I don't think there will be a regeneration like the 10th Doctor's again, and not for the angst of "I don't want to go" or the long drawn out goodbye. I'm more thinking about the injuries.

Because before he takes in the radiation, he shatters a ceiling of glass around himself, and then we watch him crawl and stand with shards of glass in his hands and his face so raw and bloodied, and I honestly don't know if we'll see that again.

Eccleston, Capaldi, Whitaker were all so clean when they died, in pain yes, but in a single photo you can't tell. But if u look at a single photo of 10. Just look at him

And I just think seeing this amazing man, my hero, my favourite person in all of tv, brutalised like this... I think it broke me a little.

(And that's all before I get into the imagery of the radiation and him wiping away his injuries as a metaphor for regeneration as much as a precursor).

if i'm honest i'd have to say that the worst thing about taking antidepressants isn't the heat disregulation or the nausea or the weird mood swings whenever they change my dose, but the fact that i can't fucking eat grapefruit. do i like grapefruit? not particularly, no. but for the last two years every time i walk down the fruit aisle in lidl i swear i see them glaring at me like great orange balls of menace. every time i see them i am possessed by the spirit of a vengeful poltergeist who wants nothing more than to rip one apart with its bare hands and feast on the sticky, bitter flesh of it's insides. i care not for social expectations or niceties, or even that i have a track record of visibly wincing after a single bite of grapefruit unless accompanied with an absolute vat of sugar. all i desire is to absolutely descimate that stupid yellow fruit and i fear that until i do so i will never know peace.

Aight so I just finished reading reading "This is how you lose the time war" and I have some thoughts so spoilers aheas:

Firstly I really enjoyed this book, to the point that I read it in under 3 hours which I think is the fastest I've ever read a book.

I love that it gave a very vague sense of how the time travel works or how a war takes place as that's the only way to present a time war of that scale.

I also love that the concepts of timelines or threads or whatever they're called aren't explained at all, but the authors trust that someone who picked up a book with that name knows some basic time travel tropes.

I've engaged with a lot of time travel media over the years, so I will say that some of it was quite obvious.

The shadow being either Red or Blue was fairly predictable, the period when Blue was disconnected from garden being Red was predictable, but I think that didn't really matter that much.

Like all the best pieces of time travel media it puts emotion first and everything else second, like Interstellar and Doctor Who you find yourself so wrapped up in the characters journey that u are just going for a ride with them.

OK seriously what is UNIT in 2024. Like I feel like RTD can't decide whether they're Men In Black, SHIELD, or some weird combo of the two. They seem to be presented as vastly overfunded while completely useless to defend against what seem like fairly standard alien invasions (the Meep's mind control shit should've been easier to deal woth).

Back in the 70s I knew exactly what they were. UNIT was a group of Himbo's beholden to the whims of British Beaurocrats and the UN being dragged into being peaceful and intelligence based by the 3rd Doctor.

Then in the 2000s they seemed to be becoming a more invasive militia, going as far as to take over private factories in the UK. This was interesting and not at all used.

Then we're meant to believe Kate Stewart brought it back? To what? I don't know.

UNIT 2024 should be either a deeply invasive wildly terrifying agency with very little handling other than Kate Stewart holding them from being deeply fascist or a massive group of the most competent people given a shoestring budget and a dream.

I deeply want to see more vader content from between ROTS and ANH but not because I want to see a TV show of vader being violent for 10 hours.

Anakin Skywalker was a character that was filled with such love, for his mother, for Padme, for Ahsoka, for Obi Wan, for Rex, for R2, even for Palpatine. The second he found out about Luke, he wanted to rule together with him, and he sacrificed everything for him.

He didn't care about the jedi order, the senate, the empire, or the galaxy. None of them had ever been kind to him: a slave, a cultist, a machine.

So I want to see a vader that tries so hard to still love. One that finds men he fights along side with his brothers, who sees engineers who maintain his ship as friends, and who sees kinship with his fellow pilots. I want to see him try to love...

...and for it all to be taken away. Through his work for palpatine, for Tarkin, doing anything for the empire. That kind of love he had cannot exist in that regime.

I want to see him fall again and again until he goes truly and properly cold.
