you ever listen to a song 47 times in a row and every time you’re like wow what a good song. I’m gonna play it again.

You nervously make your way up to the unoccupied chair in front of the oblong table, big enough to hold a bottle of water, plastic cups and some other stuff. You look around as you’re trying to sit down, your shaky hands holding your favourite piece of paper – the only one you have; it’s a photocard of Baekhyun. You’ve been waiting for this moment since you got this photocard, hoping that one day – and you promised yourself you wouldn’t die until it happens – he can sign it for you with that pretty signature of his.

The moment his eyes meet yours is just so magical, you even feel ashamed for not wearing fancy clothes like the other fans do, unnecessary outdoing themselves to impress the idol. You wanted to keep it simple, knowing it wouldn’t matter anyway. What really matters is the way he asks for your card that you’re holding onto tight, so that no one could rob it from you. You slide it between his pretty hands, mesmerised by those fingers holding the black marker pen as he quickly signs the back of the photocard. He also leaves a cute “^.^”-like sign that represents him.

It feels like an eternity for you, being so close to him while the pen’s working between his fingers, you’re watching the movements carefully and trying to remember his scent in the meanwhile to make it a long-lasting memory. Then he looks up at you smiling, making sure with his eyes you’re comfortable enough. He probably noticed the tears in your eyes, which you tried to hold back, not letting them roll down on your face – otherwise it would be too obvious you’re overwhelmed. He pouts, handing you the now signed card and he tries to reach your hand.

“Are you okay?” he asks nearly whispering, your hands now under his on the table, tiny caresses helping you to calm down. You only nod your head while looking into his eyes, those brown irises driving you crazy. You stare at him, unable to process what’s happening, as if you were dreaming. A few moments and caresses later, you hear one of the bodyguards saying something in Korean you can barely comprehend. Baekhyun lets go of your hand, and you only realise what’s really happening when you stand up and see another girl taking the seat you sat on seconds ago.

You probably imagined too much into it; after all, he’s just being nice to his fans, as he should be, it’s part of his personality. You are not special or different in his eyes, unlike him in yours. The man you look up to, who makes you smile, who you can lean on – even if he barely knows about it. Sometimes you even feel some kind of jealousy and envy because you can’t go to every event he organises, don’t own all his merch or meet him randomly in a fancy café or restaurant. But when you’re listening to his songs, it makes you realise how much he means to you, how he’s able to convey different emotions with his voice… It’s simply incredible.

You might be just one of the millions of fans who admire him, but you truly are one of those who will support him no matter what. It’s like he asked you to do so, as if you made him this promise. He’s part of your everyday life for a while now, even if not in every possible way; but still, somehow he manages to make your days better. Nonetheless, you don’t want to say he saved your life... That would sound a bit too biased, wouldn't it?

Not much after you leave the stage, you look back to see him for the last time, enjoying the real-life sight of Baekhyun before you return to your ordinary days, when you only watch him through the screen. Oh, there's so much you would say to him, but the lack of time doesn’t allow you to have a nice long conversation with him. Not yet, you think. You promise yourself that one day you’ll tell him everything… Until next time, you decide to write down your thoughts to yourself, making it easier to summarize all that is on your mind. Because the thing is, he’s all you can think about recently.

…after having a nice dinner with your best friend, Baekhyun, he offers to drive you home because it’s already late night and he’s too scared to leave you alone out there at that time. The streets are getting desolated, only a few cars passing by, and still you feel the calmest and the most comfortable ever. Not sure if it’s because Baekhyun’s sitting beside you on the driver’s seat, his hands firmly holding the wheel, or it’s because of the hearty meal you had earlier.

The glances he gives you from time to time – those intense, yet soothing ones – while he’s focusing on the road ahead as well, make your heart flutter. Though you don’t look at him, you see his cute act from the corner of your eye. You can’t help but smile from the inside.

The thing is, after all these years you just realised it now: you’ve fallen for him.

You love the fact that he trusts in you more than anyone else, and that he’s there for you every time you need him, even if it’s something silly and you could’ve solved it yourself. Honestly, he makes you feel complete, and little does he know that whenever he makes these tiny gestures like staring at you as if you were the most precious gem in the world, or when he simply touches your shoulder when you two are laughing, you’re actually screaming internally. Sometimes you even wonder how could you be this lucky to have him as your best friend…

If only he felt the same, you think constantly. But deep down you know you’re alone dreaming of this kind of relationship with him; while crying in your bed and wishing he was next to you, he will spend the rest of the night (and seemingly the next day too) with his actual partner, who’s probably waiting for him at home right now.

No, of course you shouldn’t feel this way but you’re… jealous? I don’t want to ruin our beautiful friendship, you tell yourself. You even question whether the way Baekhyun acts towards you is intentional or you just imagine too much into the whole situation. When he hugged you tightly and kissed your forehead before heading home, like he always does… You’re thinking about him before finally falling asleep. Let’s meet there, Baekhyun, you say, referring to your dreams. Because you know well when you wake up, the other side of your bed will be empty. As usual.
