K9emotes talk.

Okay so APPARENTLY there is random drama in the emote community with K9. I havent talked to him in i dont know HOW many months but I just want to get a few things straight from my personal experience with K9, all the “proof” there is with K9, etc.

PROOF = There seems to be some proof i do see on @exposing-traced-content and such. But SOME people will go as far as to quite literally say he traced an actual refrence picture of a real animal. Im sorry but WHAT?! Im sure we can use our thinking caps and figure out the irl pictures were refrences. Now with the whole “kys” thing in the server, I can confirm when i was in it there was a role to specify the boundaries of certain jokes like kys, virtual pets, etc etc.

DEATH THREATS / HARMFUL MESSAGES = So I know the rage you can feel when a person ‘gets’ away with being problematic but it doesnt give you the right to send harmful messages. It makes you look like a worse person and its just.. no :,)

PEOPLE COPYING HIM = Im going to be very honest here. Alot of emoji creators copied K9. I noticed it when I initially joined his server, and saw a large amount of heavy inspo leaking into the crevices of the emoji community. there STILL is to this day. And that doesnt EXCUSE the work he copied at all. Just claiming there was people copying him initially.

POSTING SCREENSHOTS = This is a bit of a mini lesson for people who dont know, but posting screenshots that werent allowed to be posted or shared is rude. Just ask them first, and if they say no dont post it. I learned this the HARD way. Im not talking about K9, but other discord members convos that exist in this situation.

MY PAST DRAMA WITH K9 = This drama is completely over and I can say it was my fault. The way certain things were handled was overall bad. Now we ARE in better terms of course. I will not be sharing the likeness of the drama, due to people who want to demonize K9 (or me when i know i have changed).

wanted to add that k9emotes has rebranded on tumblr and is now going by apathemojis, so to keep an eye on his new stuff for more tracing. if i were him i would be sure not to trace anymore but yk 🙏🙏🙏🙏

this isnt submitting anything but there is NOTHING wrong with tracing an actual picture as refrance for some things, i've had my ART TEACHER do it for animals. and she encourages it aslong as it is not someone elses art and is just a photo.

I never said there was anything wrong with it, but credit to the reference is still recommended.

Every artist would be tracing. Using references is literally taught in art colleges. -m-

Our mom showed us all of the references she had used in college when she got her portfolio back.

Definition of tracing: Tracing is the act of copying an image or work of art by drawing over its lines, especially through the use of transparent overlays.

Definition of using references: Referencing is looking at an image or scene, and then drawing it, or using it like another person said to guide your work in some way.

^ This, we ourselves took art at least as a GCSE and where taught the methods we use and showed in our proof videos, it's an actual genuine art method that is even recommended by other artists, teachers and more

Tracing and learning how to draw something are two entirely different subjects. Tracing is claiming for something to be entirely yours from scratch and an almost exact copy to what the traced images was, whereas learning and using an image to reference and use the shapes to create something; such as wings. Is completely fine and acceptable as it's a way to study. If people are seriously claiming this to be tracing such a horrible topic then how do you expect people to magical know how to make something?

In this case trixten was simply doing a study which you can see as the drawings are now fully detailed or a complete character due to the wings also be quite different shaped and stylized. If this was tracing then why does it not look like the images that were 'traced'? Make it make sense

There's literal videos shown, where my art doesn't line up with the references, because all we really did was study the shapes, to which we then had a 2nd lot of the shapes drawn SEPERATE as you can see in the videos, to which then we started our rough sketch line art, then the actual line art, and then eventually finished lol, the only thing we really did was copy and paste the shape of the wings but even those don't line up as you can see in the video because we made it into our own original thing

whats so bad ab tracing real life photos .. ? ive seen a few posts ab people getting mad ab that — plus a lot of these “proofs” arent even proof because the lines dont match ? /gen

Nothing bad about it. But it is bad when you don’t credit the original media used. It’s disrespectful to claim something as your own when you’re using a real life image.

oh yay youre finally posting again!! i have a few more ive found. all done by k9 1. by garden.mouse on instagram and clover-mouse on tumblr. k9 technically 'credited' but it was in his personal channel, unpinned and not pinged AFTER a user had said something about it. was not posted in a main channel (like new-emojis or announcements) where people will actually check! 2. i was unable to find the original poster as this is a heavily reposted image. i tried searching but i believe the original poster may have deleted the post or their account. i believe k9 mentioned copying this but i couldnt find it anywhere in the server 3. once again, couldnt find original artist was this was a heavily reposted image. no credit was ever given for this that i am aware of 4. i BELIEVE the original artist may be alexb2fr on deviant art, but i am not certain, as the account looks mildly suspicious. it was the earliest posting i found of the image while searching. once again, no credit found anywhere. body is almost identical, but the wings differ. you can tell it is heavily inspired though. 5. no credit needed since its an irl image! definitely traced/heavily inspired though, especially since the other drawings of this batch were all varying styles and this one was very realistic compared to the others. i apologize for no provided overlay images this time!! didnt have the time to do so

also i just wanted to take a moment to say thank you for doing this! i believe that the emoji community, especially larger creators should be held more accountable about tracing, copying, and taking inspiration off of other creators, especially when they preach about not wanting the same done to them. i dont think any of these creators should be harassed, but the emoji community has a serious hypocrisy and stealing problem, and it shouldnt be encouraged further than it already has. you are doing a good job by creating this account and i hope you arent being harassed!
