Got a new portrait pack out, the FINAL pack for the "Gangs" series of character designs for my Retro Cybercity theme. These packs are ALL on sale currently and there is also a bundle price to get EVERYTHING all at once for less about $40 -- it's a lot of content that I've been slowly putting out for a couple years now.
If you have any use for it at all, or know someone who does, it would help me out if you signal boosted this and/or checked it out!
And this is Sgt. Squash, the fourth character you get so her sheet is still WIP and not quite complete. She is by far the most difficult of all four characters to draw and animate consistently.
I've probably shared this before in some form but this is the "battler" animation suite for Cathy in Cathy Goes Flipside. I'll share the other 3 characters soon.
It's nice to have some stuff to share. I've been working on crap that doesn't really translate well to social media posts up til like this week.
I've been experimenting w/ OBS and shit lately. This little video is a showcase of stuff that isn't in the demo release of the game yet, but will be.
If you know who that doll that flips the bird is a reference to, I'll give you a cookie of your choice.
I could still use some feedback on this project. It's not a super serious commercial game, but it IS a passion project. It's nowhere near finished but you CAN play it I bet you'll be delighted by at least one thing while you do so.
It's March 25, 2024 and my hate for how "surprise" has become this tokenized measure of response to things, as in "not a surprise" or "not shocking" becoming obligatory framing statements, continues unabated.
Days since anyone bothered to question why they even talk this way and what it likely means that they do or that it's been normalized:
Chrono Trigger, Dragonball, and Dragon Quest all had an indelible effect on me growing up. Each had a role shaping my tastes since all three were both for kids yet more than "just for kids".
Toriyama was one of the Japanese creators who seemed somehow permanent, an institution unto himself. Like Yoshitaka Amano or Hayao Miyazaki, who thankfully lives on, I don't think anime or games would be the same without Toriyama's immense influence and specific, idiosyncratic art style that had no problem running off in its own direction even as Japanese commercial art in games, manga, and anime became very homogenized and over-saturated. Which only makes Toriyama's uniqueness and contribution stand out that much more.
The art I'm posting is a few years old now but it's one of my favorite of my own pieces and is my personal tribute to the man, his art style, and his role in creating my all-time favorite video game.
