You close your eyes.

"It breaks, you know?" He whispers to you, drained, voice cracking at how much he's been crying and you hope to God that you never had to see Donghyuck — Lee Haechan, feisty, stubborn, head-strong Lee Haechan who always gets his way — this broken, this ruined, this much of a mess. You don't think you've ever seen empty eyes so powerful and expressive when he, with as much of a smile he can manage, smiles.

[11:24 AM] your eyes fluttered open, you being awakened by the sensation of jaehyun’s lips against the sensitive skin of your neck. you let out a shaky breath, your hand reaching up to run a hand through his hair, gently massaging his scalp as he slept. his arms were loosely wrapped around your waist, his head resting in the gap between your neck and shoulder. you could hear his soft snoring, his warm breath grazing your skin.

the scene was perfect. the sunlight peeking through the blinds, the quiet chirping of the birds, and the muffled noises from the busy city that lay beyond the walls of the room. just you two alone in bed, waking up late after a late night of needy kisses and talking, enjoying the moment in each other’s arms. you’ve never felt more at peace than now.

you yawn as you walk out of the front door of your house, a mug filled with coffee in your hand as you shuffle over to the patio table, placing the mug on top of the table. you scratch your head as you start to head to the end of your driveway, until a bouquet of flowers on your wooden stairs make you stop.

you look at them, confused and concerned as you gently pick them up, inspecting the type of flower it was. after a few seconds of googling flowers on your phone, you conclude that it's a hyacinth. there were multiples of them in the bouquet, mainly blue and white ones, with a letter attached to the bottom of the boquet.

you unfold it, and it reads: for you, my love. from, your secret admirer.

you raise an eyebrow and glance around the outside of your house, trying to spot who gave you these beautiful flowers. after a few minutes of searching, you let out a deep sigh and, bringing the boquet of flowers with you, contuine making your way to grab your mail.

from an alley a few blocks away, jaemin pants as his lungs scream for air. that had to be the fastest and farthest he's ran in a while.

[16:56] after studying, you and doyoung found yourselves bored out of your minds.

“so...” doyoung spoke, breaking the silence as you both stared up at his bedroom ceiling, the air conditioning and the raindrops falling from the sky being the only noise. “what should we do now?”

you thought, silently, for a few moments, “we should go swimming.” you finally said.

“y/n... you understand its pouring rain outside, right?” he asked, looking at you like you had two heads.

“why not? it’ll be fun, and it’ll keep me from dying of boredom.”

“that’s fair.” he nodded, “but you also don’t have a bathing suit or anything here.” he finished, with a tilt of his head.

“it’s fine, i’m already wearing shorts and a t-shirt. if my mom asks why im soaked when i go home i’ll tell her it was the rain.” you said, a smile appearing on your face as you watched his expression change to match yours.

“alright. then, let’s go.” he spoke, running out of his bedroom.

“kim doyoung! wait for me!” you hadn’t realized how fast he truly was until you were running after him, from his bedroom, downstairs, through the kitchen, and out the back door to the pool.

you got to the poolside, and found doyoung waiting under the awning, looking like he was regretting agreeing to go swimming.

“come on, you baby.” you spoke from behind him, grabbing his attention.

“you jump in, first, then.” he dared you. being the person you were, you took it as a challenge, running right past him and jumping into the cold pool.

he looked at you in awe, and couldn’t help but laugh. he liked how bold you were, and he was starting to think, maybe, he kind of liked you. a lot.

[11:58 PM] you were breathless, your hair disheveled, lips swollen, lids heavy, hands tugging at the hem of his t-shirt. you tried to catch your breath as you looked back up at the male above you, completely dumfounded. how did this happen? you ask yourself this as your best friend jeno hovered over you shirtless, equally as breathless as you.

you had never thought of your best friend this way. never once had you ever imagined that the innocent, sweet boy with the adorable eye smile would, in the dim lighting of your bedroom, leave you gasping for air every time you kissed, shivering under his touch, and would mark you up with ease. you felt his hot breath on your neck and you could feel him smiling when he heard the quiet gasp escape you the moment his lips came into contact with the tender skin of your neck. no seriously, how did this happen?

despite all the confusion you felt, one thing was for sure: jeno was definitely not the innocent boy you thought he was. maybe you liked that?

a tear runs down his cheek as he thinks this, and he quickly wipes away. as long as you were happy, he thought, everything would be fine for him.

👻 “I definitely like me better when I’m with you,” He grins that perfect Jaehyun grin of his, dimples and cheeks as rosy as the first time you ever kissed back in eight grade in Yuta’s basement. 

If your diaries had a purpose, it was to serve as proof that your High School Sweetheart!Jaehyun hadn’t changed, not in a way that would ever pull you apart. Despite graduation, despite all your fears, his new life, and the long-distance – you had no doubt in your mind that he, too, would only ever have eyes for you.

[6:38 AM] light snoring filled the room along with the quiet chirping of birds coming from the window. nimble fingers ran through your hair as you slept, curious brown eyes gazing lovingly at your features. the male laying besides you gently traced circles on your tear stained cheeks, a knot forming in his throat at the memory of the previous night. 

roomate!taeyong had spent the night in your bed due to you running to his room in the middle of the night, tears rolling down your cheeks after having a nightmare. panicked and concerned, he sat you down in the living room couch and ran to the kitchen, assuring you that he'd be right back. frantic footsteps became louder and louder as he came back to your spot on the couch. you were a sniffling mess. he held a warm cup of tea in one hand, tissues in the other and set them down in the coffee table besides you. quickly, he grabbed the nearest blanket and draped it over your haunched shoulders. after making sure you were comfortable, he crouched down in front of you, pain stricken once he saw the condition you were in.

‘it’s okay. it’s not real. you’re here with me now.’ was all he said and for some reason, it brought you comfort. wether it was his sympathetic gaze that locked with yours or his gentle hold on your hands, you felt safe. you just quietly nodded your head, bringing a soft smile to his face. 

he had sat down next to you on the couch, allowing you to rest your head atop his shoulder. as you sobbed quietly, he whispered little words of encouragement whenever he could, letting you know that it was okay to cry and to just let it out. it was late at night and he had to get up early, but not once did he rush you nor pressure you to stop crying. he just sat there and let you cry it out, despite how much it hurt him to see you this way. 

after you calmed down a bit, he led you back to your bedroom with a gentle hand placed on your back to help guide you. as he adjusted your blanket, making sure you were nice and warm, you reached and grabbed his hand.

‘please stay.’ 

and just like that, you went back to sleep without any struggle. of course that was most likely because of the comfort of having taeyong’s arms wrapped around you throughout the night.
