracted to notice his childhood friends’ use of if’s.

If there was one thing you’re proud of, it’s the fact that you don’t think before doing something yet it still somehow manages to get you in favor. Not this time though.

“Liar.” Reiner states and flicks your forehead.

You blink. Eh?

“Huh? What? No, don’t you understand–?”

“About Eren,” he clarifies, smiling down fondly at you.. “I think you’re lying. You said there’s no way you’d like him.”

“Okay, maybe I was exaggerating to prove a point.” You puff your cheeks. “Eren is complicated sometimes, but he’s really nice. I enjoy his company, too. He gets so riled up quickly, it’s fun to mess with him. Plus, he let me put his hair in pigtails once so that was kind of cute.”

The blonde stares at you, then he snorts at your little speech. You feel a little embarrassed.

“Sorry, was I rambling?” You scratched your head sheepishly.

“No, no, it’s fine.” Reiner tries not to grin. “It’s been awhile since I heard you talk a lot, I was starting to think your saliva’s starting to expire.”

“You’re gross.”

“I’m just saying.” He rolls his eyes. “Don’t say you don’t like him if you do. Who knows how he’ll feel if he hears you say that?”

“Hm, I guess you’re right, I do like him. Not the way I like you though.” You hum, facing the male. “And you wonder why I see you as a brother?”

“Clearly.” Reiner glares at you and starts messing with your hair. “Rub it in, why don’t you?”

“I’m sorry, ‘m sorry!” You giggle, swatting his hands away.

Reiner retracts his hands and bids you goodbye, saying something about he’s actually on an errand for his mother and he needs to go back soon.

Clearing up and not ruining your friendship with an old friend, you’re glad you clarified things up. Along with your other friends from Marley, you all have different lives now and you don’t have to force yourself to fit in with them the way they wanted you to. You’re happy that Reiner understands.

You let out a sigh as you stand in the middle of the mall.

If I knew I had no choice but to go out anyway, I would’ve just gone with Eren.

Fighting the urge to pout, an idea sparks up in your head.

You didn't get a reply.
