idk if anyone is actually curious about this but uh, heres a general look at my setup/supplies when drawing <3

TRADITIONAL:

general: overall i dont colour my traditional art and its usually more of a sketching thing, when i want to clean it up properly and add colour ill imported to a drawing software

sketchbook/paper: i usually carry a small sketchbook (about a5 size) with me, the one i have rn is from a chapters but i used to just use these bullet journals from the dollarstore. they had dots which helped for lining things up, and they layed perfectly flat. the main downside was the paper sucked ass so most markers would go right through.

when i dont have my sketchbook i usually just draw on the back or in the margins of old worksheets and tests

pencils/pens: i like to do a rough sketch using a regualr #2 pencil and then clean it up with a .7 or .5 mechanical. when i decide to add a pen line ill use my microns.

DIGITAL:

general: i use 2 different softwares depending on where i am when im drawing

medibang + medium bluetooth intuos tablet: this is how ive done digital since about 2020ish, medibang is a free software that used the firealpaca framework, its pretty intuative and customizable and if you want all the brushes/materials you can buy it outright for about 60$ (or you can make/import your own brushes). they also offer like,, art competitions and tutorials on their site so its pretty good.

for me medibang is where i do my more polished references and drawings, if you see a full body character ref on my page, its probably from medibang. this is bc i prefer the brushes and tool suite i have there over whats available in...

procreate + ipad pro: ive been drawing in procreate for about 2 years now, its where i do most of the more sketchy digital art. i think this is bc its a screen tablet system rather than the intuos which isnt. i find the tools and brushes over there are a lot easier for a more experimental + loose style

the main benefit of procreate for me is that i use my tablet for school, so i always have it with me which makes it really convenient

Im ruminating on a longer post abt this sort of thing (artsyle/character evolution and what that says about your values/goals when creating something) bc its kinda been on my mind lately, but in the meantime wanted to post a cheeky little art comparison of my first and most recent drawings of amze <3

im gonna add some design notes/ideas for cassie actually bc im crazy abt her lately

so cassie (and her twin sister birdie) are the result of a union between a night hag (which are classified as fiends in 5e) and an angel, so shes half angel half demon. But the idea with cassie and birdie was to do a fraternal thing, so cass is the aasimar

overall i want cassie to be someone who looks very human, until you get closer, like my main idea is that this celestial power is barely being contained by her mortal body

so she dresses very reasonably, in sensible leather with a hat and poncho to protect her from the sun. but she also has these raised markings all across her skin that almost look carved, and her hair is impossibly white with pearl like chatoyancy, and her skin seems too hot, and trying to touch her is like trying to force two magnets together
