Oh Dori, y'really don't have to do that. I'll gladly accompany you to Honeydukes though. We females have to stick together.

Salamander? He was going to the Three Broomsticks last I saw of him.

Rose started to protest, partially because she wanted to be courteous, partially because she suspected he'd somehow mess it up. But before she could say anything, he had already gotten up from his seat, crossing over to the counter. Rose shrugged her shoulders and instead took to opening her textbook to the potions instructions, reviewing them as she waited for Scorpius to come back. They took up two full pages and Rose snorted as she read on. For a Draught of Peace, the entire process looked ironically difficult.

"I’ll get the stuff," Scorpius murmured, standing and walking toward the desk. As he was walking, Malfoy had noticed his friends had gone up and paired off with each other. Secretly, he felt betrayed, but shook it off. Maybe Rose would be nice and they would become friends. After all, most of his friendships started out is classrooms.

Rose jumped slightly at the creak of the door, relaxing (though not by much) once she saw Molly step inside. “Come on in.” She called with a wave and a small smile, masking the nerves churning in her stomach. The tall, gorgeous ginger approached her and took a seat in one of the student desks up front. She held out her hand, offering Rose chocolate frogs, her favorite treat. Rose was touched, and more than a little tempted after skipping dinner, but she politely declined anyhow. “Thanks, but you can keep those. Lysander still owes me some, I’ll have my fix then.”
Her stomach said otherwise, rumbling loudly enough to hear and causing Rose to blush. “On second thought, I guess I’ll take one.” She plucked a carton out of Molly’s hands, opening it up from its pull tab on top. Holding the treat between her forefinger and thumb, she took a small bite. The usually enjoyable chocolate tasted wrong on her tongue, tasted off, as if it was punishing her for accepting something from Molly when she herself had betrayed her. She swallowed the bit in her mouth and set the rest of the frog aside, her appetite gone after that thought.
Instead, Rose looked down at her hands still resting on her lap, wringing the hem of her skirt to a disorderly mess. Merlin, she could hardly bring herself to look Molly in the eye right now, and she hadn’t even said anything yet. She was going to be a right mess by the end of this. Common sense told her it would be easier to just admit everything now, get it over with and just leave as soon as possible. After all, putting it off would only make everything more difficult. C’mon Rose, you’re making this out to be a bigger deal than it really is. Just say it, just say it, just—
“I snogged Liam Finnigan!”
Well, she always was frank. A hand flew to Rose’s mouth, surprised at how quickly that came out. She looked up at Molly, searching for a reaction as well as making sure she hadn’t run away. “I know he’s your ex, and I’m sorry, it just happened. I was distraught, I was emotional, and he suddenly just kissed me and I started kissing back…” She could feel her cheeks warming up, recalling the intense kiss they had shared at the corridor. No, Rose, focus! She shook her head as if shaking herself back to reality before speaking again. “But I mean, we didn’t do much, I stopped it the moment I realized he wanted to shag.” Good godric, now you’re just digging yourself into a bigger hole. Rose kicked herself in the shins for prattling on like that. She took a few deep breaths, let herself calm down before saying anything stupid again. “What I mean is, it was a mistake, and I’m sorry.” Rose looked up at Molly worriedly, almost pleadingly. “Can you forgive me?”
Nothing Will Come Between Us || Molly & Rose
Molly chewed on her food carefully counting the amount of times she chewed. When she was upset she acted like she was OCD, it calmed her down. She reached 200 and swallowed her food before taking another mouthful and counting again. She’d chosen to sit by herself at dinner as she often did on the days she got owls from her father. Her friends didn’t even question it. She glanced down the Gryffindor table at her family members and friends.
She glanced over at the Ravenclaw table looking for Rose. She scanned the table multiple times before coming to the conclusion that Rose wasn’t there. That made her worried. She stopped counting and quickly finished her meal. If Rose was missing a meal it must be something bad. Molly hoped that Rose was okay, her cousin was a delicate girl. She;d hurt anyone who bothered her cousin if she needed to. She finished her meal and the bell rang, she stood heading to the common room. She’d make a quick stop in her dorm room before heading to the tower. She went to the bathroom quickly, re-applying her make-up and making sure she looked okay. She grabbed some chocolate frogs out of her trunk knowing that they’d make Rose feel better.
Molly should have hurried there but for some reason she felt apprehensive about the meeting. She stopped and chatted to a few people in the corridor before heading towards the staircase. She walked up them slowly wondering what it was that Rose wanted to talk about and why she hadn’t been at dinner. She stopped outside the door taking a breath and collecting herself before walking in, she didn’t know what it was but she really didn’t feel good about this conversation. She put her hand on the door and took a deep breath before pushing the door open and stepping inside.
She blinked and looked over towards the teachers deck where Rose was perched. “Hey Rose, what’s up?” She said walking over and sitting on one of the desks opposite of the teachers desk. She glanced at her cousin. “You weren’t at dinner, is everything okay? You must be hungry. I brought you chocolate frogs.” She said sliding of the desk she’d sat on and walking over holding out the chocolate frogs.

