4 Office Safety Ideas
These are 4 Office Safety Ideas, Every Owner Should Understand: to enable them educate their own managers and make an office safety environment centered on shared responsibilities:
1) Stay Mindful Of Environment
This point necessitates understanding the exact dangers the office. As soon one has found such risks, you will be capable of maintaining observation of potential hazardous spaces, and would-be dangerous situations. Always check for the operation of heavy machinery and assume that the operator can not see you.
2) Take care of Employees Back’s
Office employees who spend most of their day at a desk should keep their shoulders in-line with the hips to prevent back pain and potential long term effects. If employees are picking up product, make sure they use right form so not to injury their backs. Limits should be placed on how frequently workers bend over and twist, repeated bending and twisting is harmful for the back. Ideally, always employ ergonomic designed office furniture and safety equipment so to avoid injury or discomfort.
3) Allow 15 Minute Breaks
Countless office/work injuries happen when an employee is fatigued, exhausted and not alert to their environment. Allowing (2) 15 minute breaks helps employees stay awake on the job. Often productive workers will plan the most challenging duties when they are most concentrated and alert. People peak at different times of the day so this will vary from person to person.
4) Lower Office Stress
Stress can lead to depression, heart problems and other serious complications. Keeping employees stress level low is important for a healthy work environment. Common causes of office stress are extended hours, major work load, job insecurity and disputes with staff or managers. Owners should encourage employees to take their worries regarding office stress to their boss and see how they might help address the problem. This encourages an open healthy work environment where all opinions are important.
It’s up to you to get staff on-board with office safety initiatives, motivating staff to turn into energetic participants in the program. Present to employees and managers the office injury statistics and the inherent dangers their job role presents to these folks on a daily basis. Give rewards for being an example of great office safety tendencies.

Business Owners Define Safe Workplace
http://www.evancarmichael.com/library/jason-friedman/business-owners-define-a-safe-work-enviroment.html
youtube
Construction’s “Fatal Four” Out of 4,379 worker fatalities in private industry in calendar year 2015, 937 or 21.4% were in construction — that is, one in five worker deaths last year were in construction. The leading causes of private sector worker deaths (excluding highway collisions) in the construction industry were falls, followed by struck by object, electrocution, and caught-in/between. These “Fatal Four” were responsible for more than half (64.2%) theconstruction worker deaths in 2015, BLS reports.Eliminating the Fatal Four would save 602 workers’ lives in America every year.
Falls — 364 out of 937 total deaths in construction in CY 2015 (38.8%)
Struck by Object – 90 (9.6%)
Electrocutions – 81 (8.6%)
Caught-in/between* – 67 (7.2%)
(*This category includes construction workers killed when caught-in or compressed by equipment or objects, and struck, caught, or crushed in collapsing structure, equipment, or material)

Five Workplace Fall Safety Tips, Commonly Overlooked
Five Fall Prevention Tips
Typically employers think of ladder training when they think of fall prevention tips. But we also need to think of tripping hazards that can cause just as much damage as falls from great heights. The five below tips are commonly overlooked fall prevention tips.
1.) Encourage Proper Footwear
We start off this list with an uncommon point of safety. But comfortable that are properly fitting are often overlooked with workplace safety. Proper ergonomics prevents long term injuries to workers as well.
2.) Install Proper Flooring
To follow up the point on number one, it is the responsibility of the employer to have proper flooring as much as the employee should have proper foot wear. An abrasive surface is less likely to have slips or falls. Also proper matting helps prevent employee injury.
3.) Cover Cables/Cords in Walkways
Having distinguished paths is designed to prevent debris and hazards from walkways. If a cord is required there are several safety options that cover the cords and prevent an employee from tripping.
4.) Replace burn-out light bulbs promptly
Dimly lit areas are easily overlooked as safety hazards, but any decline in visibility is an issue. It is important to have procedures in place that ensures that light bulbs are checked and replaced at regular intervals.
 5.) Keep Drawers Shut
Have filing cabinet drawers left open is a common over looked workplace safety violation. Not only does the weight cause a tip hazard but an open bottom drawer can easily be overlooked and cause a work place fall.
This list is five workplace safety tips to help prevent falls. This list is not inclusive of all hazards but quick guide on common overlooked health and safety violations. For more information follow my blog at oshasafe.wordpress.com

Fall Protection – Lanyards & Harnesses
Lanyards
The Miller Turbo Lite is a great solution to fall protection issues. The self-retracting lanyard instantly brakes for additional safety.
Another style of lanyard is the 4 in 1 Safety Lanyard these have multiple points of connection but do not feature the tight retraction of the Miller Turbo Lite.
Depending on the application there are fire retardant safety lanyard options as well. These are best for welding situations due to the high heat.
Safety Harnesses
The safety harness wore by each user so they can attach on to multiple safety points. It is recommenced to have a harness in sizes from small to 2XL. The safety harness should have sufficient harness to comfortably support your weight incase of fall.
