Rievaulx Abbey, Yorkshire UK. July 2024.
It was incredible to see where Saint Aelred lived and died.

You're a Cistercian, you say? More like a Transtercian to me. 🤷♀️
POV: You're a twelfth-century monk and you think of your body as of:

Like why. Why such a slutty metaphor 😭 (it's not even a biblical reference).
(From Aelred of Rievaulx's A Rule of Life for a Recluse)

I love that the knights are always beating the shit out of each other within an inch of their lives and then malory will be like “and then the good knights all went quietly to mass”

"Realistic take on arthurian legend" uhhhh no thank you. I would like my arthurian legend to be full of whimsy and unserious gags. Stop giving us that zero lighting game of thrones-esque gritty nonsense and give us more arthurian legend in all their extravagant colours and silly quests!!!

I am so glad that the word blorbos exists now. It’s so much more evocative and accurate than “comfort character”. Like, they’re different things. He doesn’t bring me comfort, he makes my hands itchy and I want to polish him with pledge. I want to put him in a Pringle’s tube and shake him. I want to brush his hair and put little shoes on him like a Bratz doll. That’s a blorbo.

they really should warn you before you start studying history that it's going to turn you into a complete freak about at least one historical figure like. somebody should give you a heads up that someday youll be reading cicero's letter to some other ancient roman about his weeklong episode of explosive diarrhea from eating mushrooms ar a dinner party and still go online to post about his consular senussy