Rose's blue eyes flickered over to Scorpius upon hearing her name and she fixed him a stern look, pressing her forefinger to her lips. "Didn't your parents ever teach you not to talk in the middle of a lesson? Prof'll bite our heads off." She hissed through her teeth, just loud enough for Scorpius to hear, before turning her attention back to Professor Schuler. "Today we're going to start with a challenge," He boomed in his authoritative voice. "The Draught of Peace. It's alright if you make mistakes, I just want to see where you're at right now. The person beside you will be your Potion's partner for this concoction and for all others throughout the year so be sure to get acquainted. Ingredients are set out on that counter over there," He gestured to the far side of the room where bowls of different items were set out neatly. "And you may begin now."

“Sorry I’m late, Sir.” Scorpius grumbled, making his way to the desk he was told to sit in. He walked at his normal pace towards his spot, but soon slowed down as soon as he saw the person he would be sitting next to. He recognized her as one of the Weasley girls, he just couldn’t tell which one she was. When he reached his desk, Scorpius set his things on his desk and sat down. His eyes flickered to the things on her desk, hoping to see a name. Finally, he did. All of the girl’s items were marked with the name Rose. “Hi, Rose.” He said quietly, so the professor wouldn’t here. “I guess we’re potions partners?”

"Rosie, what do you have hidden behind your back?"
"What are you talking about? There's nothing behind my back. Why would you think there's something behind my back? Trust me, nothing's there."
"You're a really awful liar..."

Turn To Page 394 || Scorpius & Rose
Rose entered her potions class with a small skip to her step, taking pride in the fact that she had gotten high enough marks on her OWL to move to NEWT level. Professor Schuler only accepted those with an E or above into his course, and the sixth year Weasley was one of the few who met those requirements. She wondered who else would be joining her this year, or more, who would be her competition. Rose entered the room early, wanting to make a good impression on her professor. She took a seat in the front row beside his desk and they made idle conversation as the rest of the class trickled in. Most looked fairly nervous about being there, but if Rose was intimidated, she didn't show it in her expression at all.
They avoided the seat beside her, frightened of being so close to their professor, tall and intimidating. She didn't mind, that meant she had more space to set up her cauldron, textbook, and paper and quill for notes. Rose was already fully prepared by the time the bell rung and the lesson had begun, diving straight into scribbling down key points. Five minutes in, she heard a thundering of footsteps from down the corridor followed by the classroom door bursting open. The class, including Rose, fell silent to look at the source of the noise to face a handsome blonde Slytherin boy. Rose held back a chuckle recognizing him to be Scorpius Malfoy.
"Ah, Mister Malfoy, is it?" Professor Schuler asked, peering over the ebony rim of his glasses. "Due to your tardiness, I think a seat in front is appropriate for you. Perhaps over here?" His slender fingers drummed on the empty seat beside Rose.

