When eunaria was younger he found someone who shew affection by making rude jokes ect. Eunaria ignores how personal the jokes could get, just because he wanted to stay loyal as a friend. The image shows that their friendship has been at points where they are so close, people may mistake them for lovers, and then the next sentence shows the toll which the rude comments had on eunaria.
