Thor: Love and Thunder
Tumblr media
Thor: Love and Thunder, the fourth film in the Thor series, is scheduled to release 8th July, 2022. Taika Waititi, who invigorated the series and character with the incredible “Thor: Ragnarok”, is back again to direct this instalment which for me, is great news. He is one of the best and most exciting directors out there and his work in the MCU previously has been excellent and most of all hilarious. He is amazing at including comedy in his films and who doesn’t love to laugh. Speaking of laughter, Waititi isn’t just back to direct but also to play the lovable fan favourite, Korg once again. The movie has a great cast, with Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson returning as Thor and Valkyrie, Natalie Portman coming back as Jane foster for the first time since 2013’s Thor: The Dark World, and the inclusion of Christian Bale as a new Character to the MCU. It is also confirmed that Chris Pratt’s Starlord will be in the movie, along with rumours of more Guardians characters like Rocket and Groot who have established relationships with the God of Thunder. I am a massive fan of the Guardians of the Galaxy, and also a massive fan of Thor. When they have interacted previously in the MCU it has been gold so I am very much looking forward to that part of the film. I can say without any doubt that this is my most anticipated Marvel movie coming up. The previous instalment, Thor: Ragranok was the most fun I have ever had watching a Marvel movie, and isn’t that the whole point of movies? To be entertained and have fun? I think it is. So if Love and Thunder can bring that fun feeling again, I will be a verry happy Marvel fan.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness
Tumblr media
Doctor Strange: in the Multiverse of Madness is set to be the first Marvel Cinematic Universe movie of 2022, with a current release date of 6th May. Benedict Cumberbatch is returning as Doctor Stephen Strange, fresh from the previous movie “Spider-Man: No Way Home”. Similarly, alongside Cumberbatch will be Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff (Scarlett Witch) who recently starred in the hit Disney plus show “Wandavision”, which as the first marvel Disney plus show to debut lead the way, with it’s success, for many more to come after it.  It is thought that both of the two main lead’s previous Marvel projects will factor into the story of this movie. The movie will also feature the returning cast of Benedict Wong, Rachel McAdams, and Chiwetel Ejiofor. This is an exciting one. The character of Doctor Strange has continued to grow in popularity since his first movie, with several appearances in other MCU projects, where he’s been able to interact with characters like Thor, Spider-man, Tony Stark, and the Guardians of the Galaxy. While the Character has grown in popularity, so to has the power of the character himself, becoming an even greater sorcerer, which only makes him more exciting to watch. The character journey of the arrogant but extremely talented surgeon, to almost giving up on life, to the Sorcerer Supreme is one I am looking forward to continuing in this movie. With the use of “Multiverse” in the title of the film, it is clear Marvel knows what it’s doing at this point. They know this will drive fans crazy with the huge potential this film has to pull off insane, crowd- pleasing stunts. The idea of a story involving the multiverse where we might see different variations of characters we already know is awesome for fans and only serves to encourage the excitable fans I mentioned in the previous post who are anticipating multiple spider-men in “No Way Home”. Whatever this one ends up being, it is definitely one to watch out for in the Summer movie season in 2022.

Spider-Man: No Way Home
Tumblr media
Spider-Man: No Way Home, set for a 17th December 2021 release date, will be the third MCU Spider-man film and promises to be the biggest and best so far. Tom Holland, who is beloved by fans, will return for his 6th MCU appearance overall, alongside Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor strange, as well as his usual co-stars: Zendaya (MJ), Marisa Tomei (Aunt May) and John Favreau (Happy Hogan). It has been suggested that Doctor Strange will fill as the father figure in Peter Parker’s life that Tony Stark originally played. It’ll be interesting to see how Strange differs from Stark in this regard and what lessons Peter can learn this time. Now, for a very long time there has been massive speculation about this film surrounding the rumors and whispers and tiny pieces of information pointing to this movie including not just Tom Holland as Peter Parker; but also Toby Maguire and Andrew Garfield playing their own versions of Spider-man. This would be massive. Fans have been going crazy over these rumors, and you can understand why. For me, as a life-long Spider-man fan, I grew up with both of the other Spider-man actors and I love all of them for different reasons, so the idea that some sort of multiverse event could bring together all three spider-men of my lifetime on screen is incredible. All that being said, Marvel have not confirmed anything at all. They are being very tight-lipped about the movie, which ironically makes fans even more suspicious that they are covering up something big. The one solid piece of evidence we have came in the only trailer they’ve released for the movie so far, where, at the end of the trailer we see our current Spider-man about to face off against Doctor Octopus played by Alfred Molina, who was the main villain of the 2004 Spider-man 2 which starred Tobey Maguire. Just seeing that filled me with nostalgia for my childhood. All the speculation can be fun but it can also ruin something when it gets built up to much. Your expectations can become carried away with themselves and end up spoiling things so I’m just trying to hold back until I can sit down in the cinema and see what happens. Regardless, there’s plenty to be excited for when it comes to a new Spidey adventure, so I am definitely looking forward to this one a lot.

