🎄✨ A Christmas Appeal from Gaza ✨🎄

For many, Christmas is a time of magic, love, and hope. But here in Gaza, where my family and I live, it’s a reminder of all we’ve lost.

This December, as the world celebrates with 🎁 decorations and gifts, my brother Ahmad and I dream of something simpler—a chance to live, learn, and heal.

While others gather around 🍽️ festive tables, my family struggles to find even basic food. While stockings are hung with care 🧦, our shoes are worn from fleeing destruction. And while carols fill the air 🎶, silence hangs heavy in our hearts, broken only by the memories of what we’ve lost.

But we haven’t given up hope. 🌟 Hope is all we have. Ahmad and I have started a campaign to escape to Egypt, continue our education, and rebuild our lives. We need your help to make that dream possible.

This Christmas, I invite you to remember families like mine, who are not asking for gifts 🎁, but for a chance—a chance to learn, thrive, and survive.

Wow I haven't posted on this account in ages. I'm very scared of it for a lot of reasons and stepping back from it has helped a lot of my issues with personal perception, but I don't want to abandon it entirely either. another person has self-immolated in protest of the ongoing genocide happening in Palestine. his name is Matt Nelson, he self-immolated in front of the Israeli consulate in Boston, he is the 5th known person to have done this. Before he did this, he stated his intentions and reasoning in a Youtube video which has been reposted across several platforms and the condensed transcription is as following:

“My name is Matt Nelson and I'm about to engage in an extreme act of protest. We are all culpable in the ongoing genocide in Gaza […] We are slaves to capitalism and the military industrial complex. Most of us are too apathetic to care. The protest I'm about to engage in is a call to our government to stop suppling Israel with the money and weapons it uses to imprison and murder innocent Palestinians, to pressure Israel to end the genocide in Gaza, and to support the ICC indictment of Benjamin Netanyahu and other members of the Israeli government […] A democracy is supposed to serve the will of the people, not the interests of the wealthy. Take the power back. Free Palestine.”

It's with a heavy but hopeful heart that I watch Palestinian families fundraiser on here, slowly accumulating the precious little money to go around that they need to survive. However, not everyone is so lucky. A lot of Palestinians that have not had that kind of luck, that did not get early verification, that did not get massive platforms behind them from large bloggers, have approached me in my inbox, asking me kindly to do what I can for them. It kills me that I have so little to give myself, but I've seen this platform collectively raise enough to change someone's life. I've made a list of Palestinian fundraisers that are extremely low on funds, in the hope that drawing attention to people who have not been lucky at all can help turn that luck around. I know most of us can't possibly give enough to get all of these families safe in one go. But please, reblog this list. Pick one or two fundraisers, give what you can, and then keep track of it. Hello, I'm Ola, a graduate student from the faculty of science - Al-Azhar University in Gaza Palestine. I truly appreciate you taking a moment to read my story. As you reading my message, myself and my family, “my mother, father, three sisters, and my little brother,” are fighting death in northern Gaza and trying to survive under all kinds of suffering including but not limited to destruction, fear, and instability, starvation, thirst, and poverty.

For nine months until now, we have been struggling to get proper food after prices increased by 15 to 20 times, struggling to have clean water for use and drinking. We lacked security and stability as we were forced to evacuate our house and left everything behind. Then we had to move at least three times since every new area we seek refuge to gets bombed.

I met this nice girl through my college friend. She's my friend's childhood best friend and I had heard so much about her so I was really excited to finally meet her. The three of us hung out at a stupid school-sponsored event into the late hours of the night, drinking soda and eating pizza and getting to know each other. At the end of it, she entered into a raffle and ended up winning free tickets to Disneyland. We celebrated and parted ways. It was the highlight of that semester.

A few months later, Israel began dropping bombs on her family home. I watched from afar as her entire life fell apart and her family was displaced and killed. Every time I asked how she was doing, she was doing bad.

In Palestine, as in a lot of places in the world, it is shameful to ask for money. A little bit after the war began, I passed a message along to her family offering to help raise funds for their evacuation, but they declined saying that they didn't want pity from anyone. Now it seems like they're running out of options.

My friend has already lost so much so please spare her the additional indignity of asking for help and not receiving it. I can't imagine how soul crushing it would be to do something you believe to be shameful and for your effort to go to waste.

Their goal is only $5000 and they've already raised ~$760, I don't see why we can't raise the full amount within the next week.

truly at a loss for words. nesma @nesmamomen has been fundraising on this website since fucking march and is so tantalizingly close to her goal yet shes only bringing in $5-$10 every couple of hours or so. please take this burden off her shoulders after she has already lost everything

by the way this is the procedure to get out of gaza

it costs 5k USD per adult and 2.5k USD per child

if you want to raise this money via GOFUNDME it has to be arranged by someone who is NOT living in Palestine because GFM does not release money to Palestine. GFM also verifies every detail so it has to be accurate so you need someone who is out of Palestine and also familiar with the bureaucracy.

once you raise the money one of your FIRST ORDER RELATIVES have to deposit this money IN CASH and IN PERSON at the Cairo offices of a company called hala. this person cannot be a Palestinian male under 40 because they are not allowed to be Egypt without a permit

once you pay the money you have to WAIT for your names to be published by Egyptian military at the Rafah crossing and the you have 24 hours to get out

it is a very long and convoluted process that is impossible for most Palestinians who do not have contacts in other counties. Please please donate to the GFMs you see floating around because they’ve been verified and this is only the first step in an arduous journey. Once in Cairo, Palestinians aren’t allowed to work so they need money for their support also.