As the realization sunk in that Lysander would not be paying if Rose were to go on the trip, she felt her cheeks flush a soft shade of pink in embarrassment. “Shut up, I knew that.” She muttered, the lie keeping some of her dignity intact. The embarrassment soon faded away as he discussed the trip further, mentioning that the entire thing would be funded by sponsors of the Scamander family. Her blue eyes widened at this information. “So it doesn’t cost a single knut save for meals?” If that was the case, then Rose thought she might have to reconsider her decision to become an Auror. To travel all around the world with no expenses, that sounded like a dream come true. “Are you sure they’ll be alright with paying for food? I eat an awful lot, y’know.” She said with a grin, though the question was completely honest. Rose didn’t want to feel guilty by making them pay for her if they didn’t want to. If anything, her parents had taught her good values. She pouted as Lysander yanked on one of her ginger curls, sticking her tongue out at him childishly. “Just you wait, Salamander, I’ll think of somethin’ better.” Already her mind was reeling with ways to butcher his name, though Lysander was already pretty strange in and of itself.
Rose countered his mistrusting stare with a quirk of her thin eyebrow as if daring him to say any more on the subject. Inside she could feel the nerves stirring uncomfortably at the pit of her stomach. If she knew Lysander, she knew he wouldn’t be quick to let this go. And he was a rather sociable guy, and he had his sources for school gossip. Sooner or later, he’d figure out she was lying, or worse, the gossip train would believe she wasn’t and she would become the school slag. Sure she hated being seen as a prude, but it wasn’t like being a slag was any better.
Rose couldn’t help but laugh at Lysander’s half compliment. “I’ll take care of the escape plan then. You ward off the Dementors with that charm of yours.” She followed her own compliment with a broad grin and a gentle nudge of Lysander’s shoulder. “And I don’t believe they allow wands at Azkaban, otherwise it’d be ridiculously easy to avoid the Dementors. A little counterintuitive since they’re the prison guards, don’t you think?”
“Of course I still want it. Three knuts buys me a chocolate frog at Honeydukes.” Rose quipped, rolling her eyes at his attempt to play it off. She propped an elbow on the table surface and rested her chin in her cupped hand for a better view of the first years. “Oliver Abel” was the first to be called up, and the hat had barely touched the little one’s head before it cried HUFFLEPUFF. From the table beside them, a raucous applause was heard. This kept going, first years tottering up to the stool and having the hat placed atop their head to decide their fate for the next seven years. A few were sent over to Ravenclaw, and were greeted with a warm smile and applause from Rose. They had already reached the Cs and the little girl was still waiting to be called.

Nothing Will Come Between Us || Molly & Rose
It was dinner time and anyone who knew Rose knew that she had her father's endless appetite and knew she would never skip dinner. So it was clear something was wrong when the sixth year ginger was still in her dormitory, lying on her four poster bed faced down so she was smothered by her pillow. Her dorm mates looked at her with concern, understandably worried about their friend's odd behavior, and asked her if everything was alright, to which she'd respond with a muffled "I'm fine" and resume wallowing in silence.
It wasn't until after the bell had rung signaling that supper had finished that Rose got up from her spot. She crossed the room to her mirror and wrinkled her nose at her unseemly bedhair, orange curls sticking every which way. Grabbing the comb from the top drawer, Rose brushed out her hair until it looked presentable enough for public. At least she didn't look completely awful now. Satisfied, she threw the brush back inside its place and shut the drawer firmly. With one last glance at her reflection, she walked out the door.
Rose bobbed and weaved her way through the crowd of students storming out of the Great Hall. She received a few hellos and waves from students, but the normally sociable girl didn't stop to talk, heading straight for her destination. She made her down the corridor, through the hall, up the spiral staircase, until finally she reached the door. With a twist of the bronze knob it opened in an eerie creak. Rose peeked inside the room, looking left, right, making sure it was empty before she stepped inside.
She took her place at the professor's desk, sitting up on the oak surface. Technically, students were not allowed to do that, but who was here to see anyhow? Rose sat in silence, bunching the fabric of her skirt in a nervous tick, her sapphire eyes frozen on the clock above the door that ticked sharply with every passing second. She began to wonder if she stared at it long enough, hard enough, that she could stop time. Slow it down at least. Just enough so she could figure out what to say to Molly once she got there. Merlin, what was she even going to say?
