Phlint for the ask game!

What made you ship it?

Other shippers, honestly. I was baffled the first time I came across a phlint fic, I didn't really know who Hawkeye was yet, but I knew I liked Coulson. The dynamic appealed to me, i guess, and i fell down the rabbit hole, lol.

What are your favorite things about the ship?

This is a hard one. I mentioned the dynamic between them, so that's part of it. I like that there are different canon versions of Clint, and fic writers use whichever one they like. I like a lot of the tropes that came out of the ship (and then seeing some of those tropes subverted).

Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship?

No idea. I know that there are people who don't ship it who actively dislike it, so maybe my unpopular opinion is that it's a good ship? But I prefer to enjoy what I enjoy, and i tend to stay away from people who want to rain on my parade because they have a different opinion.

Pod-together is a fandom fest where writers and podficcers create together—the writer creating text specifically intended for audio, and the podficcer creating the audio. Writing is due July 27th, and podfic is due August 24th. The minimum length for pod-together projects is 1000 words or 10 minutes of audio.

This is our 15th year running this challenge, and participants usually have a ton of fun and create amazing stuff, with everything from the typical style of fannish stories to submissions with filk, poetry, found footage/audio drama, sound effects, massive multi-voice collaborations, immersive soundscapes, playable games, and multiple languages.

Hey, it's Pride Month! As a librarian, we are doing Pride Month programs! And we are seeing so much backlash online for it. Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Tiktok...the hate comments are there. I'm not posting them because a) no one needs to see that and b) I don't want to dox myself, but they're there.

If you're a member of your local library, find their social media and say something nice about these programs and posts, please? Especially if you're in one of the less liberal leaning areas. It would mean a lot to us. And attend them too! Say something nice about a Pride display (or any themed display) if you're in the building!

We'd really appreciate it. It's really hard out here.

Peter Morwood

I am so sorry to have to tell you all about this. None of you, I suspect, will ever have any idea how sorry.

I am in utter shock and terrible pain to have to inform everyone that our friend, my dear husband and creative partner of nearly forty years, Peter Morwood, passed away suddenly early this morning after a brief illness that as late as yesterday (when his doctor saw him) had seemed to be on the mend.

I'm not in any position to say much more about this situation now, as you'll understand my current mental state is not up to the task. (I keep expecting to wake up from a bad dream, but it shows no sign of breaking.) I will let people know more about this in coming days.

There will be a postmortem shortly to determine the exact cause of his death. I'll share what details of this are appropriate as they become clear.

Meanwhile in the short term I'm very much going to need assistance with the expenses that in the days that follow will inevitably surround what's happened. For those people who want to assist, please feel free to use the Ko-Fi account here, and simply tag the associated messages, etc, "P expenses".

My love will wait for me, I know, however long it takes. He's never minded waiting. (the saddest smile) My job now is to make sure he's not forgotten while I go on.

Meanwhile, can I just say to all of of you: I thank you all ahead of time for all the support and fondness for Peter that I know so many of you will express. He'd blush over it, I know. (He always did.) Please forgive me for being unable to do much in the way of answering messages, just now, in the wake of having to get to grips with this sudden and awful change in my world.

But also let me say, so urgently: Hug your loved ones now, while you can. Eventually a day will come when, expected or not, your opportunities end.

Fluffcember in July 2025

Alright, the poll was faily clear: A lot of people want to do a summer Fluffcember. Which obviously is also fun! Remember, this idea came about due to people from the Southern Hemisphere noting, that all "december" challenges tend to focus on winter-related topics, while in the Southern Hemisphere it was summer.

So, to be fair, now another somewhat wintery challenge in July, when the Southern Hemisphere people have their own winter.

From December onwards, I will make sure the challenges will be two-sided. Summer-side and Winter-side!

Bonus challenge: Put your characters in the Southern Hemisphere for once. (Okay, this one is probably easier for the Dragon Age fandom xD)
