ok im really curious do you guys have books you consider your "white whale"? as in books you keep telling yourself oh yeah i really want to read that, but you keep not reading it?
Karen likes to go slow. She likes to take her time. Especially with Gretchen, who is the prettiest girl she's ever seen, and whom Karen really wants to make happy.
So she starts by gently taking Gretchen's face in her hands, palms against Gretchen's cheeks and fingertips brushing her soft hairline. Gretchen's eyes grow wider as Karen gets closer, and she lets out a surprised gasp as Karen presses their lips together, even though she definitely saw Karen coming.
Gretchen's lips, as they always are, are soft and warm and a bit sticky with lip gloss. Today, it tastes like strawberries. Karen's favorite.
Karen tilts her head a bit as she feels Gretchen's hands settle on her waist, pinkies brushing the exposed skin between the hem of Karen's shirt and the waistband of her skirt. Their lips slide together, Gretchen's bottom lip between Karen's own, and Karen wonders if Gretchen feels like she has a million little butterflies in her stomach, too.
Karen's hands slide into Gretchen's hair, silky between her fingers, as she gently runs her tongue along Gretchen's lips, taking the last of the lip gloss with it. Gretchen responds immediately, opening her mouth, inviting Karen in.
Gretchen's mouth is warm and tastes a bit salty, like the popcorn they had been eating while they watched a movie. Their tongues meet, stroking, tasting, retreating, tangling. Karen presses closer, arching her back a bit and angling her head down so she can drag her tongue over the roof of Gretchen's mouth.
Gretchen's fingers tighten around Karen's waist as she exhales through her nose, tickling Karen's face a little. It makes Karen smile a little reflexively, which makes Gretchen smile, until they're giggling into each other's mouths, and Karen doesn't think she could love a person more.
Karen peppers kisses along Gretchen's jawline, licking and nipping at the salty skin, before pressing a kiss to each cheek, the tip of Gretchen's nose, and the center of her forehead—for balance.
For a few moments, they just breathe each other's air, foreheads pressed together, enjoying the closeness. Then Gretchen kisses her again, more chaste this time, but achingly sweet and tender in a way that makes Karen's toes curl in her socks.
When their kissing peters out into just pecks, Karen pulls back and carefully wipes her lipstick away from Gretchen's lips with her thumb. Once satisfied, she shuffles off of Gretchen's lap to cuddle up to her side with a soft sigh, legs slung over Gretchen's and her head resting on her shoulder.
Absently, as they restart the movie, Karen thinks that she would be perfectly happy to do this every day for the rest of her life.
What would Cadina be like during a vacation or while traveling?
Regina obsessively plans everything (including detailed packing lists) and Cady just lets her because she doesn't really care that much about where they eat or stay as long as Regina is happy. Regina really likes relaxing on vacation—lying on the beach or by the pool, getting massages, etc—and Cady likes to go exploring and Do Things, so they have to compromise a lot. Sometimes Cady goes out on her own while Regina gets her nails done or something, although she did get lost going hiking once (only for like an hour, don't tell Regina).
Renee Rapp’s Regina: would she look like a British man if you cut off all her hair (also would Rachel McAdams because what a wild thing to say 2004 Mean Girls)?
This isn't really about Cadina but Betsy Heron meeting Sabrina George is certainly An Experience. Cady's mom is just... overwhelmed but Regina's mom is like "we're sisters now!" which she thinks is sweet.
💌 for a romance-themed headcanon
Cady is always doing romantic gestures like getting Regina flowers or bringing her breakfast in bed or giving her massages. Regina acts like this is silly and cliche but internally she loves it, and Cady knows it means a lot to her, too.
Cady has a habit of putting a dish in the sink with the intention of coming back and washing it or putting it in the dishwasher, but she always forgets. It drives Regina nuts. They also argue about the configuration of the dishwasher.
⛄ for a season-themed headcanon
Regina and Cady are both big summer people. Cady is super used to heat and Regina just hates being cold. Although neither are huge fans of NYC's #hotgarbagesummer, they love to spend afternoons in Central Park or down in Battery City by the water.
When Karen's cat passes, Gretchen helps her plan a little funeral, and then goes with her to adopt a new kitten.
🎥 for a film/tv-themed headcanon
They love watching movies together! Especially rom-coms. Gretchen was an Anyone But You Glen Powell/Sydney Sweeney truther.
💉 for a medical-themed headcanon
Gretchen is inwardly a hypochondriac but outwardly too much of a people pleaser to tell people when she's actually sick or hurt. She comes to school with the flu and Karen has to physically drag her to the nurse and hold her hand and assure her that she isn't inconveniencing anyone and her group projects will be okay if she goes home.
There's a sketchbook that lives at the bottom of a drawer under a bunch of art supplies that is full of nude sketches Janis has drawn of Regina (á la "paint me like one of your French girls"). It gives Regina a weird ego boost.
