major spoilers for ch208 below, obviously!!!

so so context my previous post abt kim soleum as an editor of the dark records symbolically being ireum nim. and i'm !!!!

because i'm still thinking about it?? and the story as is suggests that yeah, kim soleum is ireum, but also, he is an experiment from the dark records universe. but i think that is still? only half of it? because the experiment wasn't to create ireum-nim, but to call upon it, contain it in a vessel.

and in my post i talked about, the "truths" of ireum-nim line up with how understanding the dark records world as a collection of wiki entries works, that to be named means to be interesting, there is no escape because all is written by the editors, etc. the verrrry metaaa of it. so i think. he still is a person from a "regular" world, who was just isekai'd. but this body is still a creation of the cheerful research institute researchers. that's why there's no going home. the entity known as "kim soleum" only began existence in that lab but ireum-nim existed far before that.

And, thinking abt it, why else would he understand DER as a scp-esque wiki? it's so specific. yes, part of making him "stable" was erasing his own awareness of being ireum-nim, but something like that would be more likely to result in total amnesia, wouldn't it? and if he was the sole ireum-nim, why isn't this an "isekai'd into my own story" situation? why a wiki instead of a story? there are only very specific aspects kim soleum claims authorship over! why not all of it?

which is to say, it could be post-plot twist denial speaking, but i still think the view of dark records as a wiki is correct, if at least on the meta level...

(looks back at the chapter) okay let's look at the checklist of "requirements" to make a successful vessel for ireum-nim!

Preservation of Ireum-nim's original identity.

Erasure of previous emotional attachments.

Provision of a survival goal.

Removal of all sense of incongruity.

The easiest one to look at is "4.", obviously KSE has no memory of this experiment. He thinks he got spirited away. No.3 lines up with his self-preservation drive. Nobody wants their dear subject just killing itself. No.2 matches up to how KSE never talks about like... friends or family. He wants to go home because of that Number 3, because of his drive to survive, not because he misses his loved ones.

But what about that first one. Preservation of identity. Original identity. And obviously, he didn't know he's ireum-nim! So this "original identity" can only be his identity as "Kim Soleum". Just. What else would it be?

"After recognizing the mutation of its own bodily tissue, it rejected the combined materials, resulting in lumped collapse." "A request was made to adjust the material ratios to prepare a medium more closely reflecting Ireum-nim's exact appearance."

Points at this. This part, that Ireum-nim recognized that it had been changed, that it was incongruous, that this isn't what it's supposed to look like, freaked out! And KSE, as he exists now, exists to "reflect Ireum-nim's exact appearance."

Actually, writing this, I think his wish didn't work not because there is no home for him to go back to. I think there is! I think that, Ireum-nim is a collective, are the editors of the dark records wiki, and the world KSE came from is real. But, what the editors didn't know, is that the world they're creating is real, too. They all didn't know they're the god of this other world. Maybe the concept of Ireum-nim even arose as a meta joke, as haha that's us! But obviously nobody knows the self insert is literal, right. You don't expect the story to write to be a real physical other dimension with people who's lives you're ruining for funsies. Because to you they're just blorbos.

So, KSE's wish, as he said it while using the Wish Ticket, wasn't "going home to his home world", it was being taken back to where he was "The day before he joined Daydream Inc."

And that is here, the Cheerful Research Institute. Because he doesn't remember being here.

He was at that pop up store, it was just.... much longer ago than he thought it was. Far longer. 443 experiment failures longer.

Yeah! So that's what I think! If KSE is to reflect Ireum-nim's original identity and appearance, then that identity and prior existence is that of Kim Soleum exactly as he knows it! It's just that none of the editors knew that the dark records verse is real, and that they've figured out how to isekai one of its creators. So KSE is both himself, and only a fragment of Ireum-nim.

Anyways so do yall think that since his physical form apparently includes dragon blood, that that's why the blue dragon adopted him instantly? I mean, the given rank of that darkness was A, not B like the theme park, but we already know at this point that the blue dragon mascot is something far older and more dangerous below the cuddly appearance. It's possible! It would be funny.

Work in a mega corp > There's good benefits, an okayish follow-up and also this incredible thing you may have if you work well hard and long but the job sucks as much as the job interview did, your higher-ups are fucking terrifying and there's one coworker that can just fucking kill you for his own enjoyment and the company either doesnt care to know or doesnt care. Actually lots of your coworkers are absolute lunatics that would kill you for 10 [insert wtv currency you want] and the company encourage it in some cases. Your solace are the few coworkers that are nice, still somewhat sane and stuck in there as much as you, thank god your boss (they may die in a week or 6 months)

Work as a civil servant > The job still sucks but that's kinda the nature of it after all, though it depends a lot on where you work. There's not that much benefits but still some nice stuff if you get injured in your work for exemple. The work conditions are pretty flexible and your work environment is chill all things considered, though the higherups maybeee do some shady stuff but if you're NOT with the evil pharmaceutical (sorry repeated myself here) mega corp you'll be fine ! Everyone is friendly and encouraging (they may die in a week or 6 months)