Hawkeye
Tumblr media
Hawkeye is the latest Marvel show coming to Disney Plus. Episodes 1 and 2 set to release on 24th November, with the remaining 4 episodes coming out weekly in the lead up to Christmas, which seems to be a central theme of the series. The show is starring MCU veteran, Jeremy Renner as Clint Barton “Hawkeye” and MCU newcomer Hailee Steinfield as Kate Bishop who will be teaming up for this new adventure, in which Clint must face enemies from his past while also battling to get home to his family in time for Christmas. As soon as it was announced that Hawkeye would have his own Disney Plus show, I couldn’t have been more excited. The character receives unwarranted hate from some fans, which I couldn’t disagree with more as he is one of my favourites. I think a lot of the negative opinions come from the fact that he isn’t a massively powerful character, but I think those people are missing the point. What makes the MCU as interesting as it is, is that it tells storys about who these heroes are as people, on the inside, in their hearts. The characters are humanised in our eyes and that’s what draws us to them, and no one is more human than Clint Barton, who may be a S.H.I.E.L.D super-spy, but also a father, may be an amazing fighter, but also a husband, may be an avenger, but also the glue that holds the larger than life team together and brings them back down to earth when needed. Jeremy Renner also just brings such a likable presence to the roll that is quite frankly undeniable. You’ll be happy to know, that’s my Clint Barton rant over and although it might be the nerdiest thing I have ever written - I have no regrets. At the end of the day, I think this is going to be something special. From the trailer we can tell it will have a light-hearted, comedic tone, mixed with all the great Marvel action we know and love. And also – Christmas! What’s not to be excited about.

Eternals
Tumblr media
Marvel’s Eternals is fast approaching, with a UK release date of 5th November. Marvel have put it out there since it was announced that this will be a very different MCU film than what we’re used to. In Eternal’s we will be introduced to a brand-new superhero team who are aliens that have secretly lived on planet earth for thousands of years. Taking place in a world after Avengers: Endgame, an unexpected tragedy forces the team out of the shadows to face “mankind’s most ancient enemy” – the deviants. One of my favourite things about this universe is seeing characters I’ve known for years come back for new adventures and interact with each other in new and exciting ways. But as much as I love being reunited with beloved characters, there’s always something awesome about being introduced to new faces, finding out who they are, what their deal is and what their place is in the grand scheme of the MCU. The concept of these powerful beings living amongst us for thousands of years is an intriguing one. I hope they have found interesting ways to involve these new characters in the history of the Marvel Universe and make the most of having characters that lived for so long on our planet. Eternals also has a great cast with famous faces like Angelina Jolie; Richard Madden and Kit Harrington, both of whom starred in Game of Thrones. Luckily this one’s just around the corner so we can all jump out to the cinema and see what we think!

Introduction
Are you a marvel fan? So am I. Welcome to my blog, I hope you will enjoy the content I will be posting here. We all love to talk about our favourite marvel movies or TV shows and find out every last piece of information about the future projects we are patiently waiting for. Over the next few weeks, I will be giving you details about these upcoming projects and my thoughts on the films/TV shows and new developments that come up. Being a big fan of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) for many years, you can imagine that I am very excited for what the future will bring: and it looks promising. Upcoming projects I will discuss include Eternals, Hawkeye (TV show), Spider-Man: No Way Home, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and Thor: Love and Thunder. This is just a taste of the phase 4 line-up, there are many more projects on the way such as, Ms. Marvel, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, however I am choosing to focus these 5 as we could be here for years otherwise. Although don’t get me wrong, I could never get tired of chatting about my favourite film series, which is why I am very excited to have lots of marvel discussions on this blog that are hopefully informative and entertaining.
