Answering a few questions about Wednesday (Addams) season 2 on Netflix.

For those confused about the GILF (?) version of the grandmother in Wednesday (Addams) being played by Joanna Lumely, from what I have read it appears she's playing Grandma Frump / Mama Frump. Mrs. Frump is Morticia's mother. The "old hag" Grandmama was Gomez's mother. Other incarnations of The Addams Family changed who the Hag Grandmama was related to.

It got so confusing that there's a joke about the "hag" Grandmama in The Addams Family Broadway musical where Gomez exclaims "My mother!? I thought she was YOUR mother!" and they just shrug it off, accepting her as an Addams without further question even though she's apparently just a crazy person who wandered in. That's an endearing trait about The Addams Family. Anyone can be an Addams if they want to be. Uncle Fester wasn't Gomez's brother in the 60s show either. He was Morticia's uncle.

So there is a chance the hag-like Grandmama is a separate character and will still appear in the show, as Mrs. Frump and Grandmama were separate characters in the 60s version of The Addams Family.

An interesting bit of trivia: In the few episodes that showed Mrs. Frump back in the 60s (Such as the flashback of Gomez and Morticia meeting) Mrs. Frump was played by Margret Hamilton (Wicked Witch of the West in The Wizard of Oz).

And no, Joanna Lumley as a grandmother is not ageist. (Bless your hearts. I'm sure she'd be touched.) She's seventy-nine-years-old. That's older than Carol Kane was as Grandmama in Addams Family Values.

And this brings me to my next point. I'm seeing a lot of "Where's Pubert?"

Pubert (Not to be confused with Pugsley) was invented for Addams Family Values. They (as I think Pubert was implied to be nonbinary) don't seem to exist in any other incarnation of The Addams Family. Wednesday (Netflix series) is not a direct sequel to the 90s Addams Family. It's kind of a patchwork quilt borrowing from all the various previous incarnations of The Addams Family. Pubert many still appear. I can't tell you they won't.

Crying because my favorite seniors are leaving. This is awful. I'm definitely gonna miss them and it's weird to think that is gonna be me next year.
