Hello, I'm Shelley! I'm currently building lots for my CC-free neighbourhood called Whitmeade, and all of it's subhoods.I love playing a 'mega Maxis Match' game and am always looking for creative ways to build and furnish no-CC lots! I also enjoy cleaning up Maxis clothing textures and meshes.

nine some people I want to get to know better
Thanks so much for the tag, @hypersaline! :)
Last song: My nostalgic summer playlist has been on, as the weather has been absolutely beautiful today...
youtube
Favourite color: The garden is a flurry of colour at the moment, but I've been really digging the return of the pink rhododendrons! 🌺 My Sarah Bernhardt peony is on the cusp of blooming, too- it's got so many buds this year. Excited! :D
Currently watching: Nothing at the moment, but I was roped into watching Last One Laughing UK with dinner recently. It didn't make me laugh as much as I'd hoped...
Last movie: According to my movie log:
Philomena (2013) — 15th February 2025 6/10 Feel like this could have been a little shorter- the story feels 'done' by the first hour, so seeing it still had forty minutes left was a shock! Absolutely harrowing real-life story, and Judi Dench absolutely nails this role.
Currently reading: The Mountain in the Sea by Ray Nayler. An online penpal suggested this after getting onto the topic of potential animal cultures. :)
Sweet, spicy, or savory: Still sweet. My diet has been nothing short of terrible recently.
Relationship: Going to skirt this one slightly... xD Returning to online penpal-ing has been super insightful in so many ways! Learning a lot about myself and how I like to communicate this time around, which has been an interesting change from my last attempt.
Current obsession: Sadly not TS2- I burnt out hardcore after cramming for my end of year gifts, and I'm still not totally over it. >_<
Currently obsessed with... so much! Spring has given me new life. x) Photography, letter writing, long walks in the wonderful weather, the garden, drawing, painting, imagining; bought some new kit for 3D experiments. Feels good to feel good. 😎
Last googled: Probably the definition for a word I've since forgotten. x)
Currently working on: A long-ass letter, mostly! I have so many projects on hold right now, aaaaa. 🙈
Tagging: You! I haven't logged in here enough to know who's been tagged or not, apologies. x)

Deadly Bee Swarms | Download A mod that helps make 'death by flies' a tiny bit easier to achieve.
I've never had a ghost of this death type in my game naturally, even when intentionally neglecting my sims' cleanliness, but now it's an added risk when hiking and hunting bugs! Still rare, but no longer seemingly impossible. x)
Behaviour This mod adds a simple coin flip to determine whether the swarmed sim will die or not.
I haven't seen enough bee swarms in normal gameplay to feel like this would need additional logic, but if there's interest I can add some extra checks for a sims' activity and body skill levels, too. :)
youtube
Conflicts This mod overrides the BHAV Interaction - Chased By Bees.
As far as I can see, there hasn't been a hiking or bug hunting mod to alter this particular BHAV yet, but please do let me know if you run into any conflicts!

#The Sims 2#The Sims 2 Download#TS2 Mods#TS2CC#Olive Specter Posting begins 💀🖤#I haven't used the bug hunting feature extensively in gameplay to complete a bug collection#but when repeatedly testing it for this mod bees do seem slightly easier to run into#than when hiking; the coin flip was merciful four times#So your game insights on how to weight the death chance would be much appreciated!#Definitely going to be making more 'easier death' mods#One because so many death types are impossible to achieve accidentally#Two because my graveyards need more ghost type variance#And three I need to counteract Brunwick's baby boom xD

Now to decide what to build in this final corner… The only ‘small town’ thing I can think of that I'm missing is a sports field/club?

I also finally finished the cemetery! 🎉
From the sheer number of years this has sat unfinished, I think it's safe to say cemeteries are one of my least favourite lots to make. x) But very pleased with the outcome; especially the dilapidated part! :)
(Sarcophagi pilfered from Zarathustra's awesome cemetery lot)

I apparently built this in 2019! And it's been stuck in 'wedding venue limbo' for a good few years. Finally decided to just finish the damn ponds and duplicate the function rooms/bathrooms. x)
#The Sims 2#Whitmeade#And paint dirt. Soooo much dirt!#Which I then overpainted with grass for some reason! D’oh#To my dismay I now know the diagonal wedding stuff won't work but it's too cute to rotate :')

A swim centre/gym for Whitmeade. Been putting off the interior for this one forever!
#The Sims 2#Whitmeade#It kinda has a nonsensical layout now that I look at it#But I only felt like decorating x)

PSA for anyone that uses Photoshop Elements for CC-making and was thinking of upgrading— from Elements 2025 onwards, licenses are no longer perpetual, being replaced by three-year licenses instead.
For a paid alternative, I highly recommend Affinity Photo (currently 50% off for Black Friday– £33.99 in the UK).
Affinity was acquired earlier this year by Canva, so there's every chance it will move to a subscription itself in the future, but I always cursed myself for never getting CS6 back in the day (hence why I'm making this post! xD).
Of course, there's also the free, open-source alternatives Krita and GIMP- the latter of which is currently testing what may become version 3.0.
(Whilst I'm on the subject I might as well also mention 3D Coat Textura– Pilgway usually has a Black Friday sale too, but it's a bit pricier and more of a niche program than the ones listed above.)
#Kinda non-sims?#CC-making#Texturing#Executables on executables xD#My other software licensing warning- check how many installs you're allowed and/or whether you can revoke activations from devices!#I lost my Corel Painter license this way; thankfully they had a Humble Bundle sale so I could rescue my files for ~£15#As a hobbyist I don't feel like subscriptions allow me to fully create#Instead it puts a time limit on my enjoyment and thus only leads to me thinking about money whilst using it#wondering if my time and money could be better spent elsewhere etc.#vs. a perpetual license that removes that overhanging feeling entirely and lets me fully enjoy creating

Cemetary ponds redux; lost in 2018, rebuilt in 2022, and still being procrastinated on well into 2024!
#The Sims 2#Whitmeade#Must. Paint. Dirt...#I haven't jazzed up the graveyard for Brunwick either#Would be nice to actually utilise a lot for ghost hunting wants!

Pinecroft Retirement Community. Not sure how this type of lot will play exactly, as I never ended up needing one for Brunwick- I was hoping for some experience to help guide me! But nice to get a big lot finally finished (even if it might need some retooling after playtesting). :) I wanted the interior to be a bit old-timey, but that red wallpaper/wood combo is very oppressive... The apartments are a lot lighter:
#The Sims 2#Whitmeade#Finding it hard to build CC-free now that I've started introducing more CC to Brunwick
