Well out of the blue I just remembered today the time I accidentally joined the cast of a production of The Princess Bride….in the middle of the production.

Yesterday I learned that Rocco Bonetti, one of the swordmasters referenced in The Princess Bride, was much-hated by other swordmasters in the area and was killed “easily” by a drunk opponent in a duel. Apparently ‘Bonetti’s Defense ’ is literally stepping backwards.

Day 3 of Draw With Faeb Week, favorite character/creature from a childhood film. I was a little older when The Princess Bride came out, but I decided to draw Dread Pirate Roberts for today :3

I filmed a bout for you all! Unfortunately, it is very long and needs editing. So please enjoy this (slightly ridiculous) clip of the last touch.

It’s often discussed how the golden age of mature, adult-oriented fantasy has come about in the last decade. Indeed, the genre’s pop culture dominance is as undeniable as The Lord of the Rings winning Oscars, Game of Thrones winning Emmys, and the latter-day Harry Potter films just winning all the money that’s on the table.
Yet, with all the scowling severity of today’s digital sorcery, the form’s universal roots of artifice and oral tradition have been as supplanted as Bilbo Baggins’ role in The Hobbit films. In lieu of excessive Orc decapitation and decadent CGI wizard battles, an adolescent mania for the somber has hidden the emotional reason we love these kind of stories: they’re eternal daydreams meant to be shared from one generation to the next. No film understood that better than the less modern, but infinitely savvier, The Princess Bride, a modern immortal fantasy.

Would it be totally out of line with the interests of the readership if I posted one of my bouts from next frencing practice?
#it amuses me that in TPB we have the chatty duel between supposed enemies#and it's very pretty and choreographed#but then when we sport fence in club there are horrifying screams and crashing into each other and falling into walls
