My very first attempt at embroidering my lettering! I gotta remember to bring back my @pilotpenusa #frixionmarkers home so I can erase my writing. Happy Valentine's Day! 💕💕 Today in Room 12, we finished our cookies made from scratch & decorated them. We also created these friendship posters and passed out Valentine's cards! I love how these posters turned out. Each kid traced, cut and wrote on 15 tiny hearts then they decorated and glued the hearts on each others posters. TBH I'm not 100% satisfied with how this display came out but it's very high and I am scared of heights. 😝 I still wanted to share this though bc I am proud of the work that we're doing at my school. Another teacher and I started a monthly Family Literacy Night where we share ONE strategy of reading and gave families a chance to prioritize reading by reading together. It was a fun evening of snacks and books! My friend commissioned me to do a piece for her gallery wall. It's a tribute to @anthonybourdain. The creative process is so weird. I see so many little mistakes in my work that I bet no one else sees & I would never notice in someone else's work. The reason this piece is double sided is precisely that. I've been super nervous to post this bc it's my first fully digitally created piece (I'm not fancy enough for iPad/procreate/apple pencil, but I did use an app called sketchbook on my phone, using my finger). Here's a video 🎥 I made a while back for when my SIL was first starting to do brush lettering! In it, I was showing her how I hold the marker at an angle. The third loop was done to show her how I normally hold my pencil ✍🏻 and how it doesn't work when you're brush lettering. 🙅🏻‍♀️❌ No matter where you are in your lettering (or whatever else) journey, don't compare yourself to others but compare yourself to yourself. Practice makes progress, not perfection. I often look at my work and wish I was a LOT better a LOT quicker and I often find myself having to remind myself that this is my journey and my journey only.
