Under the Stars

Leo Valdez x Reader (no gender mentioned)

In which Leo Valdez overworks himself working on the Argo, but luckily he has his ‘best friend’ there to watch after him

Campfires were always one of your favorite times of the week. The sensation of every single cabin getting together and being able to talk and hangout without fighting each other (usually) was just one of the best sensations out there.

However today was different.

You caught yourself looking for a certain pointy ear latino, though he seemed to be non-existent.

After a thorough few minutes of looking you quickly stood up from your cabin group and walked over to Piper.

“Hey,” you said, “where’s Leo?”

She responded with a shrug, “he said he wanted to get some more work done on the Argo 2.”

You quickly thanked her and excused yourself from your cabins area of the campfire with no more than 2 looks from others. To which, you started your journey the bunker nine. Sure, it was dangerous to go into the woods this late at night but you couldn’t care less.

You quickly reached into your pocket pulling out the small candy bag you had with you to give to him, not knowing the last time he ate.

Finally, after what felt like forever, you reached the bunker.

You landed your rhythmic 6 knocks on the door too which you saw your favorite curly haired boy standing on the other side. Soot was smeared on his jacket and face, his tool belt was half falling off of his body. But gods, to you, he looked perfect.

“Leo,” you whispered, “can I come in?”

He didn’t say anything instead opting to open the door wider and letting you in. You looked around in awe, you haven’t been able to visit in a while because of your camp activities and a lot had happened since.

You jumped from a slight nose looking at where it came from to see Leo working on a project. When you see that you gently reached over and grabbed his hand with yours, moving his hand off of the project and putting your candy bag into his.

You looked into his sunken eyes, “Eat, you need it.”

Leo opened the food and snacked on it there and then, clearly not having the energy to talk.

“You need to stop overworking yourself,” you spoke up “it’s not good for your health.”

“I’ll be ok.”

You two went back and forth for a few minutes before you finally blurted out, “will you atleast go outside of the bunker for just five minutes with me?”

He looked at your pleading eyes and quickly realized, he couldn’t say no to you.

“Fine.”

You gently latched on to his hand feeling butterflies erupt in your stomach and while you weren’t dating, you sure wished you were.

You brought him to a clearing in the woods where you lied down without saying a word. He looked at you with a questioning look, to which you patted next to yourself and hoped he would get the hint and lay next to you,

He did.

You quickly started talking, “this is one of my favorite places to go, no distractions, just nature and the stars.”

While you were looking up at the stars you failed to realize Leo Valdez was looking at none other than you. You looked over at Leo to talk to him again just to make eye contact and feel your cheeks start to go red. You thanked everyone alive for it being so dark, to where he couldn’t see your face.

“I like you” he blurted out, “like, as more than a friend”

You looked him in the eyes, then looked down as you felt him take your hand into his.

“Do you like me back?”

There was a long silence where you were just looking into his eyes, then you leaned in with a burst of confidence and connected your own lips with his. He was quick to kiss back, though clearly inexperienced.

Once you separated you looked into his eyes.

“If anyone ever asks how we confessed I’m going to say under the stars.”
