Eric Nyquist is an American artist, illustrator, and educator working in Los Angeles. He began his career after graduating from Art Center College of Design, and his body of work includes drawings, paintings, and collages that merge the natural and the industrial. Together, the pieces become a timeline that represents Nyquist’s observations of the past, present and the future. In an age of rapid image-making, Nyquist blends classical and modern methods to create contemporary results. From etching to serigraph, manual printing processes inform his drawings and digital processes—as he arranges layers and screens of color and texture into each piece.A California native, Nyquist’s work is heavily informed by various regions across the state. Bright colors of the surf and skate industry evoke Los Angeles. A cross-section of natural and agricultural forms evoke his childhood home in the San Joaquin Valley. The galactic and trailblazing forms arise from the aerospace industry in Southern California. Throughout his work, he examines the natural world that is threatened, surviving, or extinct all over the state.

I'm excited to reveal my latest cover art for Automatic Noodle by: Annalee Newitz, published by Tor.com. Thanks again to Christine Foltzer for the art direction and type design. I included the original sketch! From the publisher, Tor.com We are delighted to reveal the cover of Automatic Noodle by Annalee Newitz, a cozy near-future novella about a crew of abandoned food service bots opening their very own restaurant!🍜🤖⁣ ⁣ While San Francisco rebuilds from the chaos of war, a group of food service bots in an abandoned ghost kitchen take over their own delivery app account. They rebrand as a neighborhood lunch spot and start producing some of the tastiest hand-pulled noodles in the city. But there’s just one problem. Someone—or something—is review bombing the restaurant’s feedback page with fake “bad service” reports. Can the bots find the culprit before their ratings plummet and destroy everything they created?⁣ ⁣ Coming 8.5.25!⁣

NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory + Los Angeles Dodgers It was an honor to create artwork for a run of limited edition hats for JPL night at Dodgers Stadium. I love baseball and JPL, but it was extra special to bring my 5 year old son to his first baseball game, where my art was projected all around the stadium. Huge thank you to Kareem Collie, David Levine, Lauren Shapiro, Lisa Haber, and everyone at JPL.
